RE: DLE vs 3W,DA,Zenoah even OS
Well, 3W is my brand for giant 2 cycle ops. Lots of power and cranks every time. I've owned 7 different 3W engines and am currently running a 3W157 on a 46% Ultimate, it'll go strait up al long as you care to. Guess that makes me the black sheep here, but every heard has at least one! :)

RE: What transmitter?
After reading the manual and checking everything out, I think it's worth it as far as cost is concerned. There's not much this radio can't do as far as models are concerned. Plus it's hella cool!

It'll be here tomorrow! Can't wait. Now I'll spend a few days digesting the manual. (already started that). I've never owned anything but Futaba and I'm proud to own the flagship system for my Ultimate, CA Pitts, and my silver bullet BD5.

RE: BD-5J Project
Eric I really appreciate your response and all the info. It really speaks well of a product when potential customers can get a response from a manufacturer like the one you provided. While I missed you on this purchase, you probably just sold another engine down the road on one of my future projects. Thank you sir Ron

RE: BD-5J Project
Frank Thanks for that info, I read your mod post very carefully and I intend to follow it by the letter. This Gen 2 BD is supposed to be a couple pounds lighter, I had already went with the Jetcat P100. Already looking down the road to another jet, so I will definitely be looking at the Jet Cental turbines. I'll keep you guys posted with build pics and detailed data when the build begins. Ron

RE: BD-5J Project
I guess so right? I have always admired this plane, like most of us have, since seeing it in action in the James Bond film. I saw one video of the plane at some airshow and it looked like it handled pretty good, good manners on landing and such. Straight wing with flaps usually equals good flying characteristics.

RE: I DID IT!!First solo flight, well first flight period
Congrats on your first solo. I wound up teaching myself to fly in the days before sims. Went to a big club in xxxxxxxx, looking for some help to learn to fly, they made fun of me bringing a trainer plane to the field so I promptly loaded up and went back home. Took a total of 3 trainers, but I did teach myself in our industrial park all by myself. That was 27 years ago. I belong to that club today, and have always been AMA. Can be done

I'm sure you will enjoy it either way you go. Take your time on the build and you will be rewarded with many years of faithful service. The Ultimate in the pics that has the "JR" on the side is my friends plane, and it's 6 years oldstill looks new.

RE: Need some info on the Hangar 9 46% ulitmate
That tailwheel in the Carden link is exactly the tailwheel I used. I went with a Smartfly EQ6 Turbo on this Ultimate, really like it.

RE: Need some info on the Hangar 9 46% ulitmate
You can use any heavy duty tailwheel you want, with the "wire" ones, you have to mount a large dowel in the tail to stiffen things up, and drill into it for the wire to have more purchase. For a flat mount like white rose, ect, just add some a/c plywood and triangle stock, otherwise you will rip out the tailwheel. I like te electrodynamic stuff, works good and last long time.

RE: Need some info on the Hangar 9 46% ulitmate
Torque would be a little lower, I doubt you'd be able to tell the diff tho. Mine is running on the relion seiko driver @ 11 volts. The 7.4 pack runs @ 8 volts any way so if you've got one, use it. I used Robert giant scale hinge points on the ailerons, but used dubro giant scale flat hinges on the rudder and elevators, pinned them, and then sealed the gaps. Hysol is bad to the bone, I'm using it on my CompArf Pitts, I like it, but on my Ultimate, I used good ole pacer 30 min epoxy with a little milled fiberglass. I'll send you some pics of the Pitts.
