RE: New 30cc Extra 300
I think flystraight needs to go to the Buy & Sell section and pick up something that someone else has already done all the work on. Puting these planes together, is one of the most enjoyable parts of the hobby for me, Usually during the winter when it's too cold to fly. In the end, what truly makes a plane unique and personal to the pilot is the limitless combinations of engines, servos, batteries, radios...Etc,Etc, and that sense of pride that comes with knowing that you built it yourself. I purchased my First AW plane a couple of years ago, 1.20 Yak 54.. This plane is a dream to fly. Since That purchase I haven't even looked at any other brand. I got the 50cc Extra 300, and will now be getting this 30cc Extra 300 as well. I have always believed that you get what you pay for, Aero Works has repeatedly proven this over the years. Flystraight, can buy All the chinese ARF's he want's, but none of them will come any more ready to fly, or have the same workmanship and quality as an Aero Works ARF Keep up the Awsome work Guys !!

Grasstrimmer Sorry !, I miss-read, I thought you were talking about the .90 - 1.20 size YAK. My Bad... But the 91 should fly it just fine... The cowl however I'm not sure. George

RE: AeroWorks Yak .60-.90
Grasstrimmer I don't know about how much power an O.S. 91 would have, because mine has an O.S. 120 AX. Are you talking about a .91 Four stroke or the two stroke FX ? The 120 AX is a perfect match up here in Alberta where I'm at about 2000 ft. The O.S. 91 FX is about the same size as the 120 AX so it would fit perfectly in the cowl. The 91 FX would probably be a little under powered though especially if you want to fly 3-D. George

RE: Help me select...Aeroworks Ultimate 50cc, Yak 54 50cc, or Extra 300 50cc
Asif I too struggled with the same decision as you, I had all but decided to get the Ultimate when Aeroworks released information on the soon to be released Extra 300. I already have the 90 – 1.20 size Yak 54 and I have never seen or built a plane of this quality before. The Quick Build Kits almost fall together out of the box. Although it was a very tough choice I finally place an order for the Extra 300 through Hiflight in Edmonton. Some of the deciding factors for me were: The Extra is canister capable, has for me an easier field set up, and has no visible cowling screws. The Extra also appears to have more room in the radio compartment (but that is just a guess on my part). If you are still torn as to which plane to get, go down to Hiflight and talk to the Doug or Les, both are very knowledgeable and would be glad to help you make an informed decision. Unlike most Hobby Shops, Hiflight has the full line of Aeroworks models displayed in a way that you can actually see what the plane looks like and get a good Idea as to the size and quality. No, I don’t work for Hiflight! I’m just very Impressed with their customer service. You have already made the right choice in going with Aeroworks; you really can’t go wrong with any model you finally decide on. George

RE: FS One by Hangar 9
Let me correct myself, I didn’t mean that every aircraft on G4 flies exactly the same, for example the flat outs do not fly the same as the Yak 54 or the gliders, but I do not notice any negligible difference between like Aircraft, for example the Yak, extra, and Cap 232. My friend who has never even flown an R/C airplane took off flew around and landed the Cap 232. The bulldog, spacewalker and sportster all fly like trainers. I have a Great Planes Spacewalker and although it is a gentle floating airframe it is nowhere near as easy to fly as the G4 version. The G4 spacewalker reminds me more of Kadet Sr. By the way I spent 3 hours last night practicing with G4. At one point I made a high speed low pass with the Bulldog, I pulled up hard and hit the tail on the ground, breaking off the left side horizontal stab. I tuned around, landed took of again and flew around for another 10 minutes and the missing horizontal stab made no noticeable difference in the flight characteristics, even during loops and rolls. I also had a hard landing with the Extra and broke off the right main gear. I just gave it some gas fed in some left aileron and I was back in the air in about 5 feet. Don’t get me wrong I’ve only been flying for 7 years and I’m not a 3-D pilot, but I have been an aircraft technician for 18 years. I do know a LITTLE about Aerodynamics and theory of flight… I do have fun with G-4 and I do think it is a fine simulator (it does a lot of things that FS One can’t). I just personally find that FS One is a much more realistic simulator. Most hard landings on FS One break off the prop forcing you to reset. Just so you don’t think I only fly one type of aircraft, I have owned or have flown a GP Spacewalker, GP Reactor, GP, Giant U-Can-Do, GP P-51, GP Patriot, GP Gee-Bee, Sig Rascal 40, H-9 Twists 40 + 60, H-9 Ultra-stick 40, H-9 1.20 Size Cap 232, and an Aeroworks 1.20 size Yak 54. These and the many trainers from the H-9 Alpha, Goldberg Eagle, and Sig Kadet to Goldberg Tiger 60 and H-9 Advance ALL fly completely different. If you look closely you will see that I have been a long time fan and supporter of Great Planes products, this does not mean that I can not be objective about the products I purchase. I'm not about to appologise to people for my oppinion just because they don't like to here negative comments about the product they puchased. I'ts only my opinion NOT a personal Attack.. George

RE: FS One by Hangar 9
I am currently running FS ONE on two computers, a 2.5 GHz desktop with 1 Gig of RAM and a NVIDIA 7300 GT video card, and a 2.1 GHz Laptop with 3 Gig of RAM and a NVIDIA 8400 GT video card. The Desktop is running Windows XP while the Laptop is running Vista. Both computers run FS ONE flawlessly. I also recently purchased G4 because I am going overseas soon and I would like to keep my skills from deteriorating wile I’m unable to fly real planes, and I thought the variety would be nice. I must admit I was intrigued by the float & night flying on G4. Unfortunately the lack of realism on G4 is a real disappointment. I flew the G4 for 2 days and I haven’t touched it since. FS ONE in my opinion is a far superior product. G4 has lots of gimmicks and a lot of planes, but I find that I only fly a few planes anyways, and although G4 has some cool Ideas, they should spend more time making their simulator more realistic. The Yak 54 flies the same as the spacewalker, and the P-51. I’m sure FS ONE could pump out just as many planes if they used the same flight characteristics and aerodynamics for each plane. FS ONE has the right idea “QUALITY NOT QUANTITY! Keep up the good work FS ONE. George

What did You get for Christmas?
I havn't seen any posts yet so I was just wondering what everybody got for Christmas this year? My loving wife, AKA Santa, left an Aeroworks Yak 54 1.20 & either a SAITO 125 or an O.S. 120 AX under the X-mas tree for me. The Yak was under the tree, but since I havn't decided on the engine yet, Santa left a raincheck for that. Cheers! George

RE: How Much Longer For FSOne Hanger pack?
Thanks Brian, Thats all I was really looking for. Someone from FSOne to step forward and say Something, even if its just, "development is taking longer than anticipated & we are running behind, but but things are still progressing". Judging from your promt response Brian, I can now start getting excited again... and will once again begin eagerly awaiting future enhancements to what I already feel is the best flight Sim on the market today. Please keep us in the loop, even if it's just to say "Hey we're still alive !" Thanks !! George

RE: How Much Longer For FSOne Hanger pack?
Don't get me wrong. I have been a very loyal supporter of FSOne ever since my wife gave it to me for X-mas last year, even amid the G-3 groupies I have always stated that FSOne is an awsome sim. I'm just starting to feel like all those people, back in the 90's that were told that lazer disk players were the thing of the future, only to find nobody supporting it a couple of years later. Im just starting to get a very bad vibe about FSOne, wich is a shame because I think personally that FSOne blows the doors off G-3 when it comes to realistic R/C flight simulation. George

RE: How Much Longer For FSOne Hanger pack?
I understand all to well, having a friend that owns a video game store, that a lot of software gets delayed due to glitches during beta testing and final production. Having said that though, all video game developers keep intrest in their games by constantly releasing screen shots & video clips of what they do have. Ie: Just look up Halo 3 on the internet and see what you get. I guess my point is, that by saying nothing people will just loose intrest after a while, but if they keep everyone informed, even if they do change some things prior to the final release, then they will build peoples anticipation. But so far all they have done is shown a picture of a ahowtime, and a little caption saying 10 more aircraft. Does that mean 5 planes & 5 Helis?, or 9 planes 1 helis? Im just getting to the point where I don't care anymore. Maybe Im the only one, But thats just my two cent's worth. George

How Much Longer For FSOne Hanger pack?
I'm really trying to be patient, but for months now I have been seeing adds in R/C magazines saying that the FSOne hanger pack 1 would be out in early summer. It is now fall and there has been no further word as to when it will be released. Even the FSOne web site has absolutely no info on the Hanger pack other to say coming soon. No info is given on wich aircraft will be in the Hanger pack, or weather there will even be any more flying fields or games Etc. I have never seen such secrecy over a product that is supposedly coming out soon. This makes me think that either Horizon's add was supposed to read available early summer 2008, or the add was mearly put out to apeize all the FSOne customers whom have been complaining that they want more aircraft for their sim. I'm starting to get the impression that the folks at FSOne are nowhere near close to releasing the first hanger pack for FSOne. If thats the case they should pull thier adds and quit teasing everyone. If they are close to releasing the hanger pack, a little more info would go a long way to keeping their customers happy. As my father always said " it's time to crap, or get off the pot !" But then these are just the opinions of ONE frustrated customer. George

Correction I am now in the middle of uninstall #5. I loaded FS One, Updated the patch to V 1.0.7 and restarted my computer. everything worked as advertised. I then downloaded the F-22 restarted the computer, and once again everything was working great, and the F-22 shoed up in my A/C inventory. at this point I download the P-51, let the computer do the upgrade, then restart my computer again. select FS One, thewn freestyle, but as soon as I select aircraft, FS One shuts down and Im left staring at the cutest picture of my 5 year old son that I use as my desk top theme..... ????????? RE: New F22 and P51 for FSOne for Free!
I have tried downloading the F22, & P-51 just as the website instructions say, but then after my computer updates with the latest patch and downloads, I go to select aircaft and the program kicks off and I find myself looking at my desktop. I don't even get to see if the P-51 or F-22 are in the aircraft menu. I get the picture of the Alpha trainer, and as soon as I select aircraft I get punted. Whats with that ? I have uninstalled FS One three times now and re-installed it, but as soon as I download the new plaines, the sim takes a dump. What am I doing wrong ? George

RE: OMG LOOK AT THAT....
If you go to Tower and look in the coming soon section under Just Announced they actually have a video link that shows the Revolver flying. They also show a lot of the highlights of the plane. For example it comes with an aluminum spiner, Detailed pilot figure, plug in wings, airfoiled tail feathers, and by the looks of it the servos for the tail are mounted in the centre fuselage rather than on the aft fuselage. One of the cool things I noticed was a photo of the engine mount. They have made a wooden box mount like you would find on a large gasser, then they had the reciever battery strapped to the top of the box just behind the engine under the pre drilled Cowel. This plane looks incredible, and acording to the video, it flys like it looks. I think GP has another winner on its hands. P.S. Anyone who thinks H-9 Makes better ARFs should build GP Reactor 46-3D. Ive built both and the new GP ARFs are amazing I actually prefer them to H-9 now !! George

RE: which simulator for me?
Dave I have had FS One since December, and I have used G3 in the past. I cant speak about G3.5 but I prefer FS One because I personaly find it to be more realistic in the way the planes fly. The H-9 Ultrastick and Twist in FS One fly exactly like my own planes, where I found that my Great Planes Sacewalker flys great but is nowhere near as easy to fly in real life as the G3 Spacewalker. One of the comments made by another person on an FS One forum stated that he can hover all day long on G3.5 but not with his own planes. He got FS One and says that he has as much trouble hovering on it as he does in real life. I really like FS One and the gaphics are realy quite good if you have a desent computer. But thats just my opinion George

I had a friend that owns a video game store and they always get release dates for new video games, and it's not uncommon for the games to miss their release dates by up to a year due to programing difficulties, or glitches found during beta testing. I would much rather they release the FS One hanger pack when it's ready vs rushing to get it out and having an infirior product that is full of bugs and glitches. I am eagerly awaiting this first expansion but I think we would all rather have a quality product that makes us feel like it was worth the wait. George

I just noticed that the date on the front of the magazine is August 2007. I dont know when the magazine was actualy released, but Im pretty sure any adds that were going in to it had to be submitted a while ago. It's quite possible that FS ONE was fully intending on an early summer release for the hanger pack at the time this add was submitted, but as is the case with almost all computer software, it wasn't ready in time.
