RE: FCC approval required for 2.4G Orange & FrSky FASST Clones ???
I went to Hobbytown USA today and checked out the some Rx. The genuine Futaba FASST Rx had "Tested to comply with FCC standards" with no FCC ID. I also checked the Tactic Rx and it had nothing on it either. This means that the FrSky FASST compatible Rx does not require FCC approval either. The Hitec's Optic 6 2.4GHz receiver had FCC ID: IFHOPT6-24G because it’s a transceiver and not just a receiver. Thanks

RE: FCC approval required for 2.4G Orange & FrSky FASST Clones ???
Silent-AV8R, Since it say "Tested to comply with FCC standards", and there is no FCC ID number on it, it does not have to be approved by the FCC. As far as my understanding, if it transmit, it must have FCC ID. Thanks

FCC approval required for 2.4G Orange & FrSky FASST Clones ???
Does 2.4GHz Receivers requires FCC approval if they don't transmit and only receive? FrSky and Orange clone Futaba FASST receiver are passive and I don't think they are FCC approved. Thanks

RE: SHARE YOUR FrSky 2.4GHz EXPERIENCE !!!
I did see the RCModelreview. It's important to know what people are experiencing in the field in real world! When manufacturer send test samples to anyone to review, they make sure it is pretested and workring properly. I got rid of Corona due to very slow relink after brownout. I have converted JR XP7202 and JR XF631 to FrSky and works great!

RE: SHARE YOUR FrSky 2.4GHz EXPERIENCE !!!
I am not an Electrical Engineer but I am sure that the hardware is easy to copy. To come up with source code is much harder I bet for a FHSS over the DSSS system. Just when we though that we would be locked in to high priced big boys 2.4GHz receivers, FrSky comes out budget FHSS clones. Futaba FASST supposed to be the top notch system. If they can duplicate Futaba, watch out Hitec, Airtronics & Spektrum DSMX ! FrSky has 5 different FASST Rx’s now. The newest one is a 4 Channel TFR4 which is not on Hobby King yet. I will bet it sells for $15 !!! http://www.frsky-rc.com/Products.asp?BigClassID=18

SHARE YOUR FrSky 2.4GHz EXPERIENCE !!!
Today, I flew my ElectriFly FlyLite EP ARF (Indoor/outdoor) with my JR XP7202 converted to 2.4G with FrSky V8HT 2.4Ghz DIY Module and a V8R4 short range Rx (500m range). I flew the plane in my neighborhood and everything seems to work just fine. This is a hell of deal for $15 Tx Module and $15 Rx! The main reason I bought FrSky is because it is a FHSS system vs. Corona and others which are DSSS from Hobby King. I can not believe how fast it binds. My impressions of FrSky is that a Chinese Manufacturer has finally made a very good viable 2.4GHz system. They have also managed to break the code and reverse engineer the so called sophisticated Futaba FAAST system and now making clone Rx’s at a fraction of the cost of Futaba. I suspect we will see more clones coming from FrSky for Futaba, Hitec and Airtronics as the conversion market dries up. I also bought the Extended range (1.5km-2.5km) V8FR 2.4Ghz 8CH Receiver which I am planning to put in my 40 size plane. At this time, I am little reluctant to put in my bigger plane. I am wondering what kind of experience people have had with FrSky products? How does it compare to the big boys such as Futaba, Hitec and Airtronics which are all FHSS ? Any issues at crowded field? Thanks

Competitive priced Hitec 2.4GHz receivers ???
This question is for Mike Greenshields Tower Hobbies is selling the Futaba R2106GF 6-Channel 2.4GHz FHSS Micro Receiver for $35. Others are selling them for even lower at $30. At these prices, there is no need to buy clones from China. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXARPA&P=7 The Hitec’s Optima 6 Lite - 6 Channel 2.4Ghz Receiver is in similar class as Futaba and Futaba has a larger market share Mike, is Hitec going to introduce lower priced Rx or may be consider lowering the price of Optima 6 Lite to stay competitive? For my kids, I am considering purchasing two entry level Computer Radio's with price of extra receivers as a strong deciding factor. As the 2.4GHz conversion market dries up, the Chinese manufactures will eventually make more and more clone receivers. It's matter of time. The Chinese manufactures are making decent quality Futaba clones Rx for fraction of the cost which are perfect of indoor and slow flyers. This is probably the main reason to come out with lower price FHSS system with $30 Rx. Thanks

RE: JR XP-7202 WORKS FINE AS SALVE (STUDENT) BUT NOT AS A MASTER (TEACHER). PLEASE HELP !!!
The XP7202 is for me and the XF631 is for my son. Both of these radios were converted to Corona 2.4. The XF631 is straight forward. The PPM signal was cut from the FM board and wired to the Corona 2.4 board. The XP7202 was almost straight forward. On XP7202, the PPM signal is sent to the synthesizer board and there appears to be some feedback to the mail board. This connector which was removed per instruction from JETI which might cause an issue. This is the step 5 picture. I am not using the JETI module but did use the MX16 instructions. See the pictures. Thanks.

The JR XF631 and the JR XP7202 are both computer radios. There is nothing to setup on the XF631 for trainer. As I said, the XF631 can be used as the trainer (Master/Teacher) with the XP7202, but not the other way around. Thanks. JR XP-7202 WORKS FINE AS SALVE (STUDENT) BUT NOT AS A MASTER (TEACHER). PLEASE HELP !!!
I am trying to set up my JR XP-7202 radio as the Master/Teacher and the JR XF-631 as the Slave/Student buddy box. When I hold down the trainer rocker button, nothing happens. The trainer button does changes the trim on the flaps. I tried to change the trainer to the right side and still not able to make it work. I also tried in Normal and P-Link mode. However, when I set my XP-7202 as a Salve/P-Link (student), I am able to control the model with XF-631 as a primary (teacher) by pressing and holding down the trainer button. Everything works fine. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

JR XP7202 "WARNING SCREEN" missing!
My JR XP7202 was not transmitting so I checked Pin 1 (Vcc) on connector CN9 which read only .872 volts. The rechecked the voltage the next day and then it read 7.82 volts which I believe is correct. On JR XP7202, the main board has an output on connector CN9 which feeds the frequency synthesizer module. The strange thing is that the “WARNING! screen is gone for some reason! When the transmitter is first turned on, the screen should display “WARNING! and the current channel and frequency used is displayed. At this time no signal is being transmitted. If I want to transmit on this frequency, I have to press the clear key and the transmitter will begin transmitting on the selected channel displayed and the screen will display the main menu Now when I turn on the transmitter, it goes straight to the main menu. Any clues? Thanks

RE: Corona Receivers...
tina0506 I have JR XP7202 which I would like to convert to 2.4. This radio does not use module so I would have to mount the module inside the radio. Which module will work with JR XP7202 ? The Corona JR or Futaba ? I found this French website and after translating in Google, it said the JR would not work and he used Futaba and had to convert the PPM to make it work. Thanks.

TRANSMITTER MODIFICATION AND AMA ON 2.4 GHZ MOUDLES
I am trying to find out where AMA and possibly FCC stand when modifying transmitter. My JR XF631, JR XP7202 and Royal EVO did come with external RF module. The EVO was made to replace the crystal based module with a synthesized one. XPS and now ASSAN make a module for EVO to convert to 2.4 GHz. The JR XF631 and JR XP7202 does actually have a RF module which was not intended to be removable. ASSAN make a module which could be fitted to practically any radio which has internal module. The ASSAN module is FCC approved. My question is where does AMA stands when it comes to modifying the transmitter to convert it to 2.4 GHz. Thanks.

RE: Futaba 2.4G receiver pricing
I agree 100%. With each manufacturer offering their own proprietary transmitter and specially their proprietary receiver, they can charge anything they want. The 2.4 GHz technology is nothing new but it is new to RC Hobby. If companies like Assan can make receiver for $30 why not Futuba and JR? Keep in mind, 99,999% of all 2.4 GHz computer wireless routers, wireless pc cards are made in china. The Chinese will learn and eventually make good 2.4 GHz hobby products. What is cool is that someone named Meng of Assan actually guided me through how to convert my old JR XF631 and XP7202 radios which do not have the module. Try that with Futaba and JR. Jeti is coming out with a systems that is a combination of both FASST and Spektrum. I spoke with Hobby-Lobby and they have it and soon will be on their website. It will be interesting what their prices will be. I have too many old receivers and with crash like this one, I am not completely sold on 2.4 GHz yet! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDn2Qp-vkKA http://www.jetimodel.cz/eng/duplex_en.html http://www.corona-rc.com/ http://www.assan.cn/main/product_24Ghz_all_en.html http://www.ezc-rc.com/Products.htm

Tired of waiting on Hitec/Multiplex for 2.4GHz Module
I purchased my Multiplex Royal EVO 9 several years ago and have been very happy with it. Many members of my clubs have switched over to the 2.4. My patient has run out and just about tired of Hitec/Multiplex to come up with a module for my radio. I bought this radio because of its upgradeability. I on the border line about switching over to Futaba. I am not interested in after market module such as XPS. This technology is nothing new. Even people like esky are offering low end helicopter with 2.4 GHz radio. On Hitec’s website it reads “Welcome to the Next Generation. I think it should read last Generation! Just checking to see how others are feeling about Hitec/Multiplex lack of 2.4 developments or much of anything else.
