RE: Help! What motor to use for 18a ESC
Thank you for the calculator. I believe I have found a combo that will work. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__14396__Turnigy_Park480_Brushless_Outrunner_1020kv_.html with a 10 x 6 e prop (apc) will pull 21.86 amps. and produce almost 3 lbs with of thrust. This setup will be going on a uav quadracopter and will very rarely see anything above 80% power. Do you think this motor prop esc combo will be okay? Steven

Help! What motor to use for 18a ESC
Good evening gentlemen . I have 4 Detrum esc labeled as 18A continuous. Anyone willing to suggest a motor/prop combo for these? Id like to build a quadra copter looking for large amounts of static thrust. Because im not sure this thing will fly (for very long anyways) low cost brush less motors would be perfect Edit. 18 amps esc is rated for 22 amp 10 second burst Steven

RE: Help! What motor to use for 18a ESC
Thank you for the source. My problem is that I have no idea how to pick a motor/prop combo. Iv always been on the glow/gas side of things. What's the max thrust I can get out of an 18 amp esc anyways? 2 - 2.5 lbs I'm thinking? Steven

Do you think say 50% + shipping would be a fair price? I really don't know what used engines go for. [:o] Steven

How much do used engines go for?
Hey guys, Just looking to get a ball park figure. I've got a jett 50 FIRE, used less then 1 gallon of fuel burnt thought it. It was attached to a gp viper 500 with rise header and full length tuned pipe. Story is basically 2 years ago i was flying it buncha club guys watching and it turned into the good old 'lower, lower ,lower' so eventually one of my low passes was a bit tooo low

RE: transmitter case
Just a tip: Never set up a transmitter case so that the antenna is pointing down when you carry it normally. Doing so could mean serious damage should you drop the case. Steven

RE: Aviation Fuel
ORIGINAL: jetmech05 Why is it illegal.....Jet A/A-1 is not as dangerious as gasoline...just high grade kerosene... I would think it would be illegal if you didn't have an approved container though
When you buy normal gas your paying 'road taxe'. You do not pay these taxes when buying aviation fuel. Its a tax thing. FBO's cant legally sell it to you if they believe it will end up in a road vehicle. Steven

RE: Aviation Fuel
Give your local airport a call. Your going to need to talk to an FBO (fixed based operator) and he can guide you. When you do go to the airport bring what ever fuel jug you wish you have fuel put in. Make sure the fuel jug has at least a 1 and a half inch opening, nozzles used for fueling are larger then those of your normal gas station. The other thing to remember is precision its not easy to fill a small jug with inch and a quarter nozzles at 10-15 psi requires time, you may want to tip the person serving you. Why do you need this fuel?

RE: Speed Prop For OS 55AX going on a Supersportster MKII
I have this combination my personal preference is a master airscrew 13x8. The 55ax will not be a screamer as said above but will go fairly quick. I have mine setup with the supplied muffler. I never had flutter issue but i have broken a wing once do not do multiple snap rolls witht he thing at full throttle its a lot of fun but it shortens the life span of the airplane. Steven

RE: Fuel costs and options
Hi guys I read the forums a lot but am less active than i used to be. First off im not a jet guy but thought i may have some tips. If your willing to run Jet a1 /Jet a i suggest you contact your localairport they take samples everyday to insure quality. these samples arethen put in barrels. They probably have to pay tog get ride of these soif your willing to take it off there hands for free they'd probablygive them to you. Only thing is this : there may be water in the fuel but that is noteven a problem let it settle for 2 minutes and it will all be in thebottom of the barrel. Steven

The prop is a aifoil, yes it has pitch but just the fact its an airfoil mean that its alot more than just prop pitch.

Jet A1 Can it be used?
Hi guys I'm not a jet guy but I have just started working at an airport and know some local jet guys Is there a reason not to use Jet A1 ? This is what the airport stocks its cheaper than kero from the hardware store (where they normally get it) it has some additives that i would imagine are beneficial (anti static ect.) Can this fuel be used in model turbines? (Note: ' Jet A ' and 'Jet A1' are not exactly the same the A1 has other additives to help in colder areas) Steven

RE: What apc prop?
It can handle 200 watts according to this site http://www.paragonrc.com.au/20.html so i guess the 8 x 4 apc E prop is the way to go cyclops2 : Thank you very much for your time in calculating these numbers. It is people like you that make this hobby a truly great thing.

RE: What apc prop?
ORIGINAL: cyclops2 OK Speedy over revving engines will start to bend the GWS sport props. Bite the bullet. You need MUCH stiffer props. APC makes a E series go to their website. Then find a retailer. Being a much deeper prop at the hub area is going to eat some horsepower. You should regain that back with no flexing during violent combat turns. Enjoy.
ok so apc 8 x 4 will equal the load as the gws? I only ask as i do not want to burn anything up and have no way of checking amps... (and i'm an electric noob)
