RE: vintage r/c recievers
If you want a s/c transmitter with lots of oomph..see if you can find a World Engines Mule...I don't have one any more, but I remember it worked great and I never got out of range even with the plane a speck in the sky.. Frank Schwartz

Hello, Al. Glad to hear you are still with us. I hope you remember me. Frank Schwartz... You might be intersted to know that your and my friend. L. E. Mooneyhan of Skyglas here in the Nashville area, died a few years ago of lung cancer. He was quite a craftsman and I still see some of his fiberglas fuselages and foam wing core kits at the R/C Flea markets.

RE: Mr. Space Control flys again video
Well, goody for you guys. I never saw but three Space controls work. This one on this web site, and one that Hal DeBolt had and the one Zel Ritchie demonstrated at the DC R/c Symposium. He flew it in an Orion with a Johnson 35 R/c and the Johnson pitch changing prop...when slowed down the prop went almost flat and the landings were very slow due to the prop not pulling air. I had to have one and shelled out about 600 bucks in yesterdays dollars. My wife would have killed me if she had known. It crashed every plane I put it in. I would send it back after every crash and then wait months for it to come back. I would call and was never allowed to speak to Ritchie or Toomin as they were always "in meetings". I would beg and grovel and after a few more months it would come back. I finally got tired of every flight being a crash and sold it for practically nothing. The only problem I found in the shop was that as the transmitter filament voltages started slowly to come down, say 1/4 or less volt the centering would drift. It may have been a wonder in its day, but to me it was just another expensive piece of R/C equipment that was over priced and did not come anywhere near meeting expectations. Sure I am ticked off...I was then and am still now, when I think about what I spent and did not get. Phooey to Toomin and nuts to the always unavailable Mr. Ritchie... Oh, in case you think I did not know how to fly...I still have my trophies from pattern contests using reeds....

RE: potting electronics?
Idoubt that it was a spray. The coating appeared to have been poured on and was quite thick and really covered every part on the pc board...and the coating was not flexible or rubbery...was hard to see the values of the components. Frank

That is very intersting. Especially since I always used a VISE myself when I was bending wire. However some people who have a bit of moral turpitude, along with other shameful vices...might indeed, use their VICE. But hard to bend wire withit.... RE: Debolt
Your experience with the flat spin is in keeping with my experience with the Jenny. Until just now did I learn that some people added a ventral (?) fin and cured the problem that could occur. I would appreciate s aketch or picture of this added lower (?) fin. Now a bit of Jenny humor...years ago at the flying field in Nashville during a contest, Jim Edwards was in attendance from Mississipi. Jim was a hot Pattern competitor and later was team captain for one of the US International Pattern Competition Team... So..he had just brought a new Jenny along and was flying it for fun during a break..and flying it quite well, too. A friend and I were standing near him and began to discuss loudly where he could hear us as to whether he would spin the Jenny or not. Sure enough, Jim put it in a spin and sure enough, it went into a flat spin coming slowly down and sustained no damage. As Jim struggled vainly to get it out of the spin he hollered back to us instigators.."you S.O.B.s !! " while we were convulsed with laughter....Jim is now not in good health and I have not seen him in some years...last time was at Toledo about five years ago. if anyone knows him and asks him about that event, I am sure he will remember!! Regards to all.......

RE: Debolt
Yes...I know about that flat spin...for those who flew the Jenny and never had it happen...you just never tried to spin it that way. And once in the flat spin, it was nearly impossible to get it out. I sure would like to see the "fix" as mentioed..

OS Wankel First Model part needed
I have an OS Wankel and it is the first model they produced. This model had a muffler that attached to the round pipe coming from the motor itself and it clamped on the small pipe. I have the motor but need the muffler. Anyone got a spare muffler for this one? It still runs and swings a 10/4 nicely...but needs the muffler. Frank Schwartz

RE: Debolt
Bob: Congrats on the "new" Jenny kit. I fear the 60 will make it a grossly over powered plane. The 40s and the 45s of today have much more power than the 40s used in the jennys of yesteryear. Good luck and watch out for the flat spins!! Frank
