I have to say that I really like the "look" of your airplane. Bears a strong resemblance to 70's era FAI T/R airplanes. Nice job !

RE: Line dia. vs length question
Gene .012 dia. lines are good on airplanes that weigh up to 40 oz. regardless of engine size. These days they must take a 10g pull test. You can look up the rule book on the AMA web site showing airplane weight and line size dia. [;)]

Gus Like you, I recently returned to C/L and I'm having a ball. Even entered a couple of contests this summer with my Brodak Magician which I built over the winter months. It is a good flyer and I'm really enjoying it .

RE: Back in the game!
Oh yeah, I was so dizzy the first flight I almost fell down, and it lasted about 30 seconds. I looked like I was very drunk. I couldn't walk straight. I was amazed cause in all my years of C/L flying I never experienced any dizzyness. Of course I was a LOT younger then. Anyway, like you by the 4th flight I was over the dizzyness issue. Now I been practicing the beginner stunt pattern, and I'm startin to get it. Even flew in the Brodak contest last week. I'm having a ball for sure.[:D]

Hey guys, I know the feeling you are talking about. Just flew my first stunt contest after 35 years of NOT flying any C/L. I've got abut 20 flights under my belt and I'm starting to remember how to do this. Having a blast with my electric Magician. Can't get enough of it. May not even go back to RC this season at all. Michael Your airplane gets more scale like every day. Now it has scale hangar rash damage and the appropriate repair. Just like during WW1 in the field !!! It's not everyone who is willing to go to such great lengths to simulate hangar rash damage as you. Awsome ! [:D]

RE: Fokker D.VII 1/4 Balsa USA
Michael As far as more info on a specific area of the build goes, there is some interest as follows. Traditionally WWI airplanes tend to be tail-heavy, and large amounts of nose weight are necessary to obtain the correct CG. So during a build, careful attention to how much weight goes in the tail is sometimes required. Are there measures you took in this DVII build to keep the tail light so as not to have to add too much nose weight ? If so could you share what the measures were.[:)]

RE: Flite Streak for Tee Dee
George It's not a problem to fly a 10 oz airplane with a 30" wing span with a .051 if the wing is not to thick, like a typical 1/2A wing. But when you consider that the Jr flite streak wing is almost 1-1/2" thick, then you add a degree of difficulty which is not quite in the scope of 1/2 A power. I'm not saying it won't fly. I'm just saying I don't think it will fly well (And l suppose our definition of "WELL" may be different) with all the drag of that thick airfoil. But good luck to you. I hope you prove me wrong. [:D]

RE: Flite Streak for Tee Dee
George An .051 won't fly a Jr. Streak very well in my opinion. The jr streak has a mighty thick wing for anything much under a .15 size engine and a 7" dia. prop. A small diesel can swing a 7" prop OK, but a glow .051 won't do it very well. Even at 10 oz all up weight that .051 is going to be blowing it's brains out trying to move that big thick wing around the circle. Just my opinion for what it's worth. [;)]
