RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
ORIGINAL: Bruce Frost After running tonight I know one thing. Pond Scum is Miss Vegas enemy number 1. Man, I couldn't keep a clean prop or rudder.
i know the feeling. we can only find one pond around here to run. and it is 2 small. i top ou @ 28.9mph and have to turn her hard and cut the gas in order to keep from crashing or jumping the bank.

RE: Unofficial Nitro Hammer Thread
ORIGINAL: dicko always go with the engine manual when running an engine in. i know duratrax had the wrong info on how to run n the evader engine when it first came out, there were a lot of engines being sent back under waranty because people were running them in too lean. if the engine always dies with about the same amount of fuel left in the tank it often means a worn piston & liner. once the engine reaches the temp where the piston & liner no longer seal it dies & this often takes roughly the same amount of time & fuel consumption.
could also be a pinhole in the pick up line. these engines are very sensitive to air. run your boat untill she quits. let her cool down and fire her up on land but don't fill the tank. keep it where it is. watch the pickup line and if you see any air coming through it then replace the pickup line. it is not uncommon for these lines in the tanks to get pin holes. pain in the butt i know but alot cheaper to fix than an engine.
ORIGINAL: razirbel
what tank # are you on? we broke ours in with a 2.5 turn setting and just idled around the pond with a few throttle ups. after the engine was broke in she seems to scream around 2.5 to 3 turns.

RE: Charger for AeroHawk by smartech
what batteries do you recommend? i have the stock from the package and one from Ebay that was to be new. i charge them for no more than 4 hours and i can't even get off the ground. when i got it the stock battery lifted me off the ground but still only lasted for maybe one minute if i was lucky. it did get me 6 feet off until a gust of wind set me back down. heheh. whoops. thanks guys. my local hobby shop guys says he can't find a battery for my copter. even though he sells Venom Heli's with the same set up. i think he does not know how to work on anything. always excusses when it comes to smartech stuff.

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
one this type of boat is not to through a tail. if it is it's set up wrong. that is what i have read here. but i set mine up to through a tail and it ran much slower. less tail is better. two the epoxy is also used to seal the crapy fiberglassing done around the wood as well. wet wood rots. so i have not done it yet as i'm waiting for mine to dry out. hehe could not wait to run her. well she will be epoxied this week and back in action saturday as soon as some one can tell me what size screw i need to put back into the strut adjustment as mine is in the bottom of the pond.
ORIGINAL: Bullitt01 Twisted...just so im sure. I pull out the factory plug and toss it as far as i can...leaving that drain open. And drill a few more on the other side?
yeap. that is what i'm doing. going to run a 4 whole set up. mine has extra noodle foam in her any way for the GPS and a watertube insolator to keep the pond water on the way in cool and not heated by the muffler heat in the cab.
ORIGINAL: dirtysouth31 well i have seemed to cure my blowover for now,i havent had one in weeks.i added 1/2 oz of lead in front of the tank in the triangle spot. i have the strut level with the water pick up hole with a negative pitch. qwestion is the water supposed to be a stream or just splurging at full throttle?? when i make a pass slow i can see a steady stream but wide open i noticed it was just spiting out!!
try twistedliquid racings new rudder. this will keep your engine cool and keep constant water even at high speed racing to you engine.
ORIGINAL: TwistedLiquid WoW!!!!!!!! Super job on the paint work...and the "Bad Day At The Lake" I call that a good day....your rudder on the Vegas could be gone...[:D] Is the Vegas good for a newbee...well sure....its like any other boat, you have to learn it....The best thing about a Vegas is....No two are alike...I know the Vegas is gaining speed here in Wichita...But just for the record...our Vegas will stay....its color...Orange/White
Twisted what prop do you recommend on your site??? the 2 blade or the 3? My style is basicly this... i like to get out of the hole fast and into the straights. drag basicly. i just want to know what one to get with the whole package deal. and i'm a new vegas owner and they are AWESOME. just have replacement parts on hand. it's alot cheaper than my EMAXX. never know when that turtle would pop up and take out a prop or a rudder.

RE: Unofficial Nitro Hammer Thread
ORIGINAL: XD_Dan Hello all. Just got my son a Nitro Hammer, and so-far, so-good. The factory needle settings were way off, and it took a while to get her up & running. But I think I have her dialed in pretty good now. Thank you to everyone who has posted suggestions and pictures. The posts have helped out a bunch. We have decided to keep the NH fairly stock for now. My son is 8 yrs old and doesn't need anything much faster than this for now. I will be putting a scoop and 1" hole in the hatch...over the carb, as this makes good sense for longevity of the engine. I am also now in the process of raising the rudder assembly about 0.5". It sure seems to drag in it's current location. I will also install a starter belt as the recoil starter is already giving me grief. I am trying to find a pre-formed scoop for the hatch. I want to find one similar to what you would see on an NHRA Pro Stock car. Can anyone piont me in the right direction? I have been having trouble finding a scoop that looks good. Thanks again for all th tips and hints. I'll try to get some pictures up after we get the scoop installed and the hull repainted.
give me a pic of the style scoop you are looking for. we are making molds for new add on scoops and complete replacement cowls as i type. www.gbscustoms.com

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
got the vegas to a clean pond today. lakes where to choppy and grassy. this pond we ran in is small but NO grass. actually got 28.5mph out of her today. i was impressed for a small pond. uploading our run to streetfire.net and will post later. also got the hammer wipeout at the end. made our own strips for the bottom of the boat. seams to work GREAT. exept when the radio gets wet and she takes off full throttle to the bank. wished we would have gotten that on tape. hehe.
ORIGINAL: TwistedLiquid Phat Job DjFreeze....I see alot of things in the pics you learned here on R/C Universe, like cutting out the intakes and your snokel. Big Thumbs up!!!!!!!!Whats her name???[:D]
actually the snorkel i came up with on my own. the rest i picked up in this forum thread though. i'm working on a forced air throw aluminum fins like an inner cooler for a car that is turbo charged. and for the paint questions.... base brush clear. the only time i do work over clear is when i use a special chrome that you guys will see soon. yeap chrome paint that is 95% effective to chrome. runns about 150 Bucks a half pint though.
