If you want to get technical I have some older OS Max engines with plastic throttle arms and they were considered to be some of the best in their day. I still fly them and will continue to do so.

I have several handbooks put out by RCM and the most common appears to be a piece similar to a control horn project out in front of the aileron with an oval weighted head to act as a counter balance. I have attached a really crude drawing.

RE: Tail Broken Off
I'm sure it's repairable. Post some pictures and I'm sure you will get all the input you will need to fix it. The trick is not to add too much weight and to rebalance the airplane. Remember tail heavy = crash!

RE: Sig Something Extra Help
You will find SIG to be very helpful. I have had nothing but good experience with this company and they were around when I was kid starting out over 30 years ago. Their products are good and they support what they sell. I built a LT-40 and a Rascal C and wanted to replicate the color scheme on the boxes. SIG was most helpful in telling me strip size, etc. I got back into R/C as something to do with my youngest and have stayed. he is away at college but he is still interested in what dad is building and flying.

RE: Sig Something Extra Help
And while you are waiting fix this wing, it is very rebuildable from what I see. It's never a bad time to learn a few building/repair skills. Check with the local club and they can probably team you up with an old hand to help you along. Next thing you know you'll get bit by the building bug! Mike

RE: Hand Tools?
I have both the Master Airscrew plane as well as the Sollingen Balsa Planer both are good products. Of the two I perfer the Sollingen Balsa Planer but it does depend on what I am doing. I also have the Balsa Stripper from Hobby Lobby and the Master Airscrew. If you are cutting only one or two strips stick with the Master Airscrew stripper but if you need a buch of strips all the same size the Hobby Lobby Stripper is the only way to go. It takes a little longer to set it up but once done it is superior. It uses a scapel blade not a Xacto knife blade and I think they last longer. If I had it to do over I would still buy both. Mike

RE: Spekrum murdered my Corsair
First of all let me say I'm deeply sorry to hear about your Corsair. Next let me say I am a dyed in the wool Futaba user, I won't own anything else. That said I also want to say Spetkrum has an excellent reputation otherwise JR wouldn't have used their technology in the past. I suspect lear31A maybe right and the crash tore the wire loose. I can't say I have ever heard of any 2.4 Ghz radio being shotdown by another radio. I wish I could name a cause but I don't have a clue all I can say is what I know.

I had the same problem matching Ultrcote Bright Yellow. I started with the Ultracote spray paint it didn't even come close. I went with a bright yellow Krylon it looked closer to Cub Yellow. I would recomend the latex custom mix I think it will be the closest you will come.

RE: Any Ryan STA models out there ???
Why not try building one to the size you want? There are a number of short kits available from reputal laser cutters and in a lot of cases you can get the cowling and wheel pants from Fiberglass Specialties. You'll get the plane you want looking the way you want it to look. You can't beat that!

RE: Full power nose dive....
I'm glad to here you also perfer to stay away from the pits when flying. I have seen a model go wild and head for the pits, it's not fun! I like my airplanes close enough to see but with a healthy safety margine. I have seen a couple of pilots taken to task by the club safety officer for going too close to pits or the stands. What will probably really impress your prospective new flier is rebuilding the crash airplane and taking him flying with it again. It makes the crashes a lot less scary. I have raised a few eyebrows myself this way. You get the "You mean you actually rebuilt that plane?!" reaction, its a great moral booster.

RE: Heat resistant fuel tubing?
If you have a thermometer for monitoring head tempature it might give you an idea what tempature the fuel tubing is handling when not in the air. I used a piece of fuel tubing to insulate a wire on the igniiter of my natural gas grill but it failed after a few uses. Granted it did take an hour or two to fail but it did NOT have any eternal pressure either. Automotive tubing might work, the type they use going to the fuel injector manifold.
