RE: L39/Wren 44 Pics and video
GrayUK what is the distance between your turbine and the pipe. I am re-mounting mine with some new straps. I have had this plane for years but haven't flown it that much because my 44 has not been as reliable as I would like. I think the distance from the pipe might have been the reason because it runs well in another plane.

I was thinking about using an E-Flite motor on my conversion. Does anyone know what size would be the best? I have a Power 60 that is just laying around. Would that be too big? Thanks.

Craig would it be possible to show us how you are doing the conversion? If it's not to complicated I might try is myself. The best price I've been abe to get for converting a set is $500 USD. That's pretty expensive for a fairly inepensive set of retracts. Hal

They sure are close but still would require modification of the wing which I'm afraid to do. I think the wing is glassed and I don't want to mess it up. It looks like more and more electric retracts are becoming available. Hopefully I can find a set that will fit or a conversion kit that will work with what I have got. Thanks for the help Gordon.

RE: L39/Wren 44 Pics and video
Well, I received the trailing link struts from Tam. Excellent workmanship and fit. I was going to use E-Flite electric retracts but have found they are too deep and will not fit in the wing so I'm back to square one. I have a set of Spring-Air 301's but I want to go electric. Down and Locked will convert them for $500 which is pretty steep for $170 retracts. Does anyone know of another conversion kit that might work with Spring-Air or some electric retracts that will drop in?

For anyone who is interested and is still flying the Savex L-39. Tam has installed a set of his trailing link gear on a Savex L-39 for a friend. I have converted mine to E-Flite electric retracts and am going to try a set of his gear on mine. I fly off a grass field and have found trailing link much more suitable. Hal

I guess this thread will never die. I have an old Savex L-39 and have repainted it and want to start flying it again. I am using wire gear but would like to replace them with a set of trailing link gear. What is my best choice and where can I purchase a set? Thanks for any help. Hal

I am flying an E-Turbinator with one. Perfect power. Will fly off grass easily but is not really that sleek looking. I have a CMP T-45 also but am wondering if it will fly off grass because it is much larger than the Turbinator.

Barry & Joe Thanks for the help. I went to full throttle rather than over 1/2. I just wanted to make sure I had it set up properly. My other FADEC ECU's will not run the starter in the ready mode, only at trim low.

RE: KingTech K-80
I have a new kero start K-80. I ran it for the first time yesterday. It's my 5th turbine so I'm not new to the setup procedure. However, when I run the throttle up to start it the starter motor starts spining like it should when the trim is all of the way down. Is this suppose to happen? The Ecu says ready, not trim low like it should to manually run the cool down.

90mm Turbinator
Has anyone built a 90mm Turbinator from Laser Design? I am working on one but am undecided on what size turbine to use. I have a Wren 44 and a Jetat P-20. The web site suggest a P-20. I have a P-20 on the E-Turbinator which is a smaller version of the 90mm and it is perfect. I just wonder if a Wren 44 would be too large? Thanks in advance. Hal

RE: Wood jet kits.
Turbinators are a pretty easy build. Have built two sizes. One is a 72% for a Wren 44 and an E-Turbinator for a Jetcat P-20. I have flown the P-20 but not the 44 size. Really a blast and easy to fly. You can get short kits from Laser Design Services.

RE: 54 Mark II stopping abruptly
Ron It is stopping while running. It has the original pump that came with it. I think it is a Hausl. My fuel is fresh, batteries were fresh and I had a filter in the fuel line. I think I am going to change all of my Wren's to Flightworks pumps. Will I need to change any settings? Hal

54 Mark II stopping abruptly
Ron I have a couple of old 54 Mark II's with original fuel pumps. Yesterday I flew my plane once and it started and ran fine. The second time I started it and was putting the canopy on it just quit. No smoke like a flame out. I started it again and it did the same thing. I'm wondering if the old pump could be the problem? The turbines have very little time on them. Hal

Billy D Were your 90mm jets at Florida Jets electric or turbine powered? I have a 90mm T-45 that I am trying to decide what size turbine I should use. I have a P-20 but will be flying it off grass and am wondering if I should wait until the M-35 come out. It is suppose to have more thrust. Hal

RE: need turbine for 83% turbinator
Randy I have two low time autostart Wren 54's. One is on a Boomerang Nano and the other is on a Sprint. I also have a 83% Turbinator that I was planning on putting one of the 54's on. I have a CMP T-45 that I would like to put a Merlin 35 or Jetcat P-20 on so I was thinking about selling the Sprint and Nano and using those funds to finance it. Do you ever make the Afterburner jet fly here in Mississippi? Might be able to work something out. Hal
