RE: TBM Shock Jet
Mine did not have the slots cut. I did use the supplied hinges. All good for 29 flights to date.

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20

RE: How much do you pay to fly at your club?
Our dues are $72/yr. Plus AMA. A good place to fly is more valuable than all my airplanes put together. That makes dues seem like an incredible value.

RE: guests pilots
All the money we spend on airplanes is wasted if we don't have a place to fly them. And, even expensive club dues are small when compared to the cost of airplanes, radios, truck and trailer, etc.. Anyplace I'm going to fly at more than once, I'm going to offer to pay dues.

RE: Good Second Plane
I think the 4star would also be a good 2nd airplane. And building from a kit is an excellent experience. SIG instructions are great! Now they have a small electric version. The Stryker flight characteristics are like any other aileron / elevator airplane. But, the radio set up is different, it is fast (especially when modified), and the hand launch takes a little practice. Probably not the best choice for 2nd airplane. But, if you get some experienced help, maybe ok.

Parkzone T28 would make an excellent 2nd airplane.

RE: Sig Four Star 120 Engine Choosing
I built a full wing 4 star 120 with a saito 120 just like the plans. It flew great! Power wise, it just barely would hover at wot. Vertical was good but not unlimited. I traded it to a friend about a year ago. He put a dle20 on it 2weeks ago and let me fly it. WOW! It is a good bit faster now. Absolutely unlimited vertical. And, hovers easily at half throttle. However, he did loose that cool 4 stroke sound, had to add weight to the nose, and cut a hunk out of the cheek for the muffler. If I were to build another today, I would shorten the wing, enlarge all the control surfaces, and use a dle 30 with a cowl from fiberglass specialties.

RE: Do I have the Right?
Plan A: outrun the dog. makes for a good sprint. Plan B: squirt from my water bottle. usually slows them down. Plan C: kick to the chops.

RE: Every plane has to crash someday? Can it last for years
An old timer at the field once told me "a fellow needs to crash once in a while so he will have an excuse to build something new".

RE: I love Club 40
Just got back from Don Stegall hobby shop. I am not new to flying. But, I am new to racing planes. Wanted to let all know Don is a great guy. Very helpful getting started right.

RE: Sig Rascal 110
I can't take credit for the idea. One day when I landed with the strut dangling loose, one of the old timers in my club suggested fixing it that way. I figured if one stripped the others would sooner or later. So, I put the hardwood dowl in the wings and fuse.

RE: Sig Rascal 110
Mr. Stang. I drilled mine out, epoxied in a hardwood dowl, and then drilled and tapped for 4-40.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker
Hi Johnny C. We met at the Joe Nall. I was spotting on Wed. for the 1/2 scale S/W. It was an awsome plane. There is a picture of it in the IMAA magazine. It is in the ad for The Rally of the Giants. The plane was so inspiring, I bought a used 1/3 Sig S/W. But, it too needs a pilot. Which one is recommended?

RE: Second plane Biplane?
Try the Great Planes Tiger Moth. It flies very slow. Just about have to cut the engine to get it to come down.
