RE: Traxxas Summit
I don't know how the hell my friend knew such a LiPo exist. But I'm looking at some LVC stuff on ebay. Will dropping A Mamba Monster system in the Summit have increased run times?

RE: Traxxas Summit
ORIGINAL: LaTuFu Definitely post a link to the batteries you are talking about. RC LiPo batteries do not normally have internal LVC circuits. The circuitry is either in the ESC, or you use an external low voltage alarm. How old are these batteries? Did you store them for any length of time with little or no charge on them? Are you using your charger in NiMh mode or are you trying to charge it using a LiPo cycle?
I don't really know what batteries they are, a friend of mine told me about those unique LiPos with LVC built in them. As for my stock batteries, they are 5 months old now. I usually charge them, when I'm not using them, but sometimes forgets, due to my stupid memory [:@], maybe that's why they are about to give out? I'm using in NiMh mode, and most definitely not in LiPo mode or bye bye to those 7 cells. Do NiMh last long, that is what I want to know...[&:]

RE: Traxxas Summit
Thanks, I'm planning to go LiPo, but if the batteries already have a built in LiPo cut off or low voltage detection like those LiPos from HobbyKing, am I good to go with the stock ESC with no mods whatsoever? I'm using this: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__11060__HobbyKing_ECO6_50W_5A_Balancer_Charger_w_accessories.html It charges the stock batteries for about 45-60mins or so. I was using the Duratrax Twin Pulse charger at first, but I find it never gave it that much juice or fully charge them that well, so I switch to this and it was much better, charging them at the right amount of A's, but after for a few charges on the stock batteries, run times are slowly being short. Are the batteries about to give out?

RE: Traxxas Summit
Hey, sorry to interrupt, but I just would like to ask some quick questions. I've been running my Summit that I bought not too long ago, and it seems that everytime I charge the stock batteries that comes with it for at least 45-60mins, I only get at least 5-8mins of run time. Is there anyway or batteries available that can increase the run times or should I go brushless? And can the stock 16.8v ESC handle LiPos?

Nice, really like the XL and D8T gasser. Gas engines are more efficient and easier to use. Will these gas engines makes awesome revving sounds like the engines from the Bajas?

Thanks guys. Probably the oil in the oring is maybe causing the problem. Yeah, I know this is a very unusual problem that anyone could ever have with their nitro engine. The K5.9 runs great, just that I never experience a problem like this before, when I ran many nitro vehicles in the past.

RE: Common problem?
Not sure, if it's the o-ring, but it's still there. Yeah, before the LSN fallen out, it was kind of hard to turn for minor adjusting. But I think your right about the vibrations. It may be the problem. When I accelerate the truck at high speeds, it tends to sway a little bit, I think it's the tires that was probably not glue probably at the factory. Also, I lean the engine a bit, which the engine does seems to make some vibrations. I lean the engine a bit, because I find that it easily shuts off, when it's riched. When I try to run it a little rich, which is most likely to happen is shut off, but it shouldn't happen to most engines, richening it a bit right? You still be able to run the truck a little rich.

Common problem?
Do anyone have some problems with the carburetor on the K5.9? I had my Savage XL for a while now, it's been an awesome truck, but it's been a third time that the engine loss one of it's low speed needle. I'm not sure how the low speed needle came loose or fallen out, but I keep an eye on these needles, when running the truck anytime. I don't see the fact these needles needs adjustments like the high speed needle, just minor adjustments are necessary. I sent the engine to HPI and I think they put a new low speed needle in it or something, but sooner within 3 months, it had fallen out on it's own. I sent it back to HPI second time and they replace the whole carburetor for me which helped a lot, since the low speed needle never had any problems. I was running the truck for two years with the newly replaced carburetor, no problems, until yesterday when I was running the truck, it shuts off, which the low speed needle was gone again. I kept an eye on this low speed needle and the whole carburetor and I don't know what happen. Do anyone have this kind of problem? What should I do now?

Ofna Titan Twin and engine break in
I just receive my new Ofna Titan Twin this week. They are pretty rare and hard to find, but won it off ebay.[:D] Just curious, how do you break in the two engines in the truck? One at a time? Or two at a time?[X(]

Yeah, LRP engines I was thinking of as well. Saw a video of a Titan Twin with dual LRPs and it seems to have good enough power. I just needs a little more big block power then those stock .26s maybe.[:D]

RE: Ofna Titan Twin and engine break in
Yeah I agree with you guys too. I was hoping these dual .26s would not be a problem too, just needs some work to be done for them to run properly. Thanks for the tips Argess. Those glowplugs I will definitely go check out, if I'm planning to keep running those engines. I knows about these engines will overheat a little probably once it is adjusted a little lean, but a bigger cooling head will work well, as you said. The funny thing is, the the owner of the truck who kept it really new and never ran at all took off the stock glowplugs it came with and put them in little bags, when I got the truck. Also, these trucks already comes with roto starts build in them, so I'm good.[:)] Is it these cold airs: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCB29&P=7 ? I was planning to replaced those engines too, like what Steed said, I kind of wanted more big block power[:D]. Maybe the HPI K5.9 .36s? Have a Savage XL and loves the power those engines packs, but engine was a pain to tune it right and it always shuts off, once something is not running right or the engine was being fuzzy or something. Has to replace those whole carburetor, because of this. Will dual Associated 8.0s or Cen 7.7s fit in it?[:D] I was looking at the O.S. .30 VGs. What do you think of them? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNZW1&P=0 What about these Piccos and Force .28s here? Will the stock roto start systems on the .26s fit in these? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMCA4&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXMU6&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRYV3&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTUL9&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMCA6&P=7

Oh, well then. Yeah, I can see where the pain of tuning one more engine comes in, but I enjoy nitro a lot and the idea of two engines sounded cool too. But I also have two gassers and a lot of electrics, especially brushless lying around too. I would quick nitro for that idea, if it was possible, it will be overkill! Just pressing the throttle trigger just a tiny bit, it will be at a speed of light. [:)]

Thanks a lot Dale for the tips. They will help a lot, when I go break in the truck. Yeah, I also thought about that too, running the truck in the break in process with one engine only breaking in could really put a strain on it. But your second method seems to be a very good idea too. Hey Dale, just curious, but I remember you owned several twin's before, and even saw pictures of them here. You still run them?

I recently purchased this plane: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7029&Product_Name=Sabre_F-86_Mig_Killer_1420mm_EPS_Foam_kit I installed the following Motor and ESC for it: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6678 (the XL motor I used for this plane) http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=3727 As I fly it, no more than couple minutes the plane started to lose power. I look at the motor, ESC, and 6S 4000 mAH Lipo that I used was hot. What happened? If these aren't really the right motor/ESC combo for it, then what motor and ESC is perfect or should I use for it?

RE: LB Getting Ready for SNOW - Kyosho EP Blizzard DF-300 Thread!
Engine rich? Probably just need to lean it just a tiny bit, if it's still pretty slow in second speed. The tranny on the GP version is like that sometimes. It's weird a bit, the QRC tranny makes these grinding gears sound, when hitting reverse and forward. It's hard to explain. I'm not quite sure what does it. The tranny needs to getting some use to and will eventually smooth out after many runs. When everything is smooth, it will perform much better and will get faster speeds. But lately, sometimes mine have trouble shifting into reverse now, I think it needs some adjusting. I'm not quite sure what is it.

Yeah, the second gear needs adjusting on the 5th or 6th tank. Had done that with mine and was very easy to adjust. The two speed is just amazing. It's awesome seeing a tank like vehicle shifting in speeds. It's really fun with the second gear and it's pretty quick.

RE: Super Clod Buster Build-up Thread
It's been a while here now, like 2 months? Anyways, I got some things to fix on my Clodzilla IV that's been down and never run much for a while now. I've been running those stock Tamiya 540's really hard on 14.4v the last time I ran it and the motors couldn't really take that much of that raw battery power. The green or yellow wire will become loose, once the motors overheats, but I can molt it back together again. Maybe I should use heatsinks? But they hits the chassis of the truck, when the suspension is in action. The problem is, I don't think these motors are really the best for 14.4v. Do anyone have any ideas or thoughts on which 540 motors to use that can take 14.4v? I have 550 motors lying around, but they are too big and they touches the suspension links, if you try to installed them in the truck, so needs a 540 type that is suitable for 14.4v use.

Thanks guys. Yeah, now I think about it, I think the direct drive is the way to go. I'm thinking that you don't really need the 3 speed for it really and could possibly explode like you said. Besides, the direct drive is much more better for handling the serious power of the brushless power.

RE: Savage XL to brushless
Yeah, that's the only place where I noticed the only conversion kits available for all nitro savages. But there are two design for brushless set-ups there. There is this one: http://204.186.93.64/SavageBrushlessConversion.htm And this one: http://204.186.93.64/Savage-DirectDrive.htm Which one is better? The Savage Brushless Conversion kit or the Savage-Direct Drive conversion. Both are designed to convert any nitro savage like the XL to brushless. But I would like to use the Savage Brushless Conversion kit, since I can still use the 3 speed tranny. With the Savage-Direct Drive conversion kit, you will no longer be able to use the 3 speed tranny anymore. I like the sound of 3 speed shifting in electric powered style.
