RE: OS 1.08 Nitro engine
I run Wildcat 10/16 in my O.S. 1.08, and have never had an issue. I agree this is a superb engine!

RE: Man is Arrested for attempted Attack!
OK, this guy is a terrorist, a coward, and a traitor. He wants to kill us. He got made and hanged himself with his own rope. I hope his devious acts don't cast a dark shadow on our hobby that we love so well. However, we must ALL be vigilant against this type of behavior, and report it when we know about it. I have met some outstanding folks in this hobby and on this board! [;)]

RE: Top Flite P-51D 60 Size ARF Canopy Wanted
Oriole, I am aware of the back order, as I have one ordered. Now, I checked my storage and I found a brand new canopy for a T/F Gold Edition P-51. It fits perfectly. I no longer need any assistance here. A Word of Caution about the ARF canopy. I was using my heat gun to shrink the covering on the wing fillet. The heat from the gun went up the side of the P-51 and melted the canopy. Keep this in mind when working on yours.

RE: Adjusting split elevators?
I use a Dave Brown push rod from the servo to the two wires of the same length that go to each elevator surface. Lay a straight edge across the elevator and adjust the quick connectors accordingly.

RE: If there was no ARF's, would you still be in the hobby?
I understand why folks buy ARF's. I have a couple myself. I have a Seagull Models Harmon Rocket that flies great. I am finishing a Top Flite P-51D ARF that will be a great flying airplane. However, on both aircraft I did a lot of reinforcing and personal touches. I prefer to scratch build. It is time consuming, but very rewarding. I also like to kit build. I want to see ARF's held together with more than white glue. I will always be in this hobby. [sm=omg_smile.gif][sm=47_47.gif][sm=49_49.gif][8D]

When you ignore maintenance and other issues, Murphy's Law will prevail! One other thing: make sure you are rested and in the right frame of mind to fly safely. One mistake can result in disaster. Fly safe!

RE: What is the gratest warbird of all time (non jets)
The P-51D Mustang is AWESOME! Courtesy Aricraft has 3 nice P-51's for sale, but I need $1,700,000.00 plus tax and fuel money to buy one. Come on POWERBALL! Oh well, my R/C's will be fine for now.

RE: Whats a warbird?
LDM, I did not understand your reply, but OK, whatever. I'm all for our model aircraft being made more user friendly. The old Top Flite Red and Yellow box Warbird kits required a lot of carving. I find scratch building quite enjoyable. My main gripe about ARF's is that one does no know how well the airplane is built, and no building expertise is required. One merely has to follow instructions and assemble. Some folks just don't have time to build.

RE: Whats a warbird?
LDM, I have never had a Hangar 9 Airplane. I have built and flown kit P-40's, both the red box TF P-40 and the Gold Edition P-40. However, I try to explain to those who have no experience how to do it, what to expect, and to practice on a simulator first. I still remember my first take of with my first Warbird, a Spitfire. The video of my TF Gold Edition P-51 shows how even a seasoned pilot can make a mistake now and then. These are flight characteristics, and do not pertain to the question here, which is, "What is a Warbird"? In the event this were a thread on Warbird Flight Characteristics, I would advise to think of a Warbird as "Flying Brick" that wants to torque and yaw left of takeoff, defies gravity through horsepower, hates cross wind landings, and does not stop flying until it has stopped moving and the engine is shut off! RE: Whats a warbird?
I belong to the Commemorative Air Force, which recognizes military aircraft up through the Vietnam War as Warbirds. Well, that's being half assed about it. The CAF used to only recognize WWII military aircraft as Warbirds. One can not look at an F-15 Eagle or an F-22 Raptor and say that is not a Warbird without being demeaning. I would gladly allow a modern day military Warbird into a Warbird event. It gives flavor to the event, and allows modelers a much larger field to choose from in what aircraft they wish to build, fly, and compete with. We need to upgrade our line of thought about Warbirds. Like I stated before, if you want to have a Warbird event limited to a certain era, then state so when posting said event. Otherwise, make the event open to all qualifying Warbirds of all eras. I would love to see a formation flight of a P-51, P-47, F-16, and A-10.
