RE: What IR System should I buy????
Are there any Heng Long Battle System only clubs? I have to agree with YHR that these tanks are one of the best way to get new tankers into the hobby. Do any clubs make any kind of accommodation for them? A Heng Long only night perhaps?

RE: Hot Dog! New HL Tiger I with new accessories!
One little tip for the sound, fit a 1ohm speaker, and a 22kb potentiometer as a volume control. It seperates the sounds and you get a lot more clarity for very little money.
My tiger's speaker is terrible. I can't hear the cannon fire over the engine noise. On the other hand, my T-34 with HL RX18 is clear as day.

RE: New VSTanks owner
I believe metal tracks are on the way. Vstanks don't work all that well in grass, but I guess it depends on length and type of grass. Vstank boasts a big electronics upgrade on the way. Lets hope it lives up to the hype.

RE: Hot Dog! New HL Tiger I with new accessories!
I got a Tiger I from Mato a few months back with the exact same corrections you got. Open her up and you will probably find the new RX18 board. You will need to get the replacement barrel if you want one with the right length. Does anyone know if the HL panzer IVs come with the new RX18 board?

RE: I have working IR!!!
I ran a few tanks in the snow last year. It made me nervous. And so I have been on the look out for a green house or Barn to setup a battlefield on. Get some propane heaters and away you go.

RE: The 1/24 Vstank Series are finally getting Exciting
thats what i want to do in our backyard.. tank battle with IR vstank.
Note that their IR range drops to about 10' in direct sunlight. On overcast days you will get about 15' range. Indoor you can get about 20-25'. From my experience, most of our shoot outs happen at 12' or less, so you should be good. They will operate better on compacted dirt with few pebbles, the smoother the better. Their operation on grass is less desirable, depending on thickness and type of grass you have.
is towerhobbies a good place to buy a VStank? because as you said they're the one that sells the IR version. cuz i wanted to buy my dad a IR vstank so that we could play
Yes Towerhobbies is probably the best place in North America to purchase Vstanks. I bought 6 of mine from them. One of the best features that Vstank has is it durability and lack of maintenance. Most of my tanks have almost 20 hours of battle time on them and I have had to do nothing except charge their batteries.
also i really dont have any idea about the VStank.. also want to know does it have an engine sound? like while in idle does it have an engine idle sound? or just the forward/reverse/left and right turn sound?
They don't have an engine idle sound....yet. Sound upgrade is on the way.[:D] Here are a couple of my videos on how they work. Mind you, they are being operated by kids. RE: Scratch built 1/24 scale buildings
Do you guys have a website?
Not at the moment. I run my club as a youth activity at our church, most of the members are kids aged 14 and under with 2 or 3 adults supervising. All of them are new to RC tanks, but a few are ready to buy their own tanks next week. We currently run 8 tanks at a time.

RE: VsTanks for convention?
how good are the VsTanks for smaller battlefields?
My last battle involved 8 Vstanks on a 15' x 30' battlefield. Anything smaller and we would have been bumping into each other.
How reliable is their IR laser tag system?
The beam is pretty tight. You have to aim for the center of the tank to hit. Range is about 20-25' indoors. We didnt think it was a problem as most battles happen around the 15' range.
How are the VsTanks on maintenance?
They are tough little machines. Very durable. No testing, no fixing. Thats why I love them. You may throw a tread on carpet with the rubber treads, but if you upgrade the tracks, the problem goes away. My only problem are the fuel drums on the back of the T-72. They will break when they get rammed. That being said, Vstank has awesome parts support. You can order parts from the VsClub and get them shipped for free.
What about time period?
I have all modern Vstank, but it looks like the WW2 range is gaining popularity. We do find that the barrels hit buildings a lot. Not a problem IMHO.
I have also heard that VsTank will be releasing a spiffy new 2.4ghz radio for their pro tanks early next year. Will this increase the number of tanks you can run simultaneously? Will it be applied to all the tanks they're producing immediately, or will they only upgrade part of their lineup?
At them moment, you can run up to 13 tanks. Not sure about the 2.4ghz upgrade. I believe it will be sold as an upgrade. Maybe it will be stock? They don't perform as well outdoors. The IR range drops to about 10' in direct sunlight. Add a circular sticker to the top and you can increase it another 2'. Run them in the shade and they have about 14' range. My group has ages 7 and up, so these tanks are best suited for our needs. Again, no maintenance except battery charging (you will need 14 AA per tank) Check out my Vstank Battle Vid [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBJNPFT5Zlo]Video[/link]

RE: The 1/24 Vstank Series are finally getting Exciting
I can put up with the sound for now, but when the sound upgrade comes out, I will be one of the first to buy it. Apart from that, the IR battling is awesome. 8 Tanks is totally chaotic. I scored a few hits at 20' plus. If two tanks are lined up one behind the other, you can score hits on both with only one shot LOL. Not very acurate, but what the hell, Its still fun. I also found that I scored a few more hits if I fired my machine gun while moving to my next firing position. My only other complaint is that the controls are too complex. Too many buttons, but I am sure that proportional controls will simplify that. No breakdowns or thrown tracks during the game, which is a testament to Vstank's quaility. I can't stop thinking about our next battle and my dreams of making a large indoor dirt field to play on.

RE: The 1/24 Vstank Series are finally getting Exciting
Now all they have to do is improve the Vstank's range outdoors. The tank needs a filter to get its range up to 15-20 feet in sunlight.

RE: WSN T-34 RX18 conversion
I did this conversion about a month ago. You will need to replace the barrel to get the HL flash unit inside (the WSN one sucks). Hope this helps. [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8999898/anchors_8999898/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#8999898[/link] Tim

Fricken eh![:D] The two controller connection sounds like a blast. New sounds! [sm=shades_smile.gif] I wonder if they will sell the M1/Leo recoil as an upgrade (I have 3 that need one). Better start saving my $$$.

RE: R/C Tanks in Sears Wishbook
You should put the FOV electronics in the nicer more scale VS tanks since the FOV tanks sound much better and have a normal radio with proportional control...the electrics should drop right in a VS...to bad FOV don't sell the radio and electric components!!
I guess I will have to wait and see what Vstank puts out as I love their product. But that M270 is looking better and better every day (drools). I just love the modern tanks (grabs for credit card) [:D]

RE: HL Tiger I metal suspension
I am currently putting metal suspension arms on a new Tiger. They screw on using the old hex bolts. I removed the existing washers to get a tighter fit. The road wheels can't screw into the metal suspension arms, you have to use the pins that come with the kit.
