RE: antenna and body?
The tubes on the mini's break easier, because the roof is so close to the base. The tubes on rock crawlers count as part of the crawler for penalties in competition, so it's best to get rid of them. It looks nicer, easier storage, etc... I'm using 2.4ghz. I never tried with my FM stuff.

RE: Go Fly a Kite
Even if you got it in the air before handing it off to the rc, doesn't a kite need a bit of input from the ground to keep it pointing the way you want it? With the rc, you might struggle just to keep it from nosing over and falling to the ground. You better be good at multitasking. Human beings make flying kites look easy.[&:]

RE: youtube?
You need a "Google account", but you don't need another email address. I have a Google account using my single Yahoo email address. Mine was already setup so that I could use Google Maps, Google Calendar, etc... All I had to do now was link my YouTube account to it. It's actually kind of neat the way they have it setup. Google bought YouTube in 2006. Users with accounts after 2009 had to have a Google account. Now they are making it a requirment for older accounts. YouTube explains all of this. Security and organization were the main reasons for the change.

RE: RCX in California?
I think it's geared more for people not yet into the hobby. It's ok, you get a small taste of everything. It would be worth the trip if you stopped by a few tracks and hobby shops while you're here/there. The Cactus Classic race is the same weekend in Arizona, so most of the Pros will probably be out of town, but... Round 6 of the TeamLosiRacing Winter Series is on Sunday at OC/RC Raceway (indoor 1/10 electric) Round 3 of the Grass Roots Racing Series is on Saturday at Hemet RC Raceway (1/8 nitro) 2 weeks later - ROAR 1/8 Nationals warm-up race at Thunder Alley. This track is on the way to Hemet, and worth seeing in person. Also nearby RCX: Pegasus Hobbies - Largest hobby shop I've ever seen. I challenge you to find a part they don't have. (1/10 electric) Revelation Raceway - One of the largest 1/8 tracks in SoCal Milestone MX Park (1/8 and 1/5) West Coast RC (1/10) The list goes on...

RE: You guys ever do a pay it forward thread?
I've been gifted things here and there, without asking. One of the biggest things, when I first started, a guy at the track gave me a lightly used pair of rear 1/10 buggy tires with about 60% tread left on them. It was a huge help as my current tires weren't right for the track. I'm not hurting for money, but I do have a budget. Most of my stuff that's nice enough to sell, helps fund the new stuff I buy. I've paid it forward every once in a while with smaller items, rarely online though. I've never seen a thread like this on RCU.

RE: mind boggling trick
A train leaves Station A and travels a distance of 111 miles to station B. At any point along the way, stop the train. Add the distance you already traveled to the distance you still have to travel. The answer will always equal 111 miles. Mind-boggling?

West Coast Storm
It's all fun and games until the water gets close to your doorstep. I never thought this place would get so close to being flooded. Luckily the worst is over for us, and most houses are fine. I've never been so entertained while just standing in the rain watching cars try to get through. At one point, a tow truck got stuck while trying to rescue someone else.

RE: Are mini Ts done?
Yep, if you ever buy a Mini-T, plan on keeping it.[;)] They are all based of the Mini-T. The parts that aren't off of the Mini-T, I don't care for. Extended wheelbase, unnecessary roll cages and bumpers, themed tires and bodies... most if not all of them adding weight. It's good that newer cars come with bearings, turnbuckles, etc... but I would rather just upgrade the stock Mini-T. I have a baja body for my Mini-T for when I'm bashing, but I still call it a Mini-T.[8|]

RE: Mini T Diffs? HELP
That is what it says; I wont argue there, but Losi is vague with their descriptions anymore. On one site I read the description, and the last sentence "...idler gear included." It sounds to me like it's not metal, but plastic. Also, it looks just like the plastic gears I've been using. [image]http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo/LOS/450/LOSB1066-450.jpg?rand=607570866[/image] At the very least, I wanted to say something for AaronLongg. He might want to wait until one of us confirms the news, as he only needs the idler gear. The transmission should be pretty strong with the plastic idler. If you are breaking the idler gear, you should really loosen your slipper. Just like mrbonez, I'll be getting this for the spider gears, not the idler gear. I'm waiting until after the holidays, then I'm getting this. The mail is a mess right now, and us Californians are nearly under water.[:(]

RE: Losi Mini-T Platform - metal diff gears
ORIGINAL: neiloid Any hope for metal gears for the MLST....
Yes. I looked, and the MLST's stock center diff shares a part number with the Mini-T's stock rear diff - LOSB1066 I believe. I'm not familiar with the MLST since I haven't owned one. Since this is for the center diff, wouldn't it be better to use a spool? As I fan of the 1/8 LST, I think that's what I would like to do if I had one. Is the rear input/pinion gear able to take the stress?

RE: Speed TV.... IFMAR Worlds Coverage
That would be nice. It seems to me that everything that makes it to TV is usually dumbed down, cut up, and vague; plus commercials. It would be better if someone came out with a DVD shortly after. I would buy that. I can't get enough either; anticipating a video of the entire 60min final, and hopefully all the lower mains too. It's going to be interesting to see side-by-side racing on this track. There are very few spots for racing. It seems the layout was purposefully designed that way.

Proper LMF storage?
If the dates on my pictures are correct, I've had my single bottle of LMF for 4 years. It has always been stored indoors in a dry place at room temperature, although it does get pretty warm here during Summer. As you can see from the pictures, it has expired? Just curious if there's anything I can do to prevent this from happening again? Should I store it in a refrigerator? Does this eventually happen anyways?

RE: Losi Mini-T Platform - metal diff gears
There must be a differnece in our tracks (22'x35' dirt offroad). I've tried the MIP diff several times, but never could get faster lap times overall. If I added to the servo throw to force it to turn more, and tightened the diff to get more power to the wheels, it would just seem jumpy and hard to predict. I tried mostly everything in between, but no luck. Off-power steering with the geared diff just can't be matched. It's smooth and predictable once your setup for it. I like the Mini-T's stock wheelbase. What the heck?[:D]

RE: Losi Mini-T Platform - metal diff gears
wow, you just joined today?
ORIGINAL: crunchNmunch The original Mini-T was intended/designed to be run off a 4-cell AA pack, pretty slow, so we were our own worse enemy in tearing up the equipment. But there always was the MIP diff option to those that wanted something better than the old stock plastic diff.
The MIP diff doesn't give the Mini-T as good of a turning radius. If you loosen it to get it to turn sharper, it will slip when you get on the throttle. You have to settle for somewhere in the middle, but can't have the best of both. At that point, you might as well use the stock gears. I only use my MIP diff for dirt oval racing, where it's pretty much required. I prefer the stock gears because you get maximum use of the diff, but of course, the plastic gears are fairly weak. With a slipper, this is a decent setup to use with most high powered brushless systems. I don't think Losi meant for their mini's to be anything more than toys. They probably would have never bothered with this, but they now need them to run in their new truck. They really should redesign a new truck, but they keep reusing Mini-T's... As a fan of the Mini-T though, I'm happy with the occasional new parts.

Losi Mini-T Platform - metal diff gears
I happened to be on the Losi site this last weekend. While I was there, I saw their new mini short course truck. The front and rear ends both look to be mostly based off the Mini-T. One of the features grabbed my attention. http://www.losi.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0208 "All-Metal Gear Transmission The Mini SCT is ready to take on grueling off-road courses. Thanks to all-metal gear transmission, handling the included brushless power system is a breeze." [image]http://www.losi.com/Content/ProductStatic/LOSB0208/trans.jpg[/image] I'm hoping Losi did a good job with this part. This SCT is larger and 59% heavier than the original Mini-T. If the gear can hold together for a reasonable amount of time, then it should be gold in the Mini-T. It's about time![:D]

RE: Is this a good trade? i need quick replys
ORIGINAL: revo_sbs Messed up that last one. The weight has a minor affect on the heat and run time. With Li-po run time isn't even a question.
Weight has a significant effect on heat and run time. Light weight + smaller motor + 2wd = fast and efficient Heavy + larger motor + 4wd = slow and non-efficient This is just a silly TV show, but it does a good job of making the same point in the 1/1 world. Skip to the end for time trials. Now when you add LiPo batteries to both RC setups, you're still going to get similar results. Of course 4wd is going to gain the advantage once the 2wd is pushed to the limit. I'll go ahead and just say that they both have pros and cons, but it's not as black and white as I sometimes hear. The Mini-T is a heck of a lot more fun to drive in any scenario. How about that?[;)]
