Hi I am trying to find any images of a Korda Towliner. The only one I can find on the web is the very low res image on the bhplans site. I think I'm up for buying the plans and maybe short kit but would love to see what it is going to look like first! Regards Gordon

RE: minimum safe altitude for static line drop...
frankg11 The minimum height I use for low level drops with my 2 1/2 lb skydiver is about 100'. The maximum recorded that I've yet managed was 1700' which was pretty difficult and was at (or maybe slightly beyond[:D] )my limit! Both were free fall rather than dope-rope jumps. Hope it helps a bit? Regards Gordon

RE: Todays fun
Bob My jump plane is a nice slow flyer so I don't bother deliberately slowing down, though I do reduce the throttle back to 50% just prior to Dude doing his thing. I'm in the process of building new camera mounts and testing footage for two videos at the moment. The shots I posted were from the first of these. To increase the likelyhood of dude being in frame the jump plane pilot was asked to fly slightly one wing low (towards the side the camera was mounted) for the run in and drop and the camera was angled back from the vertical by about 5 - 10deg.( lucky guess!) RE: Todays fun
Hi Video clips in various versions available at; http://www.sebrfc.org.uk/gordon/ At real time its a bit on the quick side as it was a 'drop & pop' exercise for the camera. The slowed down version I think is better? I managed to get some more usuable footage today so I'm happy. (4 more jumps) all on vid. Regards Gordon

Todays fun
Hi Guys Today for a bit of fun I mounted my Nikon 3700 dig cam in video mode on the side of my jump plane angled slightly back to see Li'l Dude as he jumped. Attached are a couple of stills from the video. I am hoping to steadily gather enough video clips to put another 2 or 3 minute video together. Li'l Dude is an IHL Junior and has recently been put on the sort of diet I would love to increase his weight by 30% [:D] He now weighs a portly 15ozs. I was pleased with todays efforts so am encouraged to do a lot more! Regards Gordon

RE: jumpers and planes
A couple of images of Li'l Dude (IHL Junior) awaiting the next mission under my jump plane. Li'l Dude has been a reliable performer to date, his only draw back is that the wind has to be light to get the best from him. Link shows his 3rd Jump. http://www.sebrfc.org.uk/Video/007.wmv Jump plane is a Pheonix Rainbow, powered by an Axi 2820/10 with 12 x 6 prop on 3 LiPo 3200 pack. Each charge gives easy three climbs to 900' plus a few minutes of loiter time or circuits. Excellent model for jump plane as has impeccable low speed handling even at high take-off weights. Best Regards Gordon

Safety switch ideas wanted?
Hi Guys I'm planning to attend a R/C Skydiving on mainland Europe and spotted that they impose a rule on safety devices to prevent inadvertant opening of the pack during the climb. What I need is a couple of ideas on how to accomplish either method. The rules below were cribbed from the Dutch website "1. You make a safety switch, for instance 2 micro switches who turn the jumper off when it is mounted under the aircraft through use of a safety pin. When the doll is dropped, the switches will be turned and the jumper will be turned on. 2. A safety line attached to the back pack of the jumper. This is an extra safety so the chute can not be opened when the jumper is mounted under the aircraft. When the jumper is dropped, the pin will be pulled from the pack and the pack can opened on command". I must admit I'm not too wild on the concept of not getting Big Dude powered up till after the drop starts.....but anyway .....when in Rome and all that! Regards Gordon

RE: Skydiver with Static Line?
spinbotz Controlling your own drop seems a smart idea to me. One of my (not so) regular drop plane pilots is a bit random (to put it nicely).....but there again it gives me plenty of exercise. Mind you one of the other guys is also to be watched as he has been known to drop me from very low altitude over the middle of the field , just to see if I was paying attention. Luckily I was, time under open canopy was not more than 2 seconds! All fun though. Regards Gordon

RE: Skydiver with Static Line?
Hi Spinbotz Opening should be very quick. My two take about 1 second for deployment, from once the pin comes out. What I have suffered from is delayed pin pull due to the servo struggling with the load. This sometimes occured after a long free-fall. In the end I went from a 4 cell 700 Rx pack to a 5 cell 1200 Rx pack and upgraded the right hand (pin pulling) servo from a 3kg to a 5kg rating. The other technique I use is to hold the stick over (and trim if I am worried) and wait. DO NOT re-centre the stick and try again.... My first D/D was after 80 jumps, none since the mods were made.....yet Best Regards Gordon
