RE: HS 5000 gyro problem/ ?
Thanks for the responses. They pointed me in the right direction and helped me get dialed in again. I did go over the mechanicals & had them pretty much set up right. It was the change to the DX7 that ws the problem. I had to go thru the entire new radio setup procedures to get it all straightened out. Once again 2 things become obvious. When all else fails, read the instructions & #2, I am the limiting factor in this heli's ability to fly. Thanks!!! Andy

RE: Trex 450 tail boom coming loose
That's an interesting problem. My Trex 450 SA has trouble with the tail boom coming loose in the plastic holder with the plastic connectors inside the block. I've upgraded to metal connectors in the plastic boom holder & it seems to have a better grip. of course that is with the braces on because I don't have it in one of the cool fusulages like you have. Very nice, BTW. I would think you could get a bolt from top to bottom in the boom block with a groove in each side of the block, BUT you are going to have to be sure it does not interfere with the way the belt goes thru that area. Let us know what you find out & end up doing to solve the problem. Have you gotten any advice from the folks in the scale forums? Andy

HS 5000 gyro problem/ ?
I have a new & unusual problem with my TRex 450. After having it evaluated at the hobby shop, they came up with the conclusion it is a bad gyro. Before I take it off & send it back for service, I would like to ask your advice & opinion. When I go to take off the heli spins left. After going all thru the trims and gains settings on a new DX7 that I just set up as my new radio, it is taking off better and staying straight on right rudder. Any left rudder, however goes full hard left - FAST -. Really not flyable, so I need to figure out what else I can do. Your help and advice will be appreciated. Andy

RE: Sukhoi Su-26M BNF by ParkZone
Flew it tonight, Prop actually survived. Much better tonight w/ the battery all the way back, 50% expo and travel decreased and no landing gear. Still rolled pretty twitchy & didn't like inverted, but it flew! Could use more power. I'll probably try some of the higher C rated batteries. Will get to fly again next week. Andy

Okay guys, as of this morning the LHS does not have propellers or the landing gear. Does anyone have any extras they would be willing to sell? TIA, Andy

RE: Sukhoi Su-26M BNF by ParkZone
Great thread guys. good ideas, because my Sukhoi has flown terriblly on the first day. Rechecked the balance and the battery position. Lost my landing gear too! Anyone have an extra one to sell, My LHS & HH have them backordered. I would prefer to fly w/ a gear. Let me know if there is an extra 1 around. Thanks, Andy

RE: 450SE V2 Spins.
Sounds like your tail belt drive gear is starting to slip on the shaft. Try holding the tail blades and hand spinning the rotor blades. Watch the gear for the tail belt. Let us know, Andy

RE: Weird problem with my Trex SA....
I agree w/ OldScale Guy. When I have put the tail rotor into the grass, it makes that gear slip. I fixed mine w/ A LITTLE bit of JB Weld on the inside of the gear, pressing it on the shaft carefully to not get JB Weld into the bearing. You have to take it out of the heli to do it. Andy

RE: I need to tight a little the belt...How to?
loosen the 4 screws on each side of the boom block a little & the 2 screws on top of the horizontal fin a litttle. Pull the boom back to get the belt right and the tail gear square. Tighten up the screws, do not strip them. Silicone on the belt. good luck. Andy

RE: Trex 450SA can it use 45 SE V2 parts?
So far, the only parts I have found that weren't compatible were the blade holder, spindle shafts, dampers and the head piece they go thru. The SA is equivalent to the V1 with the narrower shafts, the V2 has the thicker shafts. So if you changed the whole upper head as a unit you'd be fine. Andy Been there, done that, have the parts...

RE: Trex 450 recomended tools
Align brand hex wrenches, a pitch gauge, and ball link pliers. A magic machine for making more money for the hobby line in the budget might help too. Good luck, let us all know how it goes. Andy

RE: Same Trex Peice keeps breaking, REALLY NEED HELP
DJ, check your endpoints out of heading hold, to set your tail up mechanically. After it is set, then set it up in heading hold. The more servo travel you get without binding, the more resolution you get out of the servo. In order to get your push rod more paralell (sp?) you might want to put your servo on the other side of the mounts which would get the servo horn closer to the tail boom. Good Luck, Let us all know what you finally figure out to solve the problem. Andy

RE: DEAL OF THE YEAR !
Nice find. You may want to move the tail servo to the other side of the boom to try to help protect it from a blade strike. Andy

RE: T-Rex 250 for beginner?
TST, My $.02,FWIW: I went thru the BladeCP, the heli Max AXE CP and still have a barely usable anymore Honey Bee King I, Now I fly mostly the Trex 450 SA, that I'vedone a lot of rebuilding on, as I had done on the CP & the Axe. When I finally got able to fly on the HBK I went to the Trex, clearly a different level of machine. Then I went back to the CP & the Axe to see what I could do w/ them. With all the skills I had then I could make the Axe fly kind of and I could chase around the CP - barely. In my hands the HBK was a better flyer and the Trex a much better flyer. I also did the Radd's school after I just crashed too many times, basically each flight. Andy

RE: New Trex - STOKED *w/ pics*
KoolAid, I like the pictures, seems like you are coming along. I'm not so sure about the antenna position. My CP Pro had it wrapped up like that, too. I took mine and wrapped it a continous spiral around a plastic spru from a plastic kit and that held it in place with heatshrink covering. The picture is from early on when I started, 12 - 2006 Andy

RE: Any advice for an Old Guy that wants to fly?
Jerrymac, i've got you by 10 years and love this obby. There is a definite learning curve. The other advice i've seen here for you is good. You don't need much altitude at all to learn to fly. If there was any one recommendation i would give it would be to become another student of Radd's School of Rotary Flight. Then keep going on the simulator. I don't know the one you fly, but I fly 2 of them on my computer and try to relearn all the lessons. Good Luck let us all know how it goes for you. Andy

RE: Would you buy a crashed heli?
It really is a matter of whether you want to rebuild or not. As to buying a crashed heli, I would think it is actually better than getting a rebuilt one that you still have to go over. My Raptor 30 was a basket case. Literally in several pieces. I like to tinker, got the tail unit, head unit and finally a new motor. I can hover it now! All things have a value, what that is is determined by the buyer & seller agreeing, hopefully you get a fair price and your buyer gets a fair value for what he or she pays. Andy

RE: T-Rex 450SA arf starting out questions
Unstable, I changed to Youngblood Red dampers when I had trouble getting my blades to track well. I found the stock ones degenerating. From crashes Ive changed to a metal tail case. I have x-gear spider gear on for shock absorbtion. I use my simulator a lot and the lessons from Radd's. Have fun, let us all know how you do. Andy

RE: T rex
Dave I have a 450 SA. It is alot more helicopter than I can command. The limiting factor in it's flying is definitely the pilot, not the machine. My philosophy is that when the machine is the limiting factor, then I will be able to tell the difference in a different machine. That said, I have also done a number of upgrades as I have done a number of rebuilds/repairs. In each of those steps
