RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
I also sail model boats and have used the Tenergy 2700mAh batteries with great success. I have beat them up pretty bad from heavy usage and they are still going strong. I have used them in my 50/800 sailboat using a 250+ oz/in digital servo and have been able to sail over 6 hours on one 6.8v pack. In my transmitters they will last for almost a month with 3 day a week usage at about 4 - 6 hours of use per day. For the price I purchased a lot of 24 from their eBay store and figured for $20.00 if they were decent I would buy more and I am placing an order this week for more as I have been very impressed with their cost verses mAh ratings compared to others out there. Just my .02 worth. Look at HobbyCity's website. I have been running their 6200kV brushless motors with the 18A esc and have had no issues with it. I am still playing around with the different settings but have not had any cogging issues at all. John B

I was wondering if anyone on here has heard of RS selling the buggies for less than $50.00? I need the steering linkage that mounts to the chassis tub. My daughter broke the piece that connects to the servo. Thanks all, John

I don't usually keep the factory connectors because of the problems they have been known to cause, ie... shorting, melting, falling apart, etc. etc.... If you must use them they are known as MINI Tamiya or MINI Kyosho style plugs. You can get them at this site; http://www.onlybatterypacks.com/main.asp They have them listed on their connector page. RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
Your stuttering problem is probably the crystals or the receiver. I tried swapping out the crystals in mine because I had the same problem. The stuttering improved slightly but was still present so I soldered new capacitors on the motor, no improvement. I swapped out the motor, again no luck. So I then swapped out the receiver with a Futaba AM unit and all stuttering was gone. You can get an inexpensive Futaba AM system on the for sale forums here or at HobbyTalk or RCTech for around $10 to $15 since most guys are going to 2.4gHz radio systems. All the ProPulse connectors will plug right in without any fuss. You may get some support from Megatech and then you may not. Most I have heard have had pretty good luck from their service dept. so it wouldn't hurt to try. Hope this helped. John

Eastern Dirt Modified style body cut out of .020 Lexan for oval racing. It has gobs of down force with this body on it. Had a 6200kv BL mounted in it and it was ballistic. Changed it out for the High Speed Motor and plan on trying it out tomorrow against the other mini's. Right now it has the carbon shaft, aluminum shocks, and upgraded radio.

RE: 1.7 Meter
This boat is an awesome sight to see in person. I sailed my 50/800 against two of them after one of the SuperNationals races last fall and it dwarfs my 50/800. DMYC42 showed up with three of the 1.7's in the back of some Ford sub-compact, so transporting them is not an issue. "It's a very nice sailing boat" and I quote my twelve year old daughter who was lucky enough to get a chance at the controls of one of them.

RE: ESC for Mini-DT+Charger/Batteries
Where does the receiver get power from though? The Receiver draws its power from the battery through the ESC using the built in BEC (battery eliminating circuit) that most of the systems have. In fact I can't think of one that doesn't have a BEC anymore. Not sure on the charger question though, never had one of Losi's chargers. One thing you want to be sure about with a Li-Po charger is that it is capable of balancing the cells as they are being charged. If not you will need to get a external balancer to equalize the cells. The second option will cost more, I use two different Li-Po chargers that cost under $50, They serve double duty charging my flight packs for my planes as well as my car cells. One is from Turnigy Accucell-6 available through Hobbycity and the other is the Supermate 4 from Polks Hobby. Both are DC only chargers and require the use of a DC power supply. Hope this helped......

Man this thing is quick. Working on a EDM body for my PP, I will post pics when it's done. Has anyone noticed how out of balance the mounted tires are or is just the ones I have? Oh I forgot, PIGS are still pretty quick when pissed off.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
I picked up the buggy tonight at a RS in Troy, Michigan in the mall. They still had quite a bit of inventory left and it was offered with the get 4 free accessories deal. After shifting through all this and buying a Losi Desert-T I am really impressed with this thing. If I find anymore inventory I will let you all know.

RE: AC class boats!
Wick Smith is a member of the Detroit Model Yacht Club. I don't have the honor of owning one of his AC's but I do know they are really sharp boats. He produces sail under the Smith Sails name. You should be able to contact him through the DMYC web site, he is listed as the 1.7 Meter fleet captain.

I have some older AJ Fisher sails that are new, The size of the boat would be a huge help and I can see if a set will fit. I also have some vintage masts that may work, let me know. John B

RE: nirvana II tips and tuning guide
I just checked the Ni-Mh 2300's and after an afternoon (2 1/2 hrs.) of sailing my Marblehead I checked the voltage and with no load on them they register 6.67 volts. That is with a "B" rig on her. What would be the best way too check them under load. I am no electronics pro and am quite happy with the performance of these in my boats but now I am just curious. Thanks

RE: nirvana II tips and tuning guide
Hey Guys, FYI on batteries. I have been using for the entire RC sailing season so far All-Battery.coms AA 2300mAh Ni-Mh (Item number: 260282056238) with really good success. The average cell voltage is 1.5 consistently. I took a stab in the dark and ordered them from thier eBay store. Tenergy is the brand name and after making sure the company was legit I ordered a 24 pack from them that have tabs already on the cells. Much easier to put together with the tabs. After almost an entire season of sailing in my Victoria's, Nirvana II, and my Marblehead all I can say is they have exceeded my expectations. I was at least expecting that the Marblehead would tax them being a bigger boat but they showed no bad signs. There has been no cell failures and the voltage has not fallen off. After comparing prices per cell ($1.40 per cell including the shipping) these appear to be the most reasonably priced cells I could find and have been extremely pleased with them. Just my two cents worth.

RE: nirvana II tips and tuning guide
Hello All, I have followed these forums for quite awhile now but it is the first time posting. I finally got the Nirvana II I won on eBay today and I have to say it looks like it should be a hoot to sail. I do have one question though, is it just my boat or does the KEEL on anyone elses boat seem a little loose? It just seems have alot of movement in the port/starboard. Not alot but it would appear that it would eventually get worn to where it may become an issue. Thanks for all the great ideas that have been posted. John B.
