I do not own a turboprop but I know 2 people who do. The Wren one seems to work perfectly. The Jet cat one had many problems including seizing and parts vacating the engine. Paul

RE: wren 44 blade failure
Any turbine can fail, as can any piece of mechanics or electronics from any manufacturer. Even Rolls Royce have failure! I have to say that a 44 turbine blade failure is new to me, as Jason said, "you are very special". One thing is for sure, Wren will sort out the problem for you, on that (IMHO) they are the best. RE: Do you trust FESTO for fueling?
ORIGINAL: KC36330
ORIGINAL: ianober Festos work fine for the positive pressure side of the fuel system, I do not use them on the negative pressure side (suction).
unless the negative pressure is enough to collapse the tubing the O-ring seals the same regardless of positive or negative pressure. I've used them on my vacuum system with the poly ice maker tubing and never had a leak but i don't know that I'd trust one to not leak with soft Tygon tubing.... i think you'll find the leak comes from the check valve portion of the Festo fitting when used in the application the OP has intended.
Festo and all other type of o-ring seal fittings are not designed to work under vacuum. The seal, being an o ring, requires positive pressure to 'energise' and function as a seal, negative pressure will allow air past once the surface contact of the o ring against the pipe is overcome. I have seen these fittings leak back on many occasions, not just in models but many applications. (Part of what i do for a living is design pneumatic circuits) Bi-directional seals can be designed but as these are compressed air fittings they are not designed to work that way. I agree that low negative pressure may not produce a leak but this is not by design and cannot be relied on. I would have absolutely no issues using them anywhere on the positive side of the pump but nowhere else. Paul

Here is one i would not do, but a friend has, it works perfectly and has been for around 2 years. One of them is taped to the UAT. Paul

RE: 2.4 GHz Weatronics, PPM or PCM?
ORIGINAL: Robrow Would be interesting to see any other 2.4 antenna installs. Rob.
Robrow. All of the installs below have been used and fully flight tested using FASST, i see no reason why they would not do just as well with Wea. The last one has 1 antenna inside the pilots head, the other runs along the base. Zero issues with any of them, in over 2 years flying. Paul

RE: 2.4 GHz Weatronics, PPM or PCM?
ORIGINAL: Gandalv Maybe of topic and maybe a dumb question, but here goes If there is about 1meter from the turbine to the mounting place of the receiver, it seems that the blindspot/shadow behind the turbine for the receiver is about 1m at a distance of 5meter behind the plane (and I guess this shadow will be increasing further back?). Wouldn't longer antennas be better to help out the shadowing or is this not a problem in real flight ? Thanks. Regards from Gandalv
On the FASST system and also it appears the W’tronics system, no issue is found, refer to my testing thread you will see that is the case. Paul

RE: 2.4 GHz Weatronics, PPM or PCM?
ORIGINAL: sidgates David Gladwin- If you have any comments I would like to hear from you. Do you have your antennas inside a fiberglass fuselage on your jets? I am open to any other suggestions you might have.
Sidgates From my experience helping David and also of FASST which uses the same type of aerials on the rx, there is absolutely no issues with Fibreglass fuselages. David. I have done extensive tests on the ground with carbon fibre on the FASST system and have to say I can detected no appreciable performance issues. I know Spektrum has issues in this area. To be fair I have not flight tested in a full carbon fuselage my tests were in the L39 which is Carbon from the intakes rearward. With the rx up front, from rear aspect the aerials do not have a clear view of the tx, 2 layers of carbon and the tailpipe are in the way. I experienced zero issues with this install. My early ground tests (see the thread) involved placing the RX inside the tailpipe which was inside the carbon fuselage, all was well! As the Weat has the same aerial setup is may function as well as FASST in this environment. It would be an interesting test for you/me to do, perhaps at Scampton?? Paul
