Sorry I didn't look at the futaba gyros, i just seen they sold Futaba. I buy probably 95% of my stuff from them but have no experience with open box stuff. I did find this link on the 750 if you're interested. [link=http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/align-gp750-gyro.html]http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/align-gp750-gyro.html[/link]

RE: First Helicopter Thunder Tiger Raptor 50 Titan SE Kit
Just to let you know these are my personal choices for your question. For your engine, I would either go with a OS 55 HZ-H or YS 56. My choice of engines is YS, but the OS is also good. JR radio, 9503. The Align 610 cyclic & 650 rudder servos are very popular. Futaba GY520 is a good little gyro. For flight battery I'd go with a Li-Ion or Li-Po 2000ish mah. I've used Fromeco batteries and regulators with no problems. I know you'll get lots more answers. Good luck and happy flying.

RE: next heli ???
Bigger flies better but costs more money for repairs. I would suggest the 600 just because it has a little more presents in the air, easier to see, should fly a little better. I'm only guessing there but I would think the difference in price between the 2 for parts shouldn't be that much more. My 2c. [;)]

RE: New to site and Helis
Remember what ever heli you get, make sure you can get parts for it. Nothing worse than buying a heli and have to wait weeks for parts(if you can get them). If I need parts I usually order from GrandRC or Heliproz. I can place the order Sunday and have the parts by Wednesday, and be ready to fly again by Saturday. I did a quick search and found [link=http://www.thinkrc.com/kds-parts-kds-450s-parts-c-9_76_77.html]Thinkrc.com,[/link] but i have no experience with them. If you need help setting your stuff up, let me know. To bad you couldn't have come down to Lynden saturday, put lots of flights on my stuff and started learning a few new things.

The GY520 is a good Gyro, I have it on my 500 but I would have paid less for it. I just quickly looked on RunRyder and there was one for $70 and another for $90. But that's just me, I'm cheap. [8|]

Don't you just love how they don't even mention it's a clone and are trying to pass it off to unsuspecting customers as it being a true Trex. Personally, I would not buy, understand that's only my opinion. #1 question should always be, where do I get parts because you'll need them. If....If it's a true trex clone, then as Mad mentioned, you can buy Align parts almost anywhere online for them. If you want a 450 I just seen in the classifieds here on RCU this [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=867823]450[/link]. It's made by Blade and is a well known name and you can buy parts from many places. So, Mad correct me if I'm wrong, if the motor is burst 50A and the esc is burst 60A, would the esc he picked out work? I'm asking this for my own information as well.

RE: Nose hunts to the right?
For hovering, trimming the tail gives me a better behaved machine that errs as much to the left as to the right
Mad is correct. you want it flying as perfect as you can mechanically with out the need for trim. Do you need to retrim at the start of every flight? Now what you could do is after you trim, land and take note of where your control rod is and mark it (piece of tape on the boom, mark the control rod, mark the boom). Reset your trim back to 'O', unhook the ball link and either extend or shorten the link ends so they match up to your mark you made. Make sure your servo arm and control rod are at 90*, and as you already noted the servo should be faster.
So is the fact that there is some rudder input at hover going to mess up other maneuvers?
Lets so you want to fly from one end of the field to the other, you'll always have to be correcting (fighting) the heading to keep it straight. Or if your doing a tick tick, you'll always be fighting to keep it neat. If you do a flip, it'll want to go sideways on you if you don't correct enough with the rudder. The maneuvers are easier to do if your machine is well set up, you can concentrate on the maneuver instead of trying to fight the tail.

RE: Micro Beast
One piece of 3M double sided is all you need. If you look on RunRyder or Helifreaks you see they all say the same thing. It seems the pads that come with it are to soft and allow the fbl controller to move a bit. Even Ron's helipros south tells you not to use the provided tape. [link=http://www.ronlund.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RHPS&Product_Code=BTXA76003&Category_Code=RADGY]http://www.ronlund.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RHPS&Product_Code=BTXA76003&Category_Code=RADGY[/link] There should be no problem mounting the Beast on the front gryo plate. [image]http://images.rcuniverse.com/gallery/photos/23751/lg-233889.jpg[/image] Also put a piece of tape across the plugs, keeps them from coming out.

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
Again, I'll try and answer this the simplest way possible. Post 21:
Instead of the servo quickly centering back, the servo returns to center kind of slow.Is this normal?
Yes Post 23:
A;so is it normal for the servo to kind of slowly return to center when i move the aileron to the left and then let the stick go?
Yes Post 27:
ok so its normal for the servo to return to center at a delayed rate when the stick is moved and released.
Yes Post 29:
with the servo plugged into the fbl unit the servo moves slower on my command and eaven slower on return to center'?? so the fbl has a problem'?
No. Now lets confuse you a bit more, you can make your servos move faster if you change your end points or % value of your servo movement, but leave it at 100% instead of jacking it up to 125 or 150%. Since you have not flown this machine yet, you have no idea how fast the servos are going to be once it's actually flying. Set up your controller as per manual and GO FLY! Then adjust as needed to suit your flying style. Oh btw, have you looked at your rudder movements? In head hold mode your blades don't return to center or are ultra slow also. Have a nice day.

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
I also would think that if you get into trouble that you could kind of release the stick and the heli would re balance itself.
Not at all, when you release the stick and it goes back to center, what happens to the blades.....they go back to neutral. So lets say you roll the heli to it's right side and release the sticks. Your blades return to zero but the heli is still on it's right side because nothing has told it to counter the roll back to the left side and level. The fbl controller does what you tell it to do via stick movement and it's job is to keep it in the last known position that you told it to keep. Go up 100', point the nose straight up and do a tail slide straight down. If you let go of the sticks, it'll keep the tail pointing to the ground even though it's going backwards because that was it's last known input you gave it. However if you wait to long you better have a shovel because you'll be digging the tail out of the dirt.
It sounds like a fbl heli with a good setup could be more stable than a flybar machine.
IMO, this is some what true. I did this last weekend with my 700 to show my friend how stable the fbl is, I went into a hover about 10' of the ground and let go of the sticks. 30 seconds later it was still in the same spot hovering with out me touching the controls. Now if it was windy, the wind would carry it across the field but it would still be level because it's last know position was told to keep it level. My 600 flew really good before I decided to try the fbl. I wanted to see what all the hype was about so I converted it, and for me, it made a great flying heli fly even better. Then I got the 700 this year and it's so stable it makes a poor flyer (me) look good, lol.
if i move the fbl unit then the servo moves with lightning speed
It's suppose to, other wise it would not be able to make the quick adjustments necessary to keep it steady.

RE: RUNNING IN RL 53 & STICKY CARB PROBLEM
could not even place finger for 2 sec after hovering
When you have a brand new engine, you need to break it in. Usually this takes roughly about a gallon. You have new parts that are wearing into each other so the engine will want to run hot, so to combat this we must run the engine richer than normal to take the heat away from the engine. It sounds to me that you are trying to get it set for best performance right off the bat instead of running it rich. Hopefully in your quote above you have not already done damage to the engine. If all you're doing is hovering and landing then you should be able to hold your finger on the back plate as long as you want, if the engine is just being broken in and running rich. It sounds like you have your idle set not to bad but I would richen up the high needle so it will just run and hover. Run a tank or 2 just hovering. Then on your 3rd tank start to make it work a bit, hold it in a hover and do a quick little punch up and slowly bring it back down to a hover, let it rest (cool down), then punch it up again and repeat for the whole tank. On the next 2 tanks you can start leaning it out a little at a time and by about the 6th tank you can start doing forward flight, doing what ever you want and then start tuning the engine for best performance. This is basically what advice I had some one give me once and after a rebuild (ran it hot and burned it up) it has worked quite well, and the engine runs great. I'm sure you may be others opinions on break in and they will probably be all good advice. I can't help you with your carb problems, but it sounds like something is wrong for sure. What kind of fuel are you running? If you're mixing your own, you might not have enough oil content, but I don't know much about castor oil. I use Byron Originals 30% Rotor Rage "Masters Blend" and it seems to work very well in my engines. Hope this has helped a little.
am i supposed to just tap the stick in the corrected direction
If you're taping instead of holding the stick and smoothly moving it around, that might be your problem. Also maybe try putting in 25-30% expo in your controls so it will smooth it out. Some people choose to use thumbs on their stick and others pinch their stick (that sounds dirty), personal choice. I pinch the sticks and find I fly smoother with greater control.

I would definitely get some flight time on the Raptor instead of jumping to the 90. Your crashes will be cheaper and there are Raptor parts all over the place. The 50 was my first heli and it was a great one to learn on. Just remember, when you're crashing the 90 you'll write off over $100 per crash (typically) because that's what the blades are worth, and then you need the rest of the parts.

RE: What Gyro for T-Rex 450XL???
Do you have a servo recommendation?
When choosing servos, for the tail you need something fast, in the .05-.08 range and in the cyclic the typical servo is .10-.14 range. There are many good servos (Savox, Futaba, Align, Hitec, Hyperion, JR). I'm sure there are many more of those micro servos, but those brands should do you well. I have some cheap HK servo's on my 500 and i don't like them. They don't center well and I've noticed one moves a little slower than the other. I hardly ever fly it so I'm not replacing them. BTW, you said you fly giant scale, what kind of servos do you run in them and would you use a HK servo instead?

What kind of batteries are you talking about? AAA or the small 200-300 mah Li-po's? Perhaps a picture of one would help. They do make chargers that you can "gang" up to 6 batteries at a time but those are for the bigger batteries on the bigger heli's I have a little Blade mcpx and it comes with a charger that will charge 1 at a time but it charges the battery in about 10 min or less. Maybe that's the type of charger that would work for you. It's made by Eflight and is a 1s 3.7v lipo charger. Then again, I don't know what type of battery you have. BTW, what's wall wart?
