I am a safe distance away. I do have two friends in that area one lost part of the roof and the other one was missed completely. Both are without power.

Time for a new trailer? I must admit I limit myself to 1/5th scale or a 84" wingspan for the same reason. I just upgraded from a 1998 Acura RL to a 2001 Acura MDX so I maybe able to squeeze in a few large planes.

Well good luck with the series I hope your team does well coach. There is a small but interesting flight museum in the Omniplex right over there by the Softball Hall of Fame, check it out when you get a chance. CE PAge started it, he was an early pioneer of flight and witnessed the first flight in Oklahoma. Boy did he have some good stories!

RE: Bridi by Bluejay Airplane Kits
I must admit the Birdi designs and their competitors of the day had a great look I have always loved. I will need to add a Kaos when I get done with the Golden Era projects I have on the bench. I traded for a scale warbird last year not because I wanted the airplane but because it had seven servos and a full set of Robart gear.
ORIGINAL: allmetal plane Jim, That airplane will turn some heads! Looking great! It is a very good and different choice!!
That is what I like about the DeSoutter MK1 it isn't something you see very often if ever. You get a WOW factor at the field and everyone wants to know what it is and a little of it's history. The MK1 has many unusual details you find in Golden Era aircraft when aviation was full of people experimenting without too many preconceived ideas pushing the envelope. Looking at my avatar it's not hard for you to see what I like, they only built 14 of that airplane.

RE: Looking for PDF Plans for a Swizzle Stick / Stick .40
It has been a long time since I have seen a swizzle stik. They were a pretty basic airplanes if I remember right there were two planes with that name one was US design with a simple stick rear fuselage and a UK version similar to the Ugly Stik. I believe Ace made a simolar airplane I just can't remember the name. If you can find someone with the old Ace plans you might find something you like. It seems I inherted a set of the Ace plans but I have no idea where to find them.

RE: Sig Fazer
SIG does the same thing on the LT-40 I built. The tail held quite well for me until I parked in the canopy of a large tree and my son used the vertical stab/rudder to pull it free. I ended up adding a little triangle balsa stock on each side when I reattached it. I fly my LT-40 leisurely doing nothing more aggressive than loops, a little inverted flight, and barrel rolls. If you think you'll more aggressive and put more stress on the airplane go ahead and add a little reinforcement, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. Mike

RE: Midwest Malibu .40
My best guess as a place to try would be Uncle Willie's plans. I have gotten a little crosswise with him because I challenged him for selling plans copywritten by other companies. He has been banned by RCU and Ebay as well as other sites and some ISPs because of copywrite violations but he does have some plans for long gone airplanes. I copywrite is good for about 85 years so you can see why the legalities are a mess when a design o company has been gone for decades.

RE: Midwest Malibu .40
It's a rare bird alright. I remember building one Midwest kit and that was the sweet stik. There problem back then was they seemed to have designs that looked liked every one else's airplanes so it was the luck of the draw if your hobby shop carried their kit over someone else's.
ORIGINAL: VincentJ A package awaited me at my back door today when I arrived home, it was the fiberglass cowl that I had ordered from Fiberglass Specialties. I always like to buy my cowls or wheelpants from them as I have always had good luck with the fit and finish of their products. It costs me about the same and I like supporting my LHS to keep him around for when I need his sage advise!
ORIGINAL: ghoffman What did servos look like 40 years ago?
I can say from personal experience BIG! Here is a picture of the first servos I ever used. They had an advantage when used for a pull-pull system. Before you jump to any conclusions I was 13 and I built them from an obsolete Heathkit kit with a 2 stick 3 channel radio. They are Kraft KPS-9 servos in case any of you wet behind the ears pups don't recognize them. [;)]

I was thinking I can't afford it at this time maybe one of the people following this thread would like to join in the building. There are a lot Ryan lovers out there.
