RE: i need help deciding between a cx2 and a cp
Hi. New to this forum and helis but not to RC itself either. I got a chance to play with a friend's Real Flight 4 and the helis in particular. Decided I wanted to get one so I bought the CP Pro. Immediately destroyed the blades and one skid. Things just happened too fast. Probably should have used training gear but the LHS didnt have them in stock. Went back to the LHS and ordered a CX2. He

RE: Using Music in Videos
I am not profiting from my movies and the music I use are tracks that came on a CD that I paid for. Personal use and I paid for the music used. Wouldnt dream of using that same music for anything I did for profit, however.

RE: Do I have a problem?
No experience with that plane but it sounds to me like you either have an LE or TE switched or possibly upside down. Definitely the ribs should be parallel to forward, not at an angle. They say the ribs probably wont match the plans but they should be pretty close. Looking at the pdf file they show the notch end on the LE at the wing tip but the notch end on the TE at the wing root. Possibly you have em both at the tip or the root? That would mis-align em for sure! I would re-check that. First time builder, it is VERY easy to do something like that. Been there, done that, where is the CA Debonder? [:D] Anyway, thats my 2 cents worth.

RE: Vid editing software
Pinnacle is definitely the least expensive. The other two are better programs but cost 5 times or more as much as Pinnacle Studio 9. There is a Studio 10 out BUT you definitely need a fast computer (mine is 1.9 ghz which fits the minimum but worthless) or it wont run properly. I have/had that version. When I installed the latest patch, I could no longer use my CD or DVD drives for ANY other program such as my Roxio programs. ANY attempt resulted in the Blue Screen Of Death. Finally uninstalled ver. 10 and went back to using ver. 9. That being said, I love version 9. All my vids were compiled using Pinnacle Studio starting with ver. 7. I had access to Adobe Premier 6 but it was much too complicated for me as a hobby user. I know I could learn to use it but I wanted to make videos of my flying, not spend all my flying time trying to master the video program. I have the Studio 9 Plus version which gives you some added transitions and effects and opted for the video card with firewire and analog I/O. I recommend Studio 9.

RE: Tower Uproar 40 kit needs and engine!
Not so concerned with it doing knife edges. In a hover tho, it has plenty of control authority fore and aft with the elevator but once it gets a few degrees yaw the rudder just wont recover it. Tail wont wag, it just hammerheads over. Good thing is that since I got it in my head to re-do the rudder I also got the bug to return to building and dug out my mostly built Kaos and got back to work on it also. Finally figured out why I wasnt interested in building lately. I recently moved into a different apt. Got a pretty nice garage to build in but it is separated from the neighbor's garage by corrogated sheet metal. Needless to say any sounds from either garage sounds like its in the same garage. The neighbors teenaged kids (gangbanger types) hang out in their garage every time I go out to do some work on my planes. All I hear is them yakking in spanish, snorting speed, and non stop making the most gawdawful gagging, hawking, snorking, and spitting sounds. Sounds like a hayfever convention over there. I mean this is non-stop for hours. I assume its hours cos I can only take about an hour or so before I bail back upstairs and give it up for the day. Needless to say it very much detracts from any enjoyment of building. I plan to take my camcorder out there next time and record em. Rant over.

RE: Tower Uproar 40 kit needs and engine!
Flies great with the APC 10X3! Wish I had found this prop sooner. Now I find I need to modify the vertical fin and/or rudder. Not sure whether to just increase the rudder size both in height and length and adding a counterbalance (easiest fix) or trim down the fin a bit, keep the rudder the same height adding a counterbalance and length. Guess I need to see what others did with theirs. Definitely need more rudder tho!

RE: uproar and ASP 75 engine
What they said. A .75 on a .40 sized Uproar would be a waste of both engine and plane. I fly mine with an OS .32SX spinning an APC 10X3 and it will go vertical off the ground with about 6 feet of rollout. With the .75 you would have to add so much weight to balance it that you would end up with a lead slead in my opinion. The wings on the .60 sized Uproar are removeable so it should fit in your trunk OK.

RE: Tower Uproar 40 kit needs and engine!
Oh, my Uproar has many flights with the .32SX engine. Will hover at around half throttle. Still playing with diff props for it. I have had good sucess with the APC 10X3 on my Pizza Box powered by a GMS .32 (also a very good screaming engine, by the way). I plan to try the APC10X3 on the Uproar this weekend. Will post results.

RE: Ultra Stick 60 pushrods?
Exactly what Hondaguy said! I had the same plane, mounted the servos just fore of the tail, used a Magnum .91FS for power. Lost mine the same way thru dumb thumbs. Made a pretty impressive crater diving inverted full throttle. I miss that plane. Strapped a wireless video cam on top looking back at one point in its career.

RE: Tower Uproar 40 kit needs and engine!
My choice wasnt in your list: OS .32SX. Light. Screamer. Reliable as all get out. HS225MG servos for all control surfaces. I would increase the rudder size from stock. I plan to do this with mine eventually. Mount the engine sideways. Will keep the plane a LOT cleaner. For some reason RCU wont let me upload my picture. Guess I have to link to it on my site. BUGGER!!! [image]http://fubar1.net/rcimages/UproarOne.jpg[/image]

RE: Tower Uproar 40,1st build.Helping me???
Slam the throttle, it will take off in about 10 feet and head straight up for as long as you dare. It will hover easily at around 2/3 throttle, I forget what prop is on it right now other than its an APC.

RE: Tower Uproar 40,1st build.Helping me???
I have an OS .32SX on mine. Had the engine, bought the kit to fit the engine. I think a GMS .32 would be a good choice also. Another screamer of an engine. I have one of these on a "Pizza Box" flyer which is pretty much just a square sheet of 4mm coroplast with rudder and elevons. The GMS runs about half what the OS .32 cost.

RE: Tower Uproar 40,1st build.Helping me???
I second that. Took a lot of patience and finagling to slide that wing in! When I covered mine, I made a template of the wing end so I could cut it out of the sheet of covering to do it one piece per side. Suggestion: Mount the engine sideways. This will put the exhaust pipe under the plane instead of blowing all over the top. Wish I had done this with mine!

RE: Parkzone F27 CG anyone?
Had to end up adding about an oz and a quarter to the trailing egde of the plane to get it to balance properly. Man, that thing moves! Was pretty conservative on the throws, had em 2nd hole out from the end on the control horns. Low rate (60%) was really too low but doable. 100% was about right for up/down but I will move the rods in more for a faster roll rate. I want a faster roll rate! My dad, once he was able to follow it with the camcorder got some good footage he says but I havent seen it yet. Will put it online once I get my hands on it. VERY happy with the plane!

Hey, why not? Usually you read about somebody converting a glow plane to electric, turn about is fair play! Wonder how the tape will hold up to the exhaust slime tho. Interested to see how it all turns out!

RE: Speedy Bee ARF, Anyone else flying one?
A 48FS might be a bit much for it, of course you can always throttle down. I cant quite hang it on the prop with the Saito 30. Does a pretty impressive knife edge tho. Absolutely not lacking in power! The recommended CG range for the ARF is 4 1/2" to 5". Recommended starting point is 4 3/4" which is where I thought I started at but I was fingertip balancing instead of using my balancing machine which I still havent found since moving so it might have been farther back than that tho still well within the range. It now fingertip balances at about 4 5/8".

RE: Parkzone F27 CG anyone?
Cool. I had noticed those holes inside the finger holes and wondered if that might be the CG point. Looked about right. Looks like I might need to add a bit of lead to the tail. If I slide the rx to the rear of the compartment and ditto the batt, its balancing about at the front of the finger recesses so Im not too far off. I have the pushrods in the next to farthest holes on the control horns and will set up with dual rates. Having seen these things fly brushless I figured I would need to tone down the travel of the elevons. Now that I have the info I needed I hope to be able to maiden it tomorrow. Thanks for the help! Parkzone F27 CG anyone?
They now sell just the airframe so I got one and put an 020 Astroflight brushless, HS81MG servos and a high discharge 2300mAh 3S lipo pack. Unfortunately, the manual that comes with it doesnt give any info I need such as throws and where the CG is supposed to be. Anyone happen to know the CG? Im ready to go other than positioning the rx and batt to balance.
