RE: Weatronics....considering a change .is it worth the investment?
I switched a couple of years ago and ended up selling the system. It was virtually impossible to get a new receiver when I had a new project. Even if you could get one the wait time could be months. Many excuses; new ownership, the company is moving to a new bullding, etc. Finally, I just gave up. It might be a superior system but it is of no value if you cannot buy new receivers when needed. I would recommend you check very carefully with guys that are currently using the system before switching to see if the availability is any better now. I would also recommend reading the thread referred to here because you can see the actual information available in the system. The information is available but you have to understand how to interpret the information before it is of any use to you. At the time the thread was running all of the time most guys were just posting their results so that someone else could interpret them.

RE: BVM F-100
ORIGINAL: jetpilot In all my references it states that some F100 were painted silver with markings and some were bare metal and markings, and of course the camo. A silver painted or flite metal Hun would both be representative of a scale appearance. Scott
Scott, I agree. It is fairly easy to find pictures and written material that indicates the F-100's were both bare metal and silver. Like you say, both are scale options. Looking at old black and white pictures can be very deceptive sometimes and determining whether a plane was painted or bare metal in not always easy. I think it is a matter of personal preference which you choose because neither one is wrong. The Aviation Design F-100 I built was painted to represent a silver lacquer finish and looked very nice as well. Since I have already had one of those I am choosing flite metal on the new one...

RE: Which turbine?
ORIGINAL: fast_bro I am looking for someone who has real trust numbers not factory specs i have seen the rhino run. The other two i haven't. I have seen many other turbines of those two of course but not them. All three are good motors i fell like i just know some motors put out more than posted while others put out less. I do agree amt makes great have an old 450 that is great but heave.
If you are putting a 180 size motor in this C-Arf plane I doubt you need to be worried about 1-2 lbs of thrust difference between motors since it is calling for a 160. It should be well over powered no matter which turbine you choose.

RE: BVM F-100
Jack, I have considered doing a camo F-100 and yours is awesome. I was concerned about the visibility of the camo but the flite metal f-100's are not really that easy to see in the air either. Mine is still in primer but has orange on the rudder, wing tanks, and nose and it is still just a silhouette in the air.

BVM F-100
I was able to acquire a new bvm f-100 this year that was built but in primer and after putting the first couple of flights on the plane I have started the finishing process. So far I have the cockpit done and the hot section so I thought I would share some pictures of the hot section I just completed. I wanted to get the cockpit and hot section done because each adds a little weight and I want to get a final C.G. setting for route 66 jets next week. The plane was a little nose heavy on the first flight and it would tuck the wing in a hard turn. Needless to say I was not ready for that but this is apparently because it is nose heavy and once corrected will not tuck the wing any longer. The plane will eventually be finished with Flite Metal and the color scheme I will most likely use is the candy stripe picture below, in either yellow or orange.

RE: BVM F-100
Greg, I remember you telling me that now. I will stick with the orange!! That was really my first choice anyway... I will see you at Rt66 in a few days. I am still working on moving batteries to compensate for the cockpit i now have installed. Probably have a full day of work this weekend before I leave for Rt66. Is your F-100 ready?

RE: BVM F-100
Your welcome David. It is always nice to share with guys that have similar interests in the scale jets. Do you have any pictures of the Mig 21 tail cone? Rainer, this is done with the same material Greg used on his F-100. I flew with Greg just a few weeks ago and as a matter of fact he has helped me a great deal while I have been setting up my F-100, and he stood with me at the flight line while I did the first flight on mine. He gave me very good instruction while flying and setting up for landing on the F-100. I can't thank him enough for all of the help he provided to me. I had a lot of help from Dan Avilla and Phil Nuza as well and Phil did the maiden flight at Kentucky Jets (thanks Phil). If anyone ever needs help on a BVM F-100 there a lot of experienced F-100 pilots out there that seem very willing to do everything they can to make sure you are successful. BTW, I am very sorry to hear about your F-100. I have seen your pictures posted many times and you are an excellent builder for sure...

RE: BVM F-100
David, I modeled this relatively close to what I found on full scale pictures, so yes I do have some pictures of extremely burned hot sections. The burning tapers off at the front on the hot section typically as you go forward away from the tail cone. I might redo the forward most two panels to reduce the effect a little but the rear of the hot section is very close. Actually it is less blued than some of the pictures I have but I will post some of the pictures I used this evening.

RE: Jet Tronic Low Loss single action valve
Eddie, the new style Jetronic "low loss" valve is a very proportional valve. I have been using them for several years now and they are in all of my jets. This valve will only use 1-2 psi of air per brake application because it does not pulse air out the exhaust like the old style single action valve. Just follow the instructions on setup and installation and they work great.

RE: New Gear System Failsafe.....
I need two more right now and a couple more later. I would agree also that the electric gear is nice but I think because of the price on the high end stuff that the air systems will be around for quite some time, or at least until manufacturers decide to stop selling the air systems and force the change.
