RE: Topflite Gold kit P-47
I absolutely love the dle I would recommend it to anyone building this plane. It's a perfect combination, I would also recommend a 16x10 or 17x8 prop. Just pulls it beautifully little over power but not much, also sounds hell of a lot better too.

RE: A clever way to store your airplanes!
This is how I hang my planes in my garage but I use bicycle hooks and small rope. As for the wife thing my wife excepts it(she is even the one that told me to order my first plane) but she does not like it one but. She feels I spend WAY to much money on it and she proeeds to yell at me [:(]. Just wait till she finds out I'm ordering the landing gear to one of my planes and I am in the process of buying a discontinued TF kit [:D]. Jordan

RE: Good news from Great Planes !!!
Agreed it would be nice if they would start releasing more kits. Lately I have found myself looking for a few discontinued Top Flite kits like the AT-6 Texan, FW109 and a couple others, not with the intent of building them anytime soon just so if I want to build them I have them available to me instead of hoping and praying that I could find one. I would be interested in a couple of those kits and I may buy 1 or 2 just to show there is interest out there. Jordan

RE: Servo screws
On our six is right I did initially balance my prop after the tips were painted but I inspected the prop and found a couple chips out of the painted tips. So I rechecked the prop it was a little out of balance so I added a small amount of CA to the tip and it balanced out perfectly. I also added more CA to the servo tray where the screws go in, let it dry and then added another drop to each hole then screwed in the servos so hopefully they will never come apart again. On the cowl I did drill out the cowl mounts a little bit and then stuck a piece of nyrod tube into each one then used some CA to secure them in. They cowl screws sure did tighten down nicely, I also added a washer to each screw to apply pressure to more than just the little screw head. Thank you all for the advice it was all wonderful as usual. Thanks Jordan

Where can you pick up nyrod tube? Are there differnt size tubes? And do you make it flush with the cowl block? Thanks for all the advice I appreciate it thank you. Jordan

Servo screws
What methods can be used to secure the servo screws into the servo tray? I just maidened my P-47 yesterday and after I took it apart today to make sure everything was tight still I found 4 servo screws on 2 different servos had came loose and fell out. I did put a few drops in the threads but that obviously didn't make a difference. I also had all the cowl screws come loose and 1 fall out, a guy at my fieldtold me to put silicone on them to keep them in place. so do I just put this on the threads and then screw them in? I need to find ways too hold the screws in place from the vibration of a DLE 20. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks Jordan

RE: Topflite Gold kit P-47
Well I have an update on the Jug and it finally some good news. I finally got my maiden flight in last night and beside the elevator being way off it was an awesome plane to fly. we started doing preflight and dialing expo over by the trucks. decided to pull it away before we started it since there was a few people there talking. brought it out onto our field a little bit and went over and finished anything we found to be wrong or misadjusted. set the choke the DLE 20 popped on about the 4th or 5th start with the electric starter. Then turned off the choke and she came alive. I decided not even to taxi it around figured that would get my nerves going even more with anticipation so I just went for it. I throttle up and it tracked beautifly down the runway didn't have to give it much rudder. As soon a she got enough speed she lifted off the ground and climb almost inverted though that was the scary thing and the only thing that went wrong in flight so I had to trottle up more and give it alot of down elevator. Once it got leveled out another guy at the field trimmed the elevator down for me all the way the radio would go and I still had to give it down elevator to keep it level it just wanted to keep climbing. Looking back now it is possible I made an adjustment before that I forgot about and never rechecked the elevator to see if it was level. I then proceded to fly it for about 3 min or so was kind of hard to keep it level it started to look like a whale with wings in the air since I had to fight the elevator the whole time but it flew amazingly well with about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. The DLE 20 is a great amount of power and probably is to much engine for her but it just pulls it beautifly. After about 3 min I decided to try coming in for a landing to check her out so I came around and set up my approach but I was coming in to fast and a little to far out, so I decided to take another shot at it. Came around the 2nd time and hit the runway a little better but I got 2 far down the runway before she got close to landing so throttle back up once again for another go. Came around for the 3rd time after backing ourselves up to get a little more room to land and came down nice and smooth kept the nose down slightly like I was told and she flared down and landing just perfectly. I don't think anyone could have landed it any better. After I landed I looked it over real quick and I had lost 2 cowl srews and the holes on 2 of the others got a little damage from the vibration of the engine. Tonight I will be disassembling her and doing a good inspection to see how everythin else held up. I don't think I'm going to find to much that came loose but never hurts to look her over. I did not get any video of it last night on its maiden flight, was worried that would bring bad luck as I have heard from many people that recording your maiden flight can bring bad luck, so with that being said I will look her over tonight, fix what needs to be fixed and the bring it back out on sunday and get a few videos as well. RE: O.S Max 25
You may be able to find spare parts for that engine be you may not be able to find all. A new O.S. 25 LA goes for $79.99. but you have to look at how much time it will take to disassemble the engine, how much the parts wil cost and if you can find the parts. I would say yes you probably can get that engine working again but I would just order a new engine. Thats just me though, easier and a new engine will probably have a little more power to it as well. RE: Can't freeze LiFe???
I would not freeze these batteries, I had 1 of these in my thunder tiger raptor 30. I stored that heli last year in my garage when I went to pull it out this spring to put into a different plane the battery would not charge only had 1 cell left and that cell only had .8 volts. If these things do freeze it will ruin them. I would do whatever you can to make these removable for the winter months. With that being said I do still use them, I have 1 in my mustang and I have 1 in my Jug for the reciever the one that is dead was supposed to be the ignition battery on the jug but I had to throw in a NiMH battery instead till I buy another LiFe battery. I would recommend them they discharge slowly, I have flown about 6 flights before I recharged it this last time and the battery was at 78% they are great batteries. Jordan

RE: Topflite Gold kit P-47
Well update on my jugs maiden flight, still hasn't happened. I brought it out to the field this afternoon, fueled it up did my preflight and went to fire it up..... Nothing happened turned it over about 5 more times and nothing. The guys I fly with were wanting to see it in the air so they convinced me to pull the cowl off and try and figure it out. So I did, found what we thought the fuel lines to be mixed up. Swapped the fuel lines on the carb and got it running but would stay running kept getting air bubbles in the fuel lines. I said screw it and gave up on it for the night and went and flew my mustang. Almost had a mishap with that plane as well, brought the plane around for the final approach and as I turned left I lost orientation on her. flew it right along the tree line, I even think the right wing tip brushed the leaves...afterwards I had to go home and change my pants.....lol Well I got home and dug into the jug and pulled out the fuel tank, I really don't know what was wrong. The only thing I can think of was when I had the fuel tank out last time I pulled a little to hard on the carb line as I was feeding the lines through the firewall. I ordered a few things for the fuel tank and lines to hopefully eliminate any problems, should be here before the weekend. Bad thing that happened though is that for some reason when fueling the tank over filled in the fuse and I got gas all in it. I cleaned it out as best as I could and now its drying out. Question though how tight do you tighten the fuel tank plug? I thought you tighten it until the plug just starts to push past the outter plate. Any help with this will be appreciated. This was the 3rd time I've tried to maiden her and I have issues with the fuel system all 3 times, different problem each time. I'm starting to think this plane just doesn't want to be flown :( Jordan

RE: Order A Kit Today!
I just ordered a Ziroli Stuka Fiberglass fuselage kit from PCK and then the fiberglass fuselage, canopy, cowl and wheel pants from Ziroliplans.com. I would think that the fuse and all accessories will be here sometime in the next couple weeks, but the kit itself may be 8 weeks or so depends on if they have it cut or need to cut a kit out. Well its time to get ready to go to my first fly in event, Its going to be a long dirve but should be lots of fun. Jordan

RE: Which should I build next?
I was going to go with the B version as that is what the plans and kit are designed around. The one with the cannons is a G version which has a longer fuselage and a wider wingspan. I do plan on doing a D version eventually, but this is the 2nd plane I've built so I'm still trying to stick to plans. I will probably do some modifications to make it more scale but it will be more or less the way Ziroli designed it. Jordan
