RE: 2010 US Nats... share YOUR story
ORIGINAL: Mike Wiz Interesting but not surprising. IMAC has for many years been known as a game for very large planes. That doesn't work so well in a bad economy... especially if you like to use electric power.
And pattern equipment is affordable to the masses in this economy?...come on. Close to 100 entries is awesome to read! Hopefully there will be a resurgance at the lower levels...so the contests are not as top heavy. cheers and good luck to everyone.

Interesting tone. Did you also receive a 25% GP Pitts M12s with some wrinkles? Nice use of exclamation points. Very excitable. Have a great day.

RE: Great Planes 25% Pitts M-12s 3D
Wrinkles in the covering is something we deal with on all ARFs. It is painfull to read about them....but they happen. Until climate controlled sea-going containers are the norm.....it will happen. George

RE: Classic Pattern Event in Chicago...2010?
Hello Rusty. Last night we finished up our "Team Entry". I think JD's neighbors were stoked when we fired it up around 10:30 pm! I think I will be flying the Advanced schedule. I hope others will too. I will ask Mr. Danhakl which class he wants to fly. Our plan is to roll in that Friday afternoon. cheers, George

RE: Steve Helms Aurora's powerplant??
I flew novice at the BIRDS Open @ Mile Square Park in either 1986 or 1987. Steve had the YS SS Auroras...with the MK vpp. Chip was also flying an Aurora...but with an Asano prop I believe...and the mongo sized Futaba single stick! I sat on my transmitter box and watched all of their flights from behind the judges. Even as a middle school punk....I can remember thinking that Steve's airplanes arguably looked better on the inside than out.....the finish was amazing. Someone mentioned that earlier in the htread...and that is no joke! Don't get me wrong....the finish on the exterior was perfect. I never did get my hands on an Aurora. I did fly a Cosmos for a few contests....until a "bird strike" in Chula Vista claimed it. What a great time for pattern! On a side note....now multi time Pylon Champ and all around super fast dude...Rich Verano (YS) bested the Masters field with a brand new EZ Supra Fly that weekend.

What do I have?
So I have been looking for something to fly at Rusty's contest in May...and my father found an Ed Keck built model from a friend of ours in Rochester NY. I am told it is very well built and finished....but I do not recognize it. Any ideas>? Either way...it is getting an OS 61 and pipe...and some Futaba FAAST gear....and the plan is to head north to Chicago. cheers, George

RE: Great Planes 25% Pitts M-12s 3D
Hello guys. RE: Spinner- The scale shaped spinner for this airplane is rather large. Initially we went ahead and used a spinner that was made just like the other Performance Series offerings...but it was far too heavy. We needed a lighter weight spinner...so we went ahead and designed a proper CNC machined bar stock spinner painted to match the airplane. The spinner would have raised the kit price up to much in our opinion....so like the majority of airplanes sold in this category....we did not include a spinner with this kit. They will be available soon. thanks, George

I am flying the same elevator pushrod setup on my Extra 300sp. Using just the screws and wheel collars. BUT....an easy upgrade is to use the collars as a "place holder"...and then solder it.

RE: GP performance series Extra 300sp Flutter
Hello, I am sorry to read about your experience with the Extra 300sp. I noticed your clevis is connected to the control horn rather far in. We have had one other customer report a similar issue (but did not lose his model). We sent him the PDF which I have posted here. It is hard to say what his results were after he looked over the information, but we have not heard back from him. I have included a pic of his wing and the linkages. I have been flying the same model (very hard) with all stock hardware, and have not had any failures. Every model is stress tested with added ballast during development...and we do not have any record of a flutter issue. With that said....there are many variables in our hobby...and sometimes it is difficult to determine the root of issues like yours. Please feel free to email me directly, and I will look into your situation with our service department on Monday. Again...I am very sorry to hear about your model, and I hope sharing some of this information can be helpful to others. RE: Great Planes Extra 300 GP/EP
I am running an OS .81fsa....I have the rudder servo mounted in the tail (in the "inverted" spot"). I believe my CG is slightly aft of the rearward measurement in the manual. I have the airplane in my car...I will snap a pic of my battery mounting over lunch..and post it here. All of the hardware etc. are stock kit provided items.
