RE: Has anyone bought/built a New Sig 1/4 Cub recently?
New kits are exactly the same as your 20 year old one, all you'd be getting is fresher wood..... I have many Sig kits, new and old..

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing
The ST 2000 is a .120, the 2300 is a 23cc, 2500 is a 1.50, 3000 is a 1.8, 3250 is 1.98. Difference isn't head gap, 2K and 2500 same motor, different bore and cylinder, a 2500 is in a 2K case, a 2500 is identified by a 2.5 stamped on the side of the left mounting ear of the case where the engine bolts to the mount if using a beam mount. Carbs vary by age of engine. A 7D OS carb works good on them as does an OS "F" plug and 10/10 fuel....

RE: TwinStar
I've been meaning to post this for awhile, in fact I have found 6oz tanks that fit in the engine nacelles with no mods, I waited a few months from tower to get them but there the tanks that come with the Viper 500 ARF, tank part # GPMA2552. there always in limited supply, you have to build the plumbing and fit the clunk, then take it back out and slip the tank in the nacelle neck first and then without the engine or mount on put the filler neck and plumbing in the tank thru the firewall, pretty easy actually, bolt the engine in and off you go, I had FP 40's in mine and flew for quite awhile on 6oz's.

Jstanton, Engine is a magnito version, stock muffler, running a Xoar 17x6 prop. Covering is pretty simple, just practice. Fly's like a two winged Cub, slow and easy.

RE: Jupiter pattern planes
These are For Sale, be a local pick up in northwest Phoenix, not sure what there worth, I'd sell them as a pair, I have all the paint too. Servos, YS 120 AC engines, pipes and misc stuff. Sell the whole set, prefer not to split apart, would entertain selling airframes first. Any of you Pattern guys have any interest let me know. Thanks for looking. m

Thanks Will, I did forget to mention one has mechanical retracts and the other is fixed gear if that matters. The YS's are mounted on soft mounts with nose rings.

RE: Giant scale Lanier Stinger
Red Max, that tape recomendation is not to good, older ST 2000 have a sleeve in them from the factory due to they used to use a standard 60 carb on them for years, I still have several motors, the OS 7D carb will fit right into your 3250 and work great, taping is a bad idea as you already suspect. Snoop around EBay and see if you can buy a ST or OS carb.

RE: Giant scale Lanier Stinger
Red Max, I have been flying a 120 stinger for over 18 years on a ST 3000, then swapped it for a ST 2500 and the vertical is the only difference, a Q35 or G38 would fly it fine, I just finished scratch building a 84" Giant Stinger, someone gave a set of cores and plans and now I'm close to covering mine, has G62 hanging out front, the carb you want for your ST3000 is a OS 7D off a 90 or 1.08 FSR O.S. engine, all mine work and start well with this combo, also 10-10 on the fuel if you can find it, cool power is 10-12, works fine swinging a 18x8@ 7400, hope this helps

No ballast weight required on mine, fly's great with a Brison 3.2 52cc turning a 22x8, all digital Futaba's with a servo controlled choke and matchbox on the ailerons, nice Sunday flyer. Built 100% stock, no mods, balances out perfect. m

My .02, built up turtledeck and tank hatch is the way to go, I have a 16 year old Stinger 120, bought the glass for the cowl and canopy and all is still in perfect condition after allot of flying, I'm building my giant stinger now and doing it the same way, the glass is from Stan's Fibertech, lighter than Fglass specialities and fit is almost perfect, great flyers....... m

RE: TOWER HOBBIES SUCKS!!!!
Gentlemen, in case you haven't noticed many people are unemployed and businesses are working on a skeleton crew to cut costs, anyone ever consider Towers shipping and receiving staff is somewhat limited and turn around times are double or triple, I've been a Tower customer since day one, 1971, 38 years, I've spent enough to build there warehouse, I have not a one complaint, always outstanding service now and before computers were in every home...... everyone take a deep breath and relax, Tower is doing like all other companies in these tough times, the best they can. If you guys need something yesterday, support your local hobby shop and pay full tilt. m

RE: *New H9 Frenzy-100 ARF*
Just my 2 cents, I have a Frenzy, built stock, gap sealed the controls, Saito 91 swinging a 15x4W APC @9800, it will do anything you want and more than most can do, the balance came out right at 6", all 9202's and a Spectrum 1100 NiCad pack and standard RX in front of the servo tray, light wing loading is the key element, big motors means ballast which equals high wing loads and equals a worse flying plane than a light one. Models do have VNe's. Most exceed them and blame the manufacturer. Those big control surfaces can only go so fast before the servo can't hold them and without them being staticly or dynamicly balanced and results in bye-bye wing or tail..... It's a great flyer, enjoy. Happy Flying.

I built my T60 ARF to spec, put a OS 60 SF in it, balances out perfect, fly's great, not sure what all you guys are doing to make it tail heavy unless the wood density is bad, mine is light and fly's on rails, good knive edge too.

RE: Stinger 120 ARF weight?
I have a older kit 120 that's been flying for years, the turtle deck, cowl and wheel pants are glass, (Stan's) the tank cover I made out of balsa, all monokoted, 24oz tank, Supertigre 3000, 18x8, 12 pounds 3 ounces RTF, goes vertical on takeoff and accelerates vertical too, if the Arf is lighter it will fly great. Lands as slow as my 1/4 Cub. that's my 2 cents worth.
