RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
well if you guys dont know yet, HPI has quit or will quit making the 4.1 savage x. They are now going to be making a Savage X 4.6 for about the same price with a couple of nice changes to the new Savage. Go to HPI's web site and check it out.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
I called hpi about mine and they said the the 4.1 can run up to 270 without an issue. Mine wont run under 350. i had an air leak at the carb, and tried to fix it but i think its still leaking so i guess i will try it again.
ORIGINAL: mountain_of_cheese So 260 is fine for the stock F4.1 engine? I used to idle around 225, then i had that air leak and it surged to 350 a few short times, but trying to closer to the original temps.
ORIGINAL: ThunderbirdJunkie what's wrong with running at 260?

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
i have a friend that has a revo 3.3 and has only had it for like a month. And so far the engine went out, and the rear diff broke. all of this while trying to do the same things my savage X was doing. We didnt even hit that big of a jump when his diff crapped out on him. So i must say that the SAVAGE X in much better than the revo.

Engine Temp Issue
i need some help before i blow an engine. Everyone has told me that the HPI 4.1 in the Savage x should run at 250 degrees correct of incorrect. Mine is running at like 350+ and i cant get this thing to run any cooler. I thought it was the glow plug to i went and got a colder one and it still runs at the same temps. Even at these temp it still runs fine i still have smoke coming from the exhaust, but it makes a high pitch whine when it idleing. Kinda like its running at a high RPM but i know its not. It i try to richen up using the LSN and it starts to run like crap. I have no idea what to do with it. HELP!!!! i just want to play with my truck.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
when its stopped it makes a noise like its running at a really high idle or something. I was told buy my LHS to turn the LSN out 1/8th turn and see what it did but it didnt help. As for where im checking the temp, i am checking it at the glow plug. As for my temp gauge im not sure if its reading right or not. I will try it with another temp gauge. as for an air leak i will look into that and see what i can find. And as for drilling holes in the body, this was without the body on it. Any other thoughts. And thank to those who have given help!!!!! i just want to want to play with my truck.[:D]

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
i had to take channel locks and vise grips to mine to get it off. One on the flywheel and one on the screw. That was the only way to get mine to move. Just make sure you use a rad over the flywheel before you use the vise grips or channel locks.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
I've had my Savage since the 1st of Feb, and let me say i have crashed alot. But i can say anything bad about the savage other than the roto start one way bearing. Me and a friend both have problems with it. It just quit gripping and just spins. And ideas on what i could do with it. Also im looking into a bigger motor, and im not sure what to go with. I love doing wheelies. Right now the only thing ive done is a 3 speed tranny. And it loves to do wheelies but i want more from it. Any info will help me out.

RE: Wow, alot of kids own tmaxx's/revos don't they
Well after reading all of this i have a few things to say. 1. It took me a trip to Iraq to get my first "Expensive" r/c 2. Terrible, we understand that you have issues with the way things are done on here. Sorry 3. Does it really matter how someone gets into a hobby, no I don’t think so. If mom and dad buys them, or they work at a sweat shop to get the money for it, who cares. You should be happy that people still want to continue with the hobby. Just think the money that mom and dad sends to company "x" to buy Timmy his nice new truck is helping keep them in business, and paying for R&D to make better products. 4. If you really want to say some thing about peoples typing, take a look at your own post and use the spell check. Look at what you type before you post. That is all, Thank You

I was looking at getting the MT2 RTR but i called HPI and they told me not to get it to get the Firestorm. I was shocked when they talked bad aobut their own product, so i think i may go with the firestorm. If the company that makes it tells you not to buy it, you shouldnt buy it.

Well i got it out today and gave it a good run and the only thing that i had problems with was the tires staying on the wheels. I had to glue them on 2 time because it kept breaking the glue bond. But other than that this thing is awsome.
