RE: Question for YHR and other electronic guys.
a potentiometer will adjust the voltage that is for sure, where that goes I think is directly to failed shots, lack of distance and slow shot times. I think the easiest way to allow for armor thickness simulations is to re-code the recieved signal. If it is the sender how do they know what tank they hit or where they hit it. Like Buckeye says about the El Mod ( and if they do it it isn't impossible ) If you re-coded the recieved signal in theory you could program for anything you want, Battle units with more than one reciever could act based on where the shot came from damaging specific modules you would find in a tank. ie take a shot on the front left - a tank could pivot turn only use the right track for power. this needs to be taken to board and apple makers to be changed and it will boil down to cost.

RE: Self-centering made cheap.
i'll give you shipping costs and 10 bucks for a DX6I self center set. Apparently there is a few things I need to learn about casting resin lol I got it out of the mold and looked great till i put some stress on it and snap there she goes, two pieces. Once it is dry you can tell this resin I have is okay for something that doesn't move but way too brittle for anything thet needs strength.
ORIGINAL: ausf Was it the DX6i? The link to the other thread mentioned they'll change out 6s, but not 5s, have no idea why. All I know is they have taken care of anything I've ever asked for and then some and if you ever come across beginner AC sections, you'll find hundreds of stories regarding their top notch service. Personally, they've sent me replacement motors, servos, even batteries after a crash, always free and never once asked how old or where I bought it.
RE: Self-centering made cheap.
I was quoted $40.00 to have the left stick centered, shipping to and from was on my Tab. Had to speak with 3 or 4 people as well. I called Futaba to do the same for my T6EX and in one week I had the parts at my door with 0 cost. My turnigy you can get the info on a how to all over the net. RE: TAIGEN FACTORY PICTURES
And how can you gaurantee anything about these workers in particular? There is no evidence in these photos of either satisfaction or disatisfaction. There is no evidence really of anything in these pictures. In my opinion these pics show Taigen for what I think it is. An assembly operation. There are no presses in the pics, no casting equipment, no molds, no manufacturing apparatus. It shows parts stacked, assembly operations, and either a rework or a test spot. other than that they show very little. The only thing of mention in these pics is the King Tiger but sadly it is an upper and if Taigen comes out with an HL lower then why would I pay more for it? I can see the benefit if it is a torsion system but not if it is a reworked HL People say that is why you get cheap prices, Well actually they have no idea what they are talking about. The cost of manufacture isn't changed by providing a few low cost tools for your employees. The very idea that we can accept the "That is the way it's done attitude" is what galls me the most. Why do I need to accept anything I know is wrong? Lets look at the flip side of the coin. Is it acceptable to have 75% of your workforce listed as a part time employee? lets keep people at 23 hours a week but hire more of them. Keep the wages at 1/3 of what we pay a full timer, don't offer healthcare etc Company says we need to keep costs in line though. Well what they are actually saying is we need to keep profit levels up. I support making profit, every business needs to do it BUT every company has a duty to its employees as well. Ronan you of all people lament all the time about the high cost of product but would you not pay an extra $1.00 or $2.00 more for a product to know that certain standards were upheld throughout the manufacturing process? Hell, I know I would pay an extra 50 bucks to see the tanks manufactured in North America. Long term the only way the North American economy will get back on its feet is too see some of those products made in China come back here. Its not the workers or consumers that benefit from poor working conditions. Companies, Speculators and Investors benefit from them. Its the attitude I am railing against here not Taigen or anyone in particular. Like I said in my first post here I would not have let pics of my plant get posted in the first place.
ORIGINAL: Ronan87 I have seen Chinese sweatshops and i can tell you, this is NOT one of them. Yes they should get proper workbenches and chairs. But i can guarantee you that: #1 Those employee's ARE happy. #2 The facility is at least providing them with basic tools and some workbenches (piled with stuff, if someone wants to use it, they just have to reorganize). #3 A clean and safe workplace (and a nice roof). #4 A job that doesn't involve kids working there, dangerous work, harassment, field work. It is shocking to western culture to see this, but remember, this is one of the way's your 'Made in China' product cost a lot less. It gets a LOT LOT LOT worst than this. For Chinese mass produce workers, this is pretty luxurious and i would say that Taigen is heading in the right direction. Now if you want to voice concerns about work ethics, contact Taigen, be professional and courteous about it.
RE: TAIGEN FACTORY PICTURES
yes really? Working conditions should be paramount REGARDLESS of where the product is made, Regardless of who makes it. Cheap prices can be got anywhere, you don't have to go to China or Taiwan to get them same poor working conditions, they are all over the world. Stand by don't say nothing, why should we care right? We are getting low cost product. A proper workplace would have a jig that the tank sits in and holds the tank safely so it can be staticly run, On a work table with a chair for the worker. I guess though you are right, In China those one time investments might cost all of $30.00 US dollars which really changes the total profit picture for Taigen, Imex and you as a reseller and all the end use customers out there. What does it add $0.0003 per tank?
ORIGINAL: Baron Fel Really, this is what you guys are worried about? Not the fact that there is a new King Tiger coming soon but if they have a work bench to use. *sigh* Ok, Let's look at the first pic because most of you are concerned about this guy. First, he is not squatting but is sitting on a stool and thereis a bowl of parts at his feet that he is adding to the smoker. The reason heis on the floor is once he is done he tests the tank by running on the floor.See the battery? See the controller?!? See the TRACK MARKS ON THE FLOOR?!? Doesn't take a smart man to figure that out. Even my 8 year old son understands this pic, he just walked by my laptop and told me that he wanted that man's job because he gets to drive tanks all day. You guys wanted to know about Taigen and I get IMAX to post pics and then you insult them?!? Wow. Sad. No one is using slave labor. Taigen is a good company, employing good people, making good tanks at a good price for YOU! Tony Oglesby
just an idea but why not use the parts from the other pot, copy them in cast resin and install them. I just did that to my DX6, once the parts are cured I am pretty sure they are going to be drop ins. Better yet though how about Spectrum get off their butt and offer the self centering parts? I won't ever buy their radio again because of their lack of support.

RE: Clark electronics TK20
Very powerful post here of which i would agree 100%.
ORIGINAL: B.A.D.A.S.S.Force
Original Quote from RCTankRegiment member: clarkmodel We pull damage simulation out from TK20-T cuz we found some HL metal gear box is not moving smoothly and may not able to start when track esc output is reduced to 25%. A software that we are going to release for TK20-T has re-included this function again as most of user are still using HL plastic gear box. Other change to this release(Named TK20, no more suffix) are: 1. To unified -T and -H version by adding Gun Flash Port Configuration function, so that user can select tamiya recoil, hl recoil or airsoft in one board. disadvantage is you will need SONY remote to configure it first. default setting for is tamiya recoil. 2. To Increase battle unit flash brightness, 3. repair mode flash light effect. All TK20-T are welcome to receive this update by sending it back to us after Oct 15th. board shipped recently is programmed with this release already. Regards, Clark
Just thought I'd share this newly discovered information from another forum here, it's about the initially shipped TK-20-T boards ... The above quote was a response to an observation made by another RCTankRegiment member about damage simulation seeming to not work at all on their new Clark TK-20-T board installed in their tank. Unfortunately, from what the post implied, it seems that anyone ordering & getting the first batch of boards sent out over the first couple weeks aren't exactly getting all the features which they were supposed to get, like the damage simulation feature which Clark had showing on the TK-20 information & specification website page when the boards were ordered. This is quite disappointing & a very poor business practice with how it was handled ... It's great Clark is making some changes for the better by already updating the release, & allowing TK-20-T owners to send their boards back for re-programming or exchanging, but the methods chosen to accomplish the change were poorly executed to say the least! But why is this news only just made available now because a new owner of a TK-20 board found out the damage simulation function was not working & happened to mention it on the other forum in one of their posts? If there was enough time to update the software in all of the boards to remove the damage simulation function before the initial shipping, why weren't paying customers emailed & given the choice to either receive the cards without the function, have their orders placed on hold & shipped later after the function was restored to the boards with the new software release, or allowed the opportunity to even cancel orders for a refund? Even if a fix hadn't been found at the time of the shipping, the options should have been made available anyway. For months I was trying to decide on which electronics package I was going to purchase to replace my HL electronics. Weighing all the factors between various boards, like the SLU, DBC3, IBU, MAKO, & TK-20 ... the TK-20 seemed to have everything I was looking for right now, & at a great price. One of the main battle requirements I was looking for in a new board, was to have the damage simulation function. Without that feature, I would not have even considered the Clark TK-20 boards as a purchasing option ... & even though that feature was supposed to be on the boards which I ordered & paid for about 3 weeks ago, I'm just now being indirectly informed through a forum post that the feature was removed! Hey, I still realize the possibility that with even having to pay shipping just back to Clark, or even there & back to get updated release versions of the TK-20 board, the final costs of them will still be a great value if they eventually perform well with all their expected functionality. So in the end I may still be getting a great deal for a quality board with all the working functions it was said to contain, though that's yet to be seen. However, the way this issue was handled is still not going to help Clark in gaining customer confidence or better customer relations in my opinion. Sometimes it's better to let customers know the bad right up front & give them some choices, rather than keeping them in the dark, & this was one of those instances for sure! ~ Craig ~
RE: Plug for Mato Mart
here is a link to the law for those interested souls. Section 15 is the main one and I believe subsection 2 has been the topic here as it pertains to internet type sales usually because you buy based on descriptions of products. http://www.canadalegal.com/gosite.asp?s=1880 There are so many holes in this though they may as well not have written it. Here is the meaning of merchantable merchantable adj. a product of a high enough quality to make it fit for sale. To be merchantable an article for sale must be usable for the purpose it is made. It must be of average worth (not necessarily special) in the marketplace and must not be broken, unworkable, damaged, contaminated or flawed. Anybody wanting to use this to make a case or file an action etc better consult a lawyer and then think twice. Lawyers are the only people that make money 100% of the time, Win or Lose.
ORIGINAL: Jeff489
As for the law in Ontario with regard to prodact warranty, If the terms of warranty if not clearly posted is Caveat emptor. Or for the non latin Buyer Beware.
Not so with new products. According to the SALE OF GOODS ACT (R.S.O. 1990) it would appear that new goods sold in Ontario come with an implied condition (a.k.a. warranty) that the good must be of merchantable quality at the time of sale ("merchantable quality" usually means that it works like you thought it would when you get it...) Of course, there can be exclusions and waivers. Check with your local laws to be sure. But, "caveat emptor" is not necessarily applicable here. That's probably why the vendor is so helpful with returns and customer assistance.
RE: Plug for Mato Mart
I agree with Ausf, I am selling product and I don't want my phone or address out there. As for the law in Ontario with regard to prodact warranty, If the terms of warranty if not clearly posted is Caveat emptor. Or for the non latin Buyer Beware. As for electronics once power has been supplied to a product most companies do not warrant anything unless it is a manufacting defect. Pretty hard to prove a motor or LED was gone before you turned it on. I personally had one issue with Mato that got cleared up quick because it was the postman that screwed me lol I would stay in contact with them and keep my situation up front and honest. I would forward the first e-mail I sent to them and be blunt and ask what they are going to do to satisfy my complaint. 3 months is a long time to have something in the works though and your complaint just based on the service time seems to be fair.
ORIGINAL: ausf
ORIGINAL: mustclime My advice..........Never buy anythng from a compeny that has an address as a po box and does not list a phone number. Its a sure sign you are dealing with a crooks.
So I guess I'm a crook. I've had an online business for over 7 years now. I had a phone line tied to it for the first few years and received exactly two calls in that time. Both were to give me their credit card numbers which I don't take over the phone. They are processed securely online, I never get CC numbers or want to (would you want your CC info on my laptop?). It didn't make sense to pay $60 a month for something I never used, since all my importing was done via email, I never called out. Besides, the beauty of an online business is the flexibility of not being tied to 'business hours' and at least half of my customer base is overseas, where phone communication isn't a good option with time zones and language. As far as PO Box, do you want to publish your home address online? Even if you had Matomart's address, it doesn't help, I doubt you are going to drive to Ontario over a RC boat and in terms of the law, the PO Box is just as actionable as a building. In any online transaction, you credit card is the easiest way to rectify a situation that arises. Unless you send cash via Western Union, you are protected.
RE: Waltersons 3 speed gearboxes
The price tag is reported to be around $69.00 US. These are not your standard gear boxes though as when ordering you need to make sure you order the right ones because of the plates. These gear sets in my opinion are really nice, The 3 gears offer different ratios so you can kind of tweak your tank speed a bit. The one bad thing with everyone's gears except impact is it is a single ratio. Gears may fit in a few tanks but I believe a Panzer IV had a different road speed than a Panther. TankDuel are they still coming with the hardened Brass shafts? That is the only thing I would love to see changed, a good rugged steel shaft would be great.

RE: The origins of Heng Long tank designs
Wow this thread has survived way longer than I thought it would. The argument here about the origins is kind of a moot point. I remember being a little tyke and tam came out with a tank model that ran in a straight direction, no reverse on 4 C cells. As that had to be the first serious motorized tank then Tamiya would have been first to market. As such being first to market would mean that in some way everybody that follows copies Tamiya in some form. Has Heng Long copied any part or idea from Tamiya? The only thing that I honestly think was tore down and re-engineered to be cheaper to manufacture was the gearbox. The rest of the HL tanks manufacturing is made based on ease of manufacture and lower cost production. Tamiya gets around that cost because it is a kit, by now though they are making a ton of cash on their molds.
