RE: My new FoamyFactory YAK 54
whstlngdeath That will be a fine setup on 3S lipos. The stock 350 will not lastvery long on the lipo power though. Once you build and fly the plane a few times on the GWS350 brush motor, you will probably see that the brushless will be the ticket to more fun. You will be on the low end of OK power but in the range needed for 3D. Brushless ups the anty and ups the fun 10 fold. GW

RE: ZNLine Supreme
The new Astro lithium charger is a top performer and its price is around $110. It is capable of high amps (10 i think) which will be needed for the 9s packs. No need for a $400 charger. Hirate is coming to market with some packs that are about 25% less price than the TP packs. Competition is heating up in the Lipo market, that will be good news for the modelers. Hirate is in the process of bringing into the US a 5000 mah cell capable of 10c continuous . That would allow a 8s1p pack to fly the AMA masters. with less weight to boot. Good stuff coming in the next year.

RE: ZNLine Supreme
Actually 30 weeks as I stated is conservative. Its actually only about 12 weeks of weather its unpleasent to fly in. Meaning less than 40 degrees. Close to 40 good weeks of flying here in Bama. Right now its 58 degree on Novemeber 8. Heating up as the coming week rolls in. Not to good for us in the propane business though. :( I agree with you Doug, anything over the 1st year will be icing on the cake, but i bet using 2 packs (1 then the other on the next flight) you will get over a year on the packs. Thats of course acknowledging there is no impact trama with mother Earth.

RE: ZNLine Supreme
2 days flying = 12 flights per week 30 weeks average = 360 flights 360 flights @ 20 oz a flight. 7200 ozs of fuel = 57 gallons 57 gallons @ $20 Gallon $1140 Fuel cost for the DZ Batteries for unlimited flying $1300 Ability to not have to put up with Glow fuel planes anymore. Priceless!!! Doug, WHen you say "Power will remain equal for long past a flight duration". You mean power will remain at the same level through one pattern flight and then begin to drop off, or the power will remain equal through the average 22 minutes of the battery life. Meaning you could get in 2 full flights (2 takeoffs, 2 patterns, 2 landings) on one charged pack and have the same power through both flights start to finish????? If thats the case , the EPower revolution will arrive faster than I would have ever thought. Thanks for all the good info. Keep us posted with the building of the plane.

RE: ZNLine Supreme
Doug, A few questions since you are the person in the know . What will be the available flight times on a set of batteries? Flying a full FAI sequence like you will be doing? 2 full FAI flights? 3 ? power staying equal through the flights? Will the weights of the powerplant and fuelcell make the weight limits of 11lbs?? WHats the price of these batteries? Anything on the battery horizon that may be beneficial to the RC world? Lipos are the current tech that is making this possible, maybe something is coming around the corner in battery tech that will make even more of an impact? Thanks

RE: HELP! Hoobico MKII ok for Lithium Poly's?
Dick, My opinion, which is a novice opinion at best. I think for our use, its a small difference that will not be noticed. I have not teasted any yet, but I would bet after the first minute of flight the extra .3 to .4 volts would be gone. Kind of like the top charge on Nicads I would think. I get 5.4 volts on my 1700 mah nicads on my receiver in the IC pattern plane at full charge . After a short flight the receiver battery is down at 5.1 or less. Then it levels out for extended flights after that. Bottom line, I would think I would be needing the extra boost (maybe pylon racing or something) before I could justify the exta 2-300 for the superchargers. for my 3 etec 1200's the $50 MK2 looks like quite a bargain. But I am just flying the flat foam models.

RE: HELP! Hoobico MKII ok for Lithium Poly's?
A bit conservative it looks like, but better safe than sorry. Liability would be terrible if they fully peaked them out, especially knowing the inherent safety issues of LiPolys. Thats about 96.8 % of full pack capacity. I would say thats a bargain charger with great results. Thanks Dick!! GW

RE: HELP! Hoobico MKII ok for Lithium Poly's?
That would be good info. Thanks. I guess I may purchase a MK2 to see if it will get an ETEC 3s1p pack to 12.6. If it gets the 2 cell packs of yours up to 8.4. I think that would be a full 100 % charge. I think most of the chargers in the multi use charger line, have a low cutoff for Lipolys. The Triton I have heard cuts off at 12.1 (3cell) and around 8 for the 2 cells. I dont have one, so I cannot verify that. Keep us posted Dick. Later

RE: HELP! Hoobico MKII ok for Lithium Poly's?
Dick, are you getting a full 12.6 volts into the cells from this charger when it completes its charge cycle? The Triton we were playing around with often stopped the cycle at 90% capacity. Most times at 12.1 volts or less. Be interesting to see if the Hobbico got the full 12.6 into the cells. If its does, thats quite the bargain charger, and multi use as well. GW.

RE: Any Experience with the HiMaxx HA2025?
Great stuff there Shawn. Thanks. and please keep us posted. I agree with the 16A being a bit much for the Etec 1200 3s1p 's . But that amp rating may be much lower in actual use with the 3DX airframe, being that full throttle would be so seldom used. ronin8451, Sounds like a great combo as well for the 3DX and 30"UB, wewill be eagerly awaiting your reports. Do you have a gram scale you can weigh the HiMaxx HA-2015-5400 in the GWS Gearbox? That would be a good comparison to the Razor 350 /GWS 350 combo weights.

RE: Any Experience with the HiMaxx HA2025?
Shawn, whats you battery you are using with the 4200 KV motor.? Mounted in a GWS 300? is this the same bolt pattern for the GWS 350? What prop, battery, ratio gearbox, rpm are you using on what plane? Several folks are looking for replacememt motors to use in the Foamyfactory design 3DX and Ultimate Bipe 30" . Razors were(are) the motor of choice but the scarcity of the Razors is leading everyone to look for alternatives. Needing a brushless motor that will mount in a GWS 350 gearbox with a 6.6-1 ratio. Swing a GWS 12x6 slofly prop. With thrust in the neighborhood of 24 ozs on an ETEC 1200 3s1p pack. and weight around 1.5 - 2ozs with gearbox. Anyone know of any HIMAXX or alternative that willmeet these needs?
