RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
The gear I use, and I have the same problem, is the dubro Cat. No. 789 gear. I attach it with 1/4-20 nylon bolts and 1/4-20 T-nuts. I fly from a rough field and have seen too many gear blocks ripped out of the fuse of the 46 size and the 60 size. With this method, just the nylon screws get sheared off, with no damage to the fuse. Further back in this thread, I have some pictures of the gear. Also, I do not use the wheel pants. Have fun, you will love this plane. It is what I fly most, and I have 16 other models. I am an ex pattern flyer and I fly a lot of full throttle with my O.S. 91 4C, but I also cover the hinge lines. No flutter yet, but Barry gave you some good advice.

Submike RE: U-Can-Do 46 You will love this plane with a Saito 100. CG at 6 inches. I don't know about the prop. The gear sucks, I use Dubro plastic gear, and I don't bother with the wheel pants on a grass field. I also use a Sullivan tail wheel bracket. Nothing better. Enjoy. Regards, FRED

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Hello, Mando Nothing wrong with cutting into the cockpit area, I would paint the inside of the canopy so the tank doesn't show. However, I am curious. I haven't put a tank on the C.G. since I competed in pattern. For the U-Can-Do 46 the tank is 9.13 oz and fits nicely against the firewall. Just following the directions on this ship results in a great fun plane. Regards, FRED

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Hello, Blackbird A mod I have made is the landing gear. I fly from a rough field and changed gear to the Dubro plastic gear. Also, I went to 1/4-20 nylon bolts instead of the 6-32 bolts supplied with the kit. I had to install 1/4-20 T-nuts also. This mod lets the bolts break and the gear come off without any damage to the fuselage. Another mod is bracing the stab with wire. I fly a lot of manuevers that stress the stab because I have an O.S. .91 pumped 4C engine and floats that weigh 2 lbs. I really enjoy the plane. I have 16 others but fly the U-Can-Do 46 mostly.

RE: U Can Do 3D
BARRY I wrote previously, but with the two pictures included, I couldn't get it past my browser. I have an O.S. .91 4 cycle pumper and an APC 14-6 prop. I have tried the C.G. in several places. I have weighed the tail down so in an inverted flat spin the nose was pointed up at about a 20 degree angle and still wouldn't climb. I agree that I need more power for a climbing spin. If anyone reading this is interested in float flying with a .46, I used Goldberg "Super Floats" which adds 2 pounds to the flying weight which is why I used the .91 engine, and the C.G. is at 6 inches. The struts are Dubro plastic gear which is flexible and much better than rigid aluminum for flying where there is turbulance from waves and wake from jet skiis and boats. With the pontoons, the plane spins as flat as a saucer. Comes out of the spin immediately with neutral rudder. High rate on the ailerons is 45 degrees and 60 degrees on the elevator and rudder. There is nothing prettier than a smooth landing on calm water. Beautiful to watch. Exciting to execute.

RE: U Can Do 3D
I fly the 46 do from a very rough field. I use 1/4-20 nylon screws and 1/4-20 T nuts so the gear breaks away instead of ripping out the gear block. I also use the Dubro plastic gear for my floats and field flying. Works for me, I have seen too many guys rip out the gear block.

RE: U Can Do 3D
Hey Barry ! Rising flat spin with a UCD 46? I heard a couple years ago,(maybe from one of your posts), that it can be done. I have done just about everything with my UCD except a rising flat spin. My favorite manuever is an inverted flat spin while on floats and it flat spins like a plate. Beautiful. I have as OS 91 pumped and normally fly with a 14-6 prop. The floats weigh almost exactly 2 pounds. If you want to share your method, I will be your disciple forever. I have been trying to do this but gave it up as futile (for me).

RE: Futaba R617FS 2.4GHz Receiver problem
KRYSTA Thanks for the reply. I want to thank the several people who sent me PM messages to remind me that perhaps a low battery caused a "fail safe lock". This was not the case either in the plane or on the bench, but thank you also for taking the time to respond. To answer the questions regarding my equipment, I use a couple of T9ZAP/WC2 transmitters left over from my pattern days and the TM-7 plug-in module which has been updated/replaced by the Futaba service dept.

regets ama Mike gave you some good advice. I would follow Mike's instructions and if still a problem, use a program mix of right rudder to elevator in 2 degree increments. If you don't have a radio that will do that, I can sell you a used Futaba 9ZAP with all the bells and whistles.
