RE: Any RV Flyers Here?
I'm (still) building an RV-7 with my dad. We are getting to the end of this project. The building is pretty much done and we are in the fitout stage. We have had power on. Just need to find some more spare time. [:D]

In my Seawind I use a 4 cell NiMh 1650mAH pack. I have run this all day and the most I have put in it was 1100mAh.

RE: GP RV-4: Decision, Decisions..........
I have built one of these. I can highly recommend them. They are a very nice flying model and a straight forward build. I used a TT .46 I also added an in cowl muffler. I did add the flaps and I recomend you do, just for looks if nothing else [:D]
ORIGINAL: Russ Williamson TS3 is all fiberglass, great for FE, TS3 can handle a little rougher water than most and can handle more weight (for LiPos:) than most hulls could ever handle. Thanks, Russ
ORIGINAL: GRANT ED With the TS3 coming out what will happen to the VS1? Why would I choose one over the other? What are they designed for? RE: Does fuel go bad
Yes it can go bad but yes it can be stored for a long time. As stated by Ken, moisture is the enemy. Make sure the lids are secure and the fuel is stored in a environment that is not subjected to big temp changed ( like outside) and you should be fine. I have fuel that is opened and over 4 years old and it still runs the same as day 1.

RE: can boats go in salty water?
I also sail full size. I sail a cherub. Back to the question. Sailing a model yacht on salt water is no problem. Just make sure you wash everything and lube the rudder and keel shafts. I have a seawind that I sail on salt with no dramas. Nitro however is different. I have used nitro boats on salt and while it is possible there is soooo much more work involved that IMO it is not worth it. I now only run my power boats on fresh water. My first nitro boat was a hammer that I used on salt water. After every days running I would have to basically strip the boat down to clean and lube everything. Leaving the boat until the next day to do this would result in the carb locking up and usually the motor too. One time I forgot to pull the prop shaft out and 3 days later it was locked solid and required the inner and outer shaft to be replaced. Its not just the motor either. Any exposed metal will rust like crazy after running in salt. With my boats after running in fresh I spray the harware with WD-40 or something similar, put some afterrun oil in the motor and they are good to go. Don't get me wrong, running on salt water is possible but don't underestimate how important cleaning and lubing everything after is. IMO it's not worth it.

RE: Seawind carbon hull
In short.... No. It won't make your boat faster and it's not legal for one design seawind racing.

RE: How to start ?
Firstly some simple questions will better allow a boat recommendation. Whats your budget? Do you want to build or almost ready to float? Are you going to race? Is there a size limitation? Answering these will make it much easier to give you good advice.

RE: Assassins Creed II
ORIGINAL: DarkFire989 I would not reccomend the first one. It might be fun at first, its EXTREMELY Repetative and gets old real quick.
I felt exactly the same way about the first game. I really got sick of traveling to a new city only to have to climb another 12 towers to get the stupid ^$^%$ map. A few friends of mine have AC2 and so far the reports are good. I'm tempted to get this game but I think I'll wait untill people are further into the game to see if it ends up like the first.

RE: GP ultimate Bi-plane, finally finished.
I have one of these with TT.60 2 stroke for power. I love it. I have the CG set behind the manual limits so it has neutral stability. It does the most insane negative snaps I have seen. My build is standard but be careful with the rudder linkage. I had rudder flutter on my first few flights till I changed the linkage to a ball joint. Apart from that I give mine a real thrashing and it comes back for more.

RE: How is Grid for PS3?
I borrowed grid off a friend of mine. I really liked it. It has a bit of an arcade feel but I kinda like that on a game I'm using a pad to steer with. The only thing I didn't like was the drifting (the drifting in NFS shift is 10x worse though) but I did get used to it. The crashes are great and I can recommend this game.

RE: fellow sailors??
I sail. Have done since I was 6 (I'm 30 now). I have sailed lots of different boats but the one I usually sail is called a cherub. It's a high performance 2 person 12 foot skiff style boat. I also sail various keel boats.

RE: The future of glow?
At my club there are very few electrics. I feel that at the moment they are too expensive and the battery technology is not good enough to warrent changing to electric power. Once people can buy a .60 sized plane with equivalent power and batteries that can be charged faster than they are discharged for the same money or less than glo then we'll see a big shift. Untill then, I'll stay with my noise makers thanks.

RE: Hammer nitro surface recomendation
I have a hammer myself. I have done a few mods but it's not surface drive. I did add an OS .18 engine though. I would guess its speed at around the high 20's. I felt this was pushing the hull. I also have an SV27 which is pushing mid 30's. At this speed its on the limit so I'm 'interested' to see a 50mph hammer.

RE: What would this have to be running to get to these speeds?
Electrics get very, very expensive as the speed and size goes up. 120+ mph is a very quick boat and there would only be a handful of models capable of that speed. In fact 50 mph is a pretty fast EP, especially for a new boater. If you give people an idea of what your after then you will get better advice. EG Budget? Race or fun? Hull type I,E cat, mono etc What water are you going to run (rough or smooth) I guess the most important question is budget. The rest will work around that.

RE: kyosho sailboats?
I would not say it was flimsy. The standard hatch leaks quite badly and almost everyone replaces it. I just use stickyback material. In the years I have had mine I have not had to do any repair work and I have sailing in winds that were well above the limits of the boat. As for replacement hulls. Tower used to sell them but they do not sell Kyosho anymore. I would expect to be able to find one if you looked hard enough.

RE: kyosho sailboats?
I have a seawind. It is a complete kit (less radio gear). Mine was bought in 2004 and it is still going strong. Out of the two the seawind is larger but more expensive. I am really happy with it and can recommend it. If you want to know anything else then just ask.
