RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
ORIGINAL: macmuz Heres my update regarding my 12-22 and my Duralite battery test. The 12-22 in the model continues to fail the battery test with the servos connected. With no servos conected it does not fail the battery test but Battery 2 continues to be nearly 0.2v or greater in its voltage drop then Battery 1 and very close to going over the maximum 1volt value set in Giga control. This seems to be the case even if I changed/swap the batteries over so i'm 100% confident it's not the batteries, but something in the Batt 2 circuitry in the reciever. Also for those not familiar with the Duralite batteries, you can put an external 1amp load on them and both batteries perform the same. On comparison with the 12-22 GyIII reciever, this does not fail at all. The voltage drops of both Batt 1 & 2 are virtually identical, within 0.02v of each other. This reciever has a average voltage drop of 0.61v on both Batt 1 & 2 with no servos connected displayed in Giga control. The 12-22 thats playing up has average voltage drop of 0.58 on batt 1 and 0.80 on batt 2 in Giga control. This average is the same even if I swap the battery plugs around. I think it's time to contact Jens at WEA and see if he has any explanation to this. Do you think that if I replace the Duralites with Lipos that I might be masking a problem here. The Lipo drop average is 0.13v on Batt 1 and 0.23v on Batt2. This way I can set the voltage drop in Giga down to 0.4v and have no annoying red light! Mario.
Mario, There is probably nothing wrong with your batts. and most likely nothing wrong with your RX. Way way back near the beginning of this thread (couple of years ago) I went through the same exact "issue" you are experiencing. The "problem" is; the Wea. was not intended to be used with Li-Ion batts. I have not been around for awhile, so I have not kept up on the latest revisions and versions, but it would have been nice, and would be nice if the Wea. incorporated a battery selection that would allow Li-Ion use. After discovery of the "issue" and I finally knew what was happening, I used my Li-Ions without issue and would just manually check my batteries with the load checker to ensure proper battery operation.

RE: Ultra flash or Bandit
ORIGINAL: jonkoppisch A friend has both the classic flash and bandit. He said the biggest thing he noticed was that the bandit landed slower and easier than the flash.
This WAS my experience as well, but have not flown the UF, so I'm not sure the same comparison can be made without flying it. I'm sure you can't go wrong with either and will come down to personal preference.

RE: Question to Jet Event Contest Directors
ORIGINAL: rhklenke This is an interesting question and has quite a few sides. I agree with Eric in that bringing your electric Tucano to a jet event would put the CD in a tight spot and he would either have to tell you no, or have some jet guy(s) get mad at him for letting you fly. Its an either/or proposition and I can guarantee you that if you flew your electric Tucano at a jet meet, either you or the CD would hear about it - its the nature of the crowd. At the same time, there was a turbo-prop CARF Marchetti that was flown at the Hamburg event and it did not fit into the traffic pattern at all. I flown jets with Boli's Tucano many times, and its not an issue - because his Tucano is fast and he flys it in the pattern like a jet. The Marchetti was *very* slow and was flown like a prop plane. My son was up with it with his Euro and I had to call him to make maneuvers specifically to avoid the Marchetti on several occasions. Also at Hamburg there was a turbine glider that was flown at the same time as jets and it didn't fit into the pattern either. Again, I spotted for someone in our group who was flying a jet with the glider (I forgot who) and he had to avoid the glider on several occasions as well. I'm not saying that they shouldn't have been flown at the event nor am I complaining about them being allowed to fly there (Hamburg was great fun - although in case you were wondering, it was HOT [:D] ), I'm just pointing out that those two aircraft didn't really ''fit in.'' As a CD, I would allow turboprops to be flown, but I think I might talk to the pilots of those aircraft about fitting into the pattern. Turbine-powered gliders I might ask to fly at a specific time, or at least by themselves, and I don't think I'd allow the electric Tucano to fly. At least you can defend the turboprops and gliders as requiring a waiver, but an electric prop plane is not a jet and doesn't require a waiver so it would be hard to explain to the other pilots there why you let it fly... BTW, as a CD, I would also restrict the flying of EDF foamies and other small EDFs that can not keep up with the turbines to certain times - as most CD's already do. Bob
A lot of wisdom there ^^^

RE: Replacement for JR 4131 Servo
Not JRs, but you could look at Futaba analogs S3305 or S9405 if you are set on using analog (preferred). They have very similar specs and are similar size. You also have Hitec analogs HS-645MG and HS-965MG.
