RE: What Radio is best??
I ask the same question on another forum and the answers where about the same. I will say that no one makes a marine specific system. Spektrum does make a marine receiver but no marine transmitter. All radios used for boats are classed as surface and we just adapt them for our use. Keep in mind that cost is not always the best way to determine a products worth. An example of this is the Miss Vegas Duece which uses a Tactic radio system. I have never had any problem with this system and it is about as bare bones as they come but it works well for this application. I recently stepped up to a gas hydro and needed a system for this boat so like you I ask the same question. In the end I went with a FlySky radio system. A lot of people are using this radio and most posted good results and a few posted bad. In the end it boils down to what fits your needs best.

RE: ENFORCER OWNERS ~~ This is your thread
Sweet boat!!! What your set up? I bought the Big Block version and it is still 3 weeks or so away. Jeff was very helpful and returned emails quick. I dealt with him direct when I ordered my boat and he was really helpful and provided all sorts of information at the time. I see that you guys are really active in your area and have nice ponds to run on. There is not any other boat runners, well one other guy, in my area and the LHS have nothing in the boat area. I must add that several other builders that I exchanged emails with where equally helpful and willing to help and advise. I just could'nt break away from the Hydro and the wicked runs on the water. I do want a Cat and plan on adding one but that will be a next year project. Looks like I just added a Bass Tracker 175 to the fleet as well so I am boat poor for the year...

RE: ENFORCER OWNERS ~~ This is your thread
While the Demon from Enforcer is a nice boat and comes loaded and ready for the water, the G4 appears to offer the performance factor that I am looking for. I shared several emails with Tony and spoke with Pam about this boat in the RTR version and it comes to your door truly ready for gas and water. Enforcer boats are a really nice product but in the end my decision to go with the Insane G4 was based on their race proven designs in the hydro sector.

Well I gave it alot of thought and talked to several people and when it was said and done I just could not get away from a hydro boat. In the end I opted to purchase an G4 hydro from Insane Boats.

RE: Enforcer Demon Hydro
Your right Ron, it is a love it or hate it hatch design. What really caught my eye is that the hull resembles a "pickle fork" style of river race boat. In my area there is no racing and very little LHS for boats but I own a Vegas Deuce and I am hooked. I am going to go from nitro to gas and would REALLY like to stay with the hydro's, but I am finding the gas hydros to be a very select few group. I have exchanged EMails with Tony and he seems to think that this boat would be perfect for a beginner in the gas hydro boat. Another Demon owner on his site runs one and he loves it. I was told with Tony's M6 engine this boat would hit the 60 mark if propped right. So it just comes down to me making up my mind.

RE: ENFORCER OWNERS ~~ This is your thread
Got a newbie question here. I have been looking at the Enforcer Boats and I really like two, the Split-image cat and the Demon hydro. I have a nitro hydro now so my interest leans heavy towords the hydro but at the sametime I like the style of the cat. Has anyone ran either of these boats and what input can you give me as far as handling and speeds? Not wanting to race just wanting to own one bad ride and make the switch to the gas side.

Experiment...I have ran 50% and 40% and settled on Byrons 40/12. Read this thread towards the middle pages and AMAX and ToyotaTrucking have good insight on the shims and head spacing. You and I are in the same city. Where do you run your boat?

RE: Miss Vegas Deuce Engine Starting and Running
ORIGINAL: Dan S Factory needle setting is; HSN: 4 turns out, LSN: 2 1/2 turns out (both settings are factory settings and they will vary). An O.S. F plug is for a four stroke engine, it is not going to work. an O.S. #8 would work fine on your 15% fuel, however this is bellow what is recommended, get yourself some 30% or order some grimracer fuel. These boats don't run, or tune like our planes. read the miss vegas threads (MVD) if you haven't done so. Dan.
One piece of the puzzle was left out. I used the 1.5 mm allen wrench to set my carbs idle gap. I did this by adjusting the servo arm. your goal is to achieve this gap with the servo remaining at neutral with no trim applied. As for ride - riding on the rear pad of sponson with prop breaking the water line.

RE: Miss Vegas Deuce Engine Starting and Running
I agree with Dan on the LSN. You need to set it back to the factory setting and leave it be. I reset mine and drew a line across the face to mark the home position. At most I may have moved it 5-10 deg one way are the other. This engine can be hard to get a set idle. Tweaking the servo arm and adjusting the carb will get better results than trying to idle off of the LSN. The strut setting in the manual is a starting point. You will get better results if you will raise the strut till you have 3/4" measured from the bottom of the hull to the center of your strut hub.

RE: Miss Vegas Deuce Engine Starting and Running
As for fuel I use : Bryons Gen 2 40%/9% with McCoys 59 and 9 plugs. This combination seems to work for me. I may run a little on the lean side, but I prefer that. I tear my engine down after every session on the water to look for damage and knock on wood havent had any. I have removed my head shims and run with a tight head clearence. One thing that you need to check is if the bottom of your glow plug is flush with the bottom of your head button when it is installed. You will have to remove the head buttom to verify this. With the McCoy plug I use two brass rings to move the plug to flush. I also take my glow plugs and heat them up in my glo-starter before I install them in my engine.

RE: Miss Vegas Deuce Engine Starting and Running
Sounds like you are still on the RICH side and your strut/prop may need to be adjusted further up.To me the TT engine seems to like running on the leaner side and does not like it when you adjust the LPN. I would go back and set the LSN back to factory and LEAVE it there. Also get fuel with higher nitro content, I run 40% and have had no issues. I run with my strut raised all the way up till it bottoms out in the slot. This allows the prop to slightly break the water, unload, and inturn the engine can maintain RPM. This unloading is just as you wrote earlier. I have bought another strut and plan on making the slot longer for more adjustment. Another good tune upgrade is to get the grimracer prop, it does make a difference in how your boat runs.

I am looking for information on set up and running adjustments for the AQ Grimfin. Is it best to align it inline with the side of the sponson or tucked under to follow the undercut angle of the sponson?

Yep, I cannot get in there. I think that I should have clerified my connection problem a little better. If I post to a thread and mark it to email me a notice of activity, I get and error page telling me that the web page cannot be found. This points to a server issue on the forums end. If I just do my post and do not request a notice it may or may not go through and may even get entered twice as with my original post in this thread.

I agree, 600 is WAY to much. I will shoot Glenn an email and get some prices from him. With the MVD hull I doubt I will go over board with the engine up grade by spending to much.

RE: RB marine 10 engine
Found a dealer in NJ who has sold one and it went for $600. Thats steep for what my intentions are. Wanting to do engine swap in my MVD and still kicking around engine ideas. Looking at the Dynamite .21 Mach 2/pull start. Then again, going with the OS .18TZ seems to be the most logical choice. Thats what I like about this hobby, everything is a test and tune nothing is set up and run. Always gotta test and tune. LOL

Its a .21(3.48) engine. I am guessing that the "10" is referring to the year 2010 since it is used in all of the engines names.

RE: Newbie
Yep, that puppy is lean. What percent nitro / type fuel are you running ? I think that I have finally found the tune on my MVD. I turned the High Speed Needle in full and then backed out 2 1/2 turns. This has put me right at the sweet spot and just making very minute movements with needle. Low Speed Needle started flush and turned in 1/4 turn and pinch tested. I run Byrons 40%/9% and added Castor to up the oil %. As amax stated, move your strut up to 3/4" and start there. amax gave me the same advise and it does make a BIG difference. I have gotten my best runs using the grimracer 36 x 55 shapened and balanced prop. You are in the right spot for information. Don't be shy and ask questions. You will get some very informative answers. I am still a noob, but learning everyday.
