RE: Visiting Chile - Manecojets 2013 - CACH
By the way, we should have more than 90 pilots in this event. People are coming from places like Brazil, Argentina, USA, Germany, Spain, etc....

RE: Visiting Chile - Manecojets 2013 - CACH
Enrique: Is good to know that you are on your way and that you will be visiting us. We move to our new club a little bit over a year ago and since then, a lot of work has been done. The project was done by an architect that belongs to the club and it was presented to all the club members several times in order that everybody could give their input. Based on this, the project suffered many changes before it got the OK to go ahead. All the different disciplines had a chance to make changes based on their experience and I must say that this was a good idea. Nowadays, nobody can complain that they didn't have a chance to change things or that their area doesn't work for them. In summary, everybody is happy with the results. There's still a lot of work to be done. Our club house is not ready yet and I think it will only be available by the end of the year. The idea is to offer lunch every Saturday and Sunday to the club members in the club house as it use to be done in the old club. We'll have two terraces. One looking at the big runway and other looking at the lagoon. The layout of the club now is finished so the next stage is to start working on the details. For example, in the are were we have the containers (airplanes warehousing) now we are planting some tress in order to make it look nicer. We are also going to be working on the grass around the runways. One of the best features of our club, is the possibility of having containers in order to be able to store your planes. For a lot of us with several planes it would be impossible to have them all at home and it would be a a pain to carry them every weekend to the club. Instead, we have in some cases, joined two containers and transformed them in a big warehouse/shop. And the best thing is that you can always have your planes assembled and ready to fly. Tonight I will post some pictures of how the club is looking for the event. By the way, we decided to move away from our old club not because it was small, but because we were being surrounded by factories and houses so specially flying was becoming very dangerous. I'm enclosing a picture of the old club.

RE: CARF CT-114 Tutor 2.6m Build thread
Today I was finally able to maiden my Tutor. What I can say..... it is a pleasure to fly. No major dialing needed an the plane was flying was flying perfectly with just a few radio clicks. Just need to make a program in the radio in order to mix a little bit of elevator when the plane is with full flaps and landing gear down (airplane tends to point down...). I enjoyed three (3) flights today. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to put a couple more flights. GREAT plane Comp Arf...... an great service from http://www.giantscaleaviation.com/ [image]http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/9950/lafoto1ao.jpg[/image]

RE: CARF CT-114 Tutor 2.6m Build thread
dubd: The T-33 flies great, but I must say that I prefer the Tutor.... maybe because landings are so easy. While the T-33 also flies on rails, landings are a little bit more difficult. It doesn't float as the Tutor and then you have the rocking of the wings because of the narrow landing gear and those big tank tips on the wings. I just wish the Comp Arf Tutor would include some aerodynamic brakes since the plane wants to float forever. You will love this plane and I bet that it will become one of your favorites.

Guys... Thanks for all the feedback. After adding all these comments, I'm really tempted on buying the UL. Just need to make some financial exercises and convince my wife that my trusty Viper in Canadian scheme is no longer airworthy. Being my wife a Canadian... It's is the most difficult part. She was really proud that I have a Canadian scheme in my Viper.

CARF Ultra Lighting
My trusty Skymaster Viper Jet has seen better days. After a small fire during start up (pipe holders failed maybe due to a lot of movement during long trips by car), the Viper was repaired re-painted but it was never the same. The plane is flying as usual but I just doesn't look as good as before. Today I was offered a brand new Ultra Lighting (silver/orange/black) and I must say it looks sharp. I was tempted to buy it right away in order to replace the Viper but I decided I was going to find out some more information about this plane first. I know is a much faster flyer than the Viper, but I've also seen some videos were the plane has been flown at slow speeds. I'm don't fly my planes really fast.... actually, I fly them very scale so that means many times just using half throttle. For sure this plane could help me improve my skills, but I also want to know how it behaves at slow speeds and how slow it can land. I would love also to install electric retracts.... Any feedback would be appreciated.

RE: Skymaster MB339
dubd: The MB-339 is a great plane in all aspects. It is heavier than the T-33 but it still lands better in my opinion. It just floats..... The T-33 needs a little bit of power for the approach. In the air, when you install the wing pylons in the MB-339, the plane has a little tendency to drop the nose while turning. This is not the case with the T-33. The MB-339 can do several acrobatic maneuvers that I would be afraid of doing in the T-33 because of possible control wash. On landing, the MB-339 is very stable and the T-33 tends to rock a little bit the wings once you are in the ground. The details are better in the T-33 since it's a newer plane, but I still think that the MB-339 is a better plane in terms of flying. Take a look at my video and you will see that there are a couple of very hard maneuvers.... the MB-399 don't have a problem with those. Since it fuse it very long and that can cause some twisting during some maneuvers, I installed some CF stripes on the side (to make it stiffer). The visibility in the air is better with the T-33. Those big pylons for sure stick out....

[quote]ORIGINAL: rslstft Wow, Gonzalo, that is a fantastic field! I usually go to Mendoza, Argentina once a year flying through Santiago. I may just have to extend my time in Chile and come out and visit! Make me jealous tho! Won't want to go home. We are in the process of getting the necessary permits to start the construction of the club house so in the meanwhile, we just barbecue near the pit area. Nothing in life is perfect... [:D]

RE: Storage - hanging jets from the ceiling
Guys: Thanks for the help. I now have some more clear ideas of what I want to do. All of you have provided some great info. I will need to post some pictures when I'm done with my remodeling. Regarding the club.... I must say that we are lucky. We have around 250 acres that are shared by different disciplines. We have two runways for airplanes. One is a little bit smaller than the one you have seen in the pictures but it has the same type of pits. They are in the process of pouring the asphalt for this runway. We aslo have two off road and one off road tracks, one place for flying helicopters, one place for flying gliders, one place for U-Control and a big lake for sailboats. We are still working on the facilities and hopefully by the end of the year we will have our club house ready. The terrace of the clubhouse is going to be over the lake so while having lunch we will be able to enjoy the view of some regattas.... who said heaven ? I will post some additional pictures later so that you can keep drooling...... [:D] if any of you guys have a plan of visiting Chile, you are more than welcome to come and visit us. RE: Storage - hanging jets from the ceiling
[quote]ORIGINAL: marc s I have recently made some display stands which are for Jetpower to hold jets I am showing, the position is adjustable from nose down to almost level - in nose down they take up about half the space of a jet on its wheels...... maybe thats an option? You could add wheels too so it cold be moved around in a workspace easily too [;)] marcs [/quote] That's a great idea. I like them. Attaching wheels wouldn't be a problem. Let me know if you have plans of selling them. The only problem for me could be the cost of freight.... but definitely I would prefer this type of solution.

Marc: Thanks. That looks like a very simple solution. Just don't know if my ceiling is too high for doing that. Harley: Thanks. Cool system. Perfect fit to use with the Revoc straps. Brian: I have no more space available for expanding. I already joined two (2) 40' containers and don't have space to add a third one. That's why I'm looking at the alternative of hanging the models. I've been also thinking about the possibility of putting the against the wall and support them in the area of the wing root. I don't know if this would create problems or not.

Storage - hanging jets from the ceiling
I'm starting to run out of space for storing my jets and I was wondering if there is a system available that would allow you to safely hang up your fully assembled jets from the ceiling. My idea is to keep all of my jets assembled (or at least most of them..... ) and in that way don't loose any time in assembly/disassembly processes. I don't want to put another shelf in my container and I was thinking that hanging from the ceiling would be a good alternative..... at least for my smaller and lighter jets. Anybody doing this ? In the picture, you can see my actual setup. It needs some more order in order to fit a large hawk, a viperjet, a A-10, another Tucano, a marchetti, a large tutor and a comp arf corsair. I'm in the process of getting rid of all the small planes in order to have some more space available. [image]http://imageshack.us/a/img715/8895/img1813w.jpg[/image]
