Stinson Tri-motor
I have a 80" wingspan Stinson tri-motor I am converting to electric. I plan to use 3 .25 glow equivalent brushless electric motors, 3 50 amp speed controls and 1 6s LiPo battery pack. What is the best way to connect the 3 speed controls to the reciever? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

RE: Kadet Senior
I have built 5 over the last 20+ years. The first one was flown with a Saito .45 four stroke. All of them were set up as taildraggers, all had 1/2 the dihedral taken out and barn door ailerons cut into the wing after it was framed up. They were all covered with transparent covering. They were all excellent fliers and enjoyed by all types of pilots. The largest engine used was a Saito .50 four stroke. You can't go wrong with the Kadet Sr. Several methods were used for the steerable tailwheel and the one that worked best was a pull/pull setup with fishing line run to and connected to the rudder servo. I have been building models for almost 50 years and the Kadet Sr. is one of my favorites. Amatuer Modeler: Remember- amatuers built the Ark and professionals built the Titanic!

RE: Zenoah G-23 Prop Hub
ORIGINAL: Woody218-RCU Unscrew the spark plug and thread a couple feet of cotton rope down into the cylinder. Make sure you run enough down into the cylinder to prevent the engine from turning over when it comes up on TDC. This will faciltate the unscrewing of the prop hub, and will also work when you screw the new one back on. When done, pull the rope back out, screw the plug back in, and go fly!
Thank you very much! It can't get much simpler than that. As always, you can count on your fellow modelers to help out when needed. What a great hobby!

Zenoah G-23 Prop Hub
I need advice on how to change the prop hub on a Zenoah G-23 gasoline engine. I have the new hub and stud bolt along with a new prop nut and washer. I know the old one should unscrew from the crankshaft, but am not sure how to block the piston from turning. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

RE: thinking of steam
Hello, gang! I am about to embark down the steam trail myself. I just bought a new in box twin cylinder Saito steam engine and boiler along with kit for a steam tug boat. I probably won't build the tug, but will buy a Krick kit for a steam launch. I have never built or even owned a r/c boat. I have been flying model planes for 50 plus years, so this boat business is all new to me. Anyone have any experience with the Saito steam engines?

Electric Twin
I have a Cermark Islander ARF twin designed for electric power. I do not have the construction manual and have no idea of motor size to use. The plane has a 72-1/2" wingspan. I do not fly electric, but I want to use this plane as a start. I want to use brushed motors. Can anyone tell me size of motors and size of speed control I would need? Thanks.

RE: Stinson Tri-Motor
Thank you very much, John! The photos have fire me up. I will be busy getting mine finished. Where did you find the metal material for the gear and engine nacelles? I have not been able to locate suitable material, so I was going to use wire and fair out with balsa. Another question, What size fuel tanks did you use in the engine nacelles? I think I may be able to squeeze in a 4 oz. Larkin

John, the name on the plans is Leon Tefft. The plans are not very detailed. I have the tail feathers, fuse, and wing framed up. I am working on a mold for the cowls. I am saving the hardest part, the engine nacelles, for last. If I get a chance to take a few photos, I will post them on this thread. Larkin

RE: Stinson Tri-Motor
Dick, I do not have it ready to fly. I am about 3/4 through the build process. I do beleive it will be over powered, but I can always throttle back. I have yet to be sold on electric, and I do not want 3 screaming 2 cycles, so I chose the little four strokes.

I am in the process of scratch building a 80" wingspan Stinson Tri-Motor Airliner. I will be using 3 O.S. 26 four stroke engines. I need a little help on the throttle configuration. Can I use a wye connector from receiver and connect to one engine from one side of wye and then connect another wye connector on other side of wye to control the other two engines?

Scale Fabric Question
I am building a 1/3 scale Fairchild 24. The horizontal stab and vertical stab are sheeted to replicate the full scale which was covered in plywood. On the full scale the plywood was covered with fabric. My question is: Did the full scale planes use tape along the leading and trailing edges as you do on the fabric covered open framework on the rudder and elevator? Larkin M. RE: C-119 Flying Boxcar ARF
Well, I threw my Boxcar kit on Ebay. I am going to build a Stinson Tri-motor instead. I have plans for one with an 80" wingspan so I will use my O.S. 26 four strokes. Should be more than enough power and should sound really neat. So,if any of you are looking for a Boxcar kit, check out Ebay. It is a no reserve auction, so it may go fairly cheap.

RE: C-119 Flying Boxcar ARF
I just purchased the C-119 Boxcar ARF kit. I planned to use 2 O.S. 26 four strokes. After seeing the plane and realizing how light it is, I believe the 2 26's will be way too much power. If anyone is interested, I will sell the kit for $125.00 shipped in continental USA. The kit is new in box.

I Need Help
I have been flying RC since 1975. I fly giant scale with gasoline engines. I have recently built an Old Timer Dallaire Sportster with a 108" wingspan. I was going to install a Saito .91 four stroke, but have decided to jump off into electrics. What motor would be best for this type of plane. The originals were free flight and used a 60 size glow engine. I have never owned an electric, so I don't know anything about motors, batteries, etc.
