RE: Reflex Vista Frustrations Solved
I have the Futaba 10C. I switched from a JR. I am interested in your "cheap way out".

RE: Reflex Vista Frustrations Solved
I see what you mean. All my links are now useless. I need to upgrade my Reflex. I bought a new radio, and now I can't even find the correct cord in stock anywhere. I love the sim, but this continues to be frustrating!

RE: Rudder to Aileron P-Mix on 7C
Thanks Bax! I had the stick movement correct. It sounds like you can't use the flaperon function and have Rudder to Aileron mix on just one P-Mix. It sounds like it would require two P-Mixes, one for channel 1 and one for channel 6. Is this correct? I don't think my friend is going to want to do that, but at least we will know.

Rudder to Aileron P-Mix on 7C
Hi Everyone! A friend of mine has the Latest 2.4MHz, 7C. I am a 10C owner, so I thought that setting up P-Mixes for the 7C would be easy, but I have been defeated. His Funtana X was tucking to the belly with rudder input, so I programmed a linear P-Mix to take out the tummy tuck. It was very easy. We then noticed that with right rudder, the plane tried to roll left. I set up a linear P-Mix to take care of this. Channel 4 was the master, and channel 1 was the slave. I figured that the flaperon mix should cause channel 6 to follow channel one, which is slaved to channel 4. Flaperon and flap trim were enabled. Only one aileron would move with rudder input. On my 10C there is a link function to get the slave channels to follow the master channel input, but I see nothing like this on the 7C. I see on page 53 of the manual where they give an example on how to set up the Rudder to Aileron mix, and I have this set up the same way, except the manual is not explicit as to whether this will work for a dual aileron setup as well as a single aileron setup. The other part that is not clear is that it only shows one rate at 25%, where, obviously, there would be a rate for right rudder as well as left rudder. We have elevator to flap mix enabled as well, but it doesn't seem to change anything whether it is enabled or not; not that it should. I can't imagine it matters, but we are using a 6 channel receiver. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

RE: Zenoah problems!!!!!
Don't worry about heating the shrink wrap, the cells handle that heat very well. Enjoy your G20!

RE: Zenoah problems!!!!!
All designers have a little fudge factor designed into their circuits. If the ignition is still firing on a 4.8 Volt pack, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Most ignition regulators that I have seen are set at 5.2 Volts. On ignitions, more voltage is not really better. The spark probably won't be any stronger than on the 4.8Volt pack, and your run time will drop. The extra voltage is just dissipated as heat. Heat is not good. I will also make a statement that is not going to make me popular with all the battery builders out there, but I used to work in the battery industry and train people in assembling battery packs. I know people want the best for their equipment and that is why they solder together their own cells. The worst thing you can do is solder cells together. People will want to fire away at me that soldering gives better tab contact, better current transfer, etc, ect, but the potential internal damage to the cells is not worth the risks to yourself, your model, your fellow flyers, your home, etc, etc. Resistance welding is really the only recommended way to go. I hope this helps.

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
Epoxy should work fine, however, some make the mistake of not getting the mesh fully saturated with the epoxy, or they put the epoxy on over old epoxy. If there is already epoxy on the wood, you should get it off before applying glass cloth. You can easly remove the epoxy by heating it with a heat gun. You will know when it is ready, as the epoxy will just crumble away with a stiff brush. Be careful to protect surrounding area's, as you can weaken other glue joints or damage covering. Once you have the epoxy off, scuff the wood up with some course sand paper and apply your epoxy and glass cloth. I don't know about others, but I like 30 minute to 1 hour epoxy for this. It gives me more work time and seams a little more fluid for soaking into the wood. Use a good epoxy, like Z-Poxy also. It doesn't pay to scrimp here. One last note, in my opinion it is bad practice to use finishing epoxy in structural locations. It sands great, but is harder and less forgiving of impact and vibration.

Cold air equals more oxygen molecules, more oxygen molecules requires more gas. Yup, probably lean!

RE: BCMAEngines
Yes, tune it with the cowl on. On the P-47, that dummy engine works great as a baffle. Just cut out the jugs that will allow the BCMA cylinder to get air. You won't have issues with air disturbances. I suspect the Mustang won't have the same issues, as the carb is hanging in the free air. Just try to make sure that the diaphragm port either faces away from the oncoming air or run a tube toward the back of the engine.

RE: BCMAEngines
IB Bucks P-47 Rocks! It is fast, easy to start, never an issue. I may have mentioned earlier that another guy has the H9 P-51 with the Saito 100 in it. It is a very impressive airplane also, but head to head, the BCMA powered P-47 is faster and out turns the P-51 easily. It will be interesting to hear what your P-51 does with the same power plant.

RE: BCMAEngines
Your install looks good. It is possible for the close proximity of the cylinder head to the ignition, to cause heat problems. I have seen installations like yours, and am unaware of any reported difficulties. I know that IB Buck would be helpful to you, but I am afraid he may be unavailable for a while due to the recent loss of his dad.

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
Thanks for the tips on High Alpha! I only have about 20 flights on her, and as I mentioned, I had engine popping problems until about 6 flights ago when I changed the radio out. Maybe the confidence will be there soon for trying more high alpha stuff. I am really enjoying the knife edge flight, spins, cuban 8's, etc. I would like to try to learn the IMAC basic sequence and see where that takes me. Kenrico, sorry to hear about your field. I sympathize with you! Our club was without a home for about 2 decades. 3 years ago we had the good fortune of getting a long term lease on a closed landfill. We love the site, and the city likes having us there. Best of luck in your search for a new home! I too have my eye on another WH plane. I would love one of the Ultimates. I have to sell my Multiplex EVO 9 before that happens. With the economy the way it is, that may take a while.[:@] By the way, your plane and Honduras are beautiful!

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
I am having a blast with mine. I just upgraded my radio to a Futaba 10C, 2.4 GHz. I was getting popping from the engine that I just couldn't get away from. It was present in another plane I had, as well. I changed to 2.4, and my Brison run's smooth as silk now. Starting to ring it out and have fun. That high alpha stuff eludes me though. Maybe I am not tail heavy enough. If anyone has any tips I would appreciate it. Hovering this bird is easy, but instability is a problem for me when not totally verticle.

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
I wouldn't put this on Tom. I think that Tom has to have a general expectation of skill when someone is interested in buying something like this, regardless of what they tell someone about their building skills. I have built much smaller ARF's that were a lot more difficult than this one.

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
I feel your frustration, but fear that you may regret some of the remarks you are making. When you get into this class of aircraft, time and experience, I feel, are a must. I am not sure what changes there may have been with your plane, as my instructions were to line the engine up with the center of the cowl ring, with the cowl installed. Any changes from one plane to the next are not a lack of consistency, but a desire on Tom's part to provide us with the best planes available. When I had a manufacturing flaw in my cowl, I couldn't mount my engine. In my case, I contacted Tom and he had a new cowl delivered to me in just a couple days. Tom acted quickly and earned my respect, and likely another future purchase. Again, I feel your frustration, but work with Tom and let him show you why he has such a loyal following. Andy

RE: BCMAEngines
Hey Guy's! I suppose it won't be long and this thread will fade into the past; and I suppose it has already started. I had a good time here, learning and helping others learn about gas engines, specifically the SPE engines. Adam has tied up the lose ends by giving us a place to turn for warranty work and parts. I know of a few companies that either didn't or were not able to do this when they closed up. I found myself in a little bit of a bind, as a few weeks ago, I had a prop strike with my BCMA SPE 40, that ended up with a broken crankshaft. Due to many factories having to shut down due to the Olympics, many of the parts we need to keep our engines running are not readily available at the moment, even from the suppliers that Adam pointed us to. I was directed to another company, by another friend, who had some of the parts, but not all of them. To my surprise, this company(Greg) went the extra yards to call around and track the rest of my parts down. In addition, he called me at home to let me know that he found every part and that they had been shipped. His name is Greg Shane, from eFLIGHT STUFF. Here is his website: http://gregshane.web.aplus.net/cart/index.php?categoryID=92 This may be the last help I can offer in this thread. Thanks so much to those that have helped me here! Andy

RE: Multiplex Royal Evo - Good News!
I got tired of waiting for news on the EVO upgrade, so I contacted Multiplex myself, about the upgrade. I bascially got the "what upgrade" answer. Here is a cut and paste from the e-mail: Hello Andy, Thank you for choosing Hitec products. Unfortunately, there is no word of an upgrade from this side. Thank you, XXXX XXXX Sure hated to read this! I really had high hopes that I could finally use my EVO 9 the way it should be able to be used. Starting to seriously consider the competition! Mike, if you are tuned in, can you give us any hope that the EVO 9 will have dual rates and 2.4GHz technology?
