RE: Transmitter Impound
At our field we took down the transmitter impound rack. We then filled the rack with gravel and now use it to drag the runway edges. It's been a good rack.

RE: Great Planes 25% Pitts M-12s 3D
This is what I did to my second replacement fuse: 1.Guerilla glue balsaply doublers to the front and rear formers. You’ll need to make four doublers parts, left/right for front and left/right for rear. The fronts will be a pain to reach but the Guerilla glue provides relaxed set time allowing you to center the doubles where needed. Glue the fronts one night and do the rears on the next night. See picture at post 244. 2.Guerilla glue “hobbyply braces topside of landing gear plate. Glue these at both ends outside from the two blind nuts securing the landing gear. The landing gear plate fails in this area due to weak landing gear plate and design lacking metal L brackets. See picture at post 244. 3.Soak the entire landing gear assemble with thin CA. Soak the plate, formers, and anywhere else you can reach. Use an entire large bottle of CA and apply several coats. Let dry for a few days, and hope you survive the CA fumes. This was a little effort that took a few minutes over several nights, and I have not had any problems over the countless landings, some good, some not so good. I think it was worth it since this plane flies very well. BTW, my first fuse landing gear plate failed on the third crosswind landing. Hobby Services replaced it at cost after I complained [8|]

Me to. I've got countless hours on them with no problems. Running unregulated A123 and Futaba FASST receivers. I'll continue to purchase them as needed.

RE: Great Planes 25% Pitts M-12s 3D
I’m on my second fuselage due to the landing gear failure. I put balsaply doublers on both front and rear formers. I also glued balsaply cap strips over the upper outside landing gear plate area. And finally, I soaked the entire assembly with thin CA. Hopefully this will hold during a normal cross wind landing. See attached picture. Any word on the timing for the next generation having landing gear assembly modifications??

RE: When a transaction goes bad?
Take your knocks and move on. Consider the episode as a lost/crashed airplane where something was learned. Expectations are that you’re going to lose an airplane through many causes, dumb thumbs, dead sticks, mid-airs, etc.. Consider this as another cause, learn from it, and then move on. Also, this person will one day get his comeuppance that will give you a healthy laugh. I always like to laugh out loud when someone I don’t like (and sometimes do like) crashes their plane at the club field. Maybe one day soon you’ll get that opportunity. Practice your “witch laugh.

RE: Annoying people at the field.
Hi folks, here’s a partial list of insults I’ve heard over the years at the flying field. These can be very helpful when dealing with difficult club memebers: Your plane so ugly it put the Boogie man out of business Our ugly plane contest is for armatures only They use your plane as a cookie cutter to make Halloween monster cookies We welcome your ugly airplane because it keeps away the rats Your airplane so ugly the cats try to bury it Your plane was designed on an Etch-A-Sketch Your plane is so greasy Texaco buys oil from it While you were taxing it looked like someone was kicking a tin can down the runway Which Wal-Mart did you acquire your plane from The odor coming from your plane is worse than the porta-potty Your plane so greasy you use bacon to patch-up the covering When I saw your plane wobbling down the runway with 1 wheel, I hollered - "Lost a wheel?", and he said - "Nope...just found one..." Your plane’s coving looks like used toilet paper being hung to dry How many props are you going to grind down today Your plane is in such poor shape even the Republicans will assistance you You fly so bad that you got tangled up in a trainer box cord My all time favorite: Did you mean to cover your plane like that

RE: Annoying people at the field.
This is an interesting post and I’m sorry if my question was previously discussed. Question: has anyone noticed that the field bully always has his friends nearby, and when no friend around the bully becomes somewhat human?? Also notice how the bully’s friends scatter when you challenge the bully?? I often challenge the bully just to watch his friends flee like rats leaving a sinking ship. Tyranny will prevail if good men do nothing…

RE: JR 9503 OR aURORA 9?
I really like JR products however after researching I decided on Futaba 12FG for my next 2.4 radio. The main reason was the overall approach and solutions to solving the age old problem of remote control. How does the transmitter communicate with the receiver?? I’m an old computer programmer and it seems that JR’s solution is stuck in the old “client server days where the receiver (i.e... desktop) is hard coded for operation. Example: Channel 1 is throttle. Futaba’s approach is similar to the web environment where the receiver does not have any absolute pre-determined configuration regarding channels controls. The receiver is not aware how channel 1 or 4,3,2 will be used until it receives instructions from the transmitter. Similar to your internet browser here where RC Universe’s web services is instructing your computer where the home, forum, buy & sell buttons are, etc... With Futaba I’ve really enjoyed programming the 12FG using multiple servos and instructing the transmitter to assign channels. This has worked very well using multiple servos and not having to use match boxes and extra batteries (more failure points) to accommodate each control surface having a dedicated servo. Each servo plugs directly into the receiver, and I tell the receiver, using the transmitter, how each servo is used. It appears that the Aurora 9 also has channel assignment selection. The Optima receiver is not channel aware until it is instructed by the transmitter. Too cool for school…. Question: Does the Aurora 9 servo monitor screen display the assigned channel function name (aile, thr, elev, etc.)??

RE: Best system Fut 12FG, ATX SD10G, Hitec A9
I've had the Futaba 12FG since December. Outstanding product!! Have flown several models with this radio at several fields, and have had no issues. Have already updated the software from Futaba's website. I've owned and operated Airtronics, JR, and others. The 12FG is by far the best radio I've owned. They'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands....

Dear O.S. Engine Support Will O.S. Flex Pipe FS120SIII 240mm 1414B attach to an O.S. FS-120S-E Surpass 4-Stroke w/o Pump?? I need to mate an O.S. Muffler Body F-5020 to this engine and I'm hoping to use this flex pipe for this application. Thanks

RE: Moki 1.80 question
Yes, large fuel tubing including the clunk and metal tube through the tank stopper. Exhaust and fueler lines can be standard. I've set-up a few Mokis over the years for friends and I built their fuel tanks using large (not extra-large) fuel tubing from the clunk to the carb. All Mokis have been happy with this. No exhaust stack pinching, no fuel pumps, no upline leans, no hassels, etc... Final word: Don't touch that big wheel on the carb.

RE: WillHobby Extra 330 1.4 ARF
Dear Everybody, I balanced at the wing main spar which is about 5 inches from the leading edge. Also, always seal your aileron and elevator hinge gaps using clear monokote or equivalent. It’s not that hard to do and it is a good habit. I’ve had too many instances where the hinge failed and the monokote sealing the hinge line saved the day by preventing the control surface from separating completely.

RE: WillHobby Extra 330 1.4 ARF
This plane flies OK. It has a high wing loading so its wings begin to rock upon landing. I programmed flaps using 20% which seems to reduce wing rock and keeps the nose lower upon landing. I had to add weight up front to balance after moving battery far forward as possible. Had to use Du-Bro control horns and one wheel broke upon landing. Other than that it appears to be a decent ARF.
