RE: Help ID a plane....
Thanks guys.... Thought it was a cool looking plane, don't know if I'll ever fly it. The engine was locked up, took a few hours to free it up and get it running..... runs great. Need to ge some spoked wheels for it and make a static engine for it. Probably will hang it up for display....... Got it cheap, probably sell the engine for twice I paid for it....

Help ID a plane....
Picked this up today in excellent shape, has an old '80's era radio and 4 stroke 40. Anyone know what plane this is?

RE: Want to upgrade my RC boat, I need advice.
Ah, another boat without rudders. You might just want to add more battery to that setup to get more run time out of it. IMO, trying to get more speed out of it by adding bigger motors (you will need a new speed control too) and hot batteries will start to really cost you. By the time you get that running as fast as you want, you could buy a Super Vee or something similar that is more built for faster running and is more upgradeable.

RE: fiberglass vs. wood
Yeah, Marti...... was your sorry butt driving [:D] Still no Y-harness? Building a Woody out of glass will make it stronger for sure. As for conditions you will run it in, you can always add ballast to it to anchor it better and remove the ballast for lighter conditions. Would love to see a lighter 'glass Woody scream across the pond.

RE: whipper snipper engines...
Sthil are good motors as are Homelites and McCullahs (sp). Getting them to fit and set up is a different story. With plenty of fiddling and trials, you will get it to work. Anything can be done, it's just the effort that takes the time. get a radio setup AND KEEP IT DRY. keep at it and you will have a hobby you will never want to leave.

RE: new gas motor
Have heard nothing [;)] but if Tony says wait.... wait. Tony is a stand-up guy and is one of the best in the field for standing behind his product. He will never screw you over. On the other hand, there are a lot of builders out there that do great work. Do more research and listen to the advice of people here like JAW and XXX. Let them help you determine which engine is right for you.

RE: FedEx shipping damage.
The shipper is responsible for the damage since the insurance was bought by the shipper. Get with the shipper and make the necessary arrangements. if it was bought with a credit card, make a stop payment notice until the claim is resolved.

If you want to add considerable strength, use some real thin fiberglass cloth with the epoxy.

RE: Boat build questions
This project is dependant on what you are will ing to spend. If you are willing to spend $1000 - $1300, I would recommend a Warehouse Hobbies RTR or kit. If you are just wanting to slap something together and work from there, you will likely want more speed and wind up spending the same amount you could get a RTR or Kit that will run the speeds you want. Remember how fast your first car seemed too slow? That being said, I would build a boat out of 1/8" plywood and seal it with epoxy, This will be the lightest way to go. By the time you build a 16 ga. aluminum boat and seal it, you will be way too heavy,

RE: how it all connects.
ok, i think I know all the names of the drive hardware but im not sure of how it all connects. Is this right? The collet bolts to the motor shaft, The flex shaft is tightened to the collet like a drill chuck tightens down on a drill bit, The flex cable runs through the grease filled stuffing tube......... Good This is where I'm not sure... does the flex cable get welded or soldered to the prop shaft or does the prop shaft come with the flex cable? .......Depends on who you buy it from after that the drive shaft goes through the strut, gets a thrust washer, then the drive dog goes on, then prop, then locknut. so far , so good although in this setup, a thrust washer is not needed And I've also read about zip tie insurance for the shaft at the rear of the prop and between the collet and stuffing tube. ....A zip-tie can throw it out of balance,,,,, a piece of fuel line will do better ALSO, is the grease inside the stuffing tube the only thing that is keeping the water from coming in through the tube............ Yes thanks, eric.

I believe your manuverability would be extremely limited with those. Plus, they are designed with speed, not weight in mind. I'd stick with props and rudders.

RE: Enforcer Pro
The kill switch you have will need to be mounted so that the body of the switch is grounded to the engine, on the left front of the engine there should be a mounting hole for it that will work. The wire from the switch will hook up to the spare black wire on the engine. Done.

RE: Paint
ORIGINAL: Jackedman would gel coat work ok for this ??
Gelcoat will work on fiberglass boats well. On a wood boat, you would wind up with cracks at the stress points since wood is not as rigid as a fiberglass boat (unless it is covere in fiberglass of course) The bad thing is, is tah gelcoat weighs more than paint.

RE: Servo wiring corrosion/fail safe?
Well. first off, if your connections were that corroded when you got to where you run the boat, you need to be a little more attentive and maintain the boat. You have a 30 - 50 mph rocket that can seriously hurt somebody. Now, to answer your question, if the connection were that corroded, it is likely the moisture has wicked it's way to the insides of your electronics through the wires. The wires will act like a straw and allow water into the reciever, fail safe and servos causing internal corrosion. I would reccommend replacing everything.

RE: Paint
Cheap = won't last long. You can spray it with an epoxy paint like Petit Easy-poxy or go a little expensive with Imron or Awlgrip. A 3 pack automotive paint will do ok, and cost less. The cheapest way would be an airplane paint from the local hobby shop. Your choice.
