RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
Happy-Dingo, Yup the weather sure does suck here at the moment it's driving me nuts. We get a couple of nice almost summer days, then back to weeks of winter cold and wind. What a hassle. Do you have a Co-ax heli? - I have a Lama IV and E-Flite Blade CX2 which I've bound to the DX6i and practice on that while I mourn over my latest bent 'real' heli and wait for parts. They (coax) are cool, because I just back the car out of the shed and float the CX around few battey packs, practicing nose in and spot landings, just to calm the nerves of having just spent another $100 bucks on spares. Plus I do as much flying on RealFlight G3.5 as can without getting overly bored with it. My #36 and HK-T500 are not going, I have the parts, but due to my healh, cold weather and being just plain lazy they are out of commision. I guess I could crank up the 'ol #22, but I hate it, it's dead stock and the radio, well I just don't trust it. -B!

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
Dingo, Yeah, we got that dust cloud/storm here in Sydney big time. I've never seen anything like it in my life. every thing was (still is) covered with the stuff, even in the house. I was awake at 4.30am and the sky red like i imagine it would on Mars. As you know it's still blowing like hell everyday, no way of flying - not even planes. Which canopy are refering to? - If you mean the green one, it's just a stock #36 canopy I got bored with and thought I'd practice spray painting on it. I hate the colour too, but it's all I had the time. Going to respray it red (again the only colour I've got on hand). If you mean the 500 Canopy, it's just a $10 job from Hobby King, I like it and going make and print decals for it. I'll post pics of both when done. I like to keep this thread alive alive too, even if the 36 is old news. My is is a REALLY old one, got it pre-brushless motor / Lipo era. I'm not too sure about that gyro on DX, it looks a bit dodgy, coming in lipo packaging doesn't instill any faith in it either! I'm using Assan GA410's on my helis. Not the best but I'm too broke at the moment too get anything better. -B!

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
Dingo, Which radio are using on the #36 at the moment? One thing I would make certain of, is that the tail rotor is not slipping. Try holding it still and turning the main rotor by hand. It might look like it's working fine when you spool up. But under load it might be slipping due to a stripped gear somewhere. I was going to hook up the original (Walkera) radio to see if I can figure out your problem, but I got too lazy. Since I'm more into Heli's at the moment than planes, I pulled an AR6100e out of plane and I'm going to use that for practice on the 'ol #36 (and the Sim and a BCX2) before I maiden my HK-T500. -B!

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
McFlyman, That's cool collection. You could amost have a hobby store with all those canopies. I thank for all the pics Nascar, Like GTX SlotCar says, I'd use any cap from any old motor. (surely you have a few burnt tail out motors?) Some time main brushed motors have 3 caps hanging off them. Here's a pic of the back end my OLD #4 and #22 - (for the hell of it crap picture sorry) Yup no direct drive or belt (yet) thats on the #36 and Trex 450 I'll have to line up all my Heli's and take some pics like you did McFly. B!

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
ORIGINAL: Mcflyman If you want to see a big inprovement in your tail. You should go BeltDrive no more motos to worry about
Just going by the picture of the tail of your #4, you have done a heap of mods. How about a picture of the whole thing? As for converting to belt drive, I don't really think thats way to go on the little old #4, I think the direct drive tail motor is better. (read cheaper!) Belt drive is surely better suited for a larger heli such as a #36 - which already is belt drive, but get what I mean? That said I'd like to know where you got the parts and how you did beltdrive conversion! B!

Wow, Only 5 amps!, I'm surprised they never burnted up swinging the #36's 285mm blade and running 400SD motor. I don't expect it to last long in the 4x4 truck (pic). When I burn it up, I'll buy a cheap Turnigy 30amp for $15

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
Does anyone know how many amp the original stock brushed ESC in the #36 reciever can handle? Since I don't need it anymore, I was thinking about putting it a car or boat (I don't trust even putting it a foamie plane - you know, glitches!) Even so I don't want to over stress it and blow it up too quickly - not that I really care. It's good for nothing else. B! Gizo, nice conversion. I have a friend who has one of those radios. I'll show hom the mod. He was pissed, he bought it just before 2.4ghz revolution.

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
Yeah c'mon, Giz, don't tease us, we want pics now! I'm wondering about you moving the ESC to under the chassis, that's where I put mine to start with. Where did you have it before? And yup 2.4 is wonderful (I have DX6i), because you know if you crash it's 99% your fault, no blaming glitches! B! EDIT: oops, just re-read your post, I get it now, you moved the ESC to where the receiver was, yes?

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
Gizma, Don't worry, we are all reading. I post in heap of forums and often feel like talking to myself as well but you'll find heaps of people are actually reading the posts, but just have nothing to reply with or your post itseft is retorcic. Problem with most Walkera Heli forums is that everyone is slowly waking up and moving over Align to T-Rex's so things end up slowing. I looked that gyro up you got, it's nice looking and sounds like it will work great. http://www.trextuning.com/csm630.php All I've done lately with my #36 is add CF tail blades and sprayed the white paddles Gloss Black - (I agree with you - those Orange ones you've go got look terrible! - spray 'em black or something!) Might do something about the colour of the fins, maybe spray them green/yellow to match the canopy. I'll send a pic next message (when I've put the CF tail blades on and the black paint is dry on the paddles back on.) B!

Hey Odd, I don't recall ever having that problem, and my poor little original #4 has been through HELL. (READ: Crashed heaps, I think I'm up to at least 5 tail rotors, 5 tail motors and 5 main blades! - I could go on...) :) BILL!

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
M, With the HXT servo's getting 5 stars is cool, I don't read the reviews on them anymore, I almost always just order a couple with each order because of the price, and there is always someone at park who might need to borrow/buy a few - plus I'm always needing them for each new plane I build (see pics) or heli I get (ie: the T-Tex clone I'm thinking of getting) Arr, That would be #22, I find that is a bugger of a thing to fly. How do you get along with yours? It's stock standard, it gets away from me all the time. I don't know if it's the wind, Gyro or me, but boy it's hard to fly!! (It seems to suddenly just bank left and wont come back when I 'command' it to!) Perhaps I should try my magic HXT500 servo's in it!! LOL!! - Yeah that's what I'll do! I notice the #22 forum here is very active, perhaps I should start reading it, might get a few clues there! But after the last crash the radio has stopped working. In fact, you've inspired me to try and get going and put my other builds on hold until the parts arrive from HK. B! PIC1: THe F-14 Swing Wing (waiting for a few parts, can't wait to finish that - The Sweep mech was hard to build - hope it works ok) PIC2: THe F-14, Super Bandit 109% size and the #22, YUP got it out to get it going!! - Like I said I would I think might first move for the #22 is to put 3 HXT500's in it (900's are to big I think) - the 500's are faster too, I use one on the rudder for the #36. Boy, I better take a rest on posting and start working on models!!!!!! LOL :)
