RE: Two new turbine guys in N. Nevada, pics..
I am sorry I missed these new guys and the "Jet Day" in the Reno area. I moved to Carson City in December and was also at Cal Jets with my new birds. Tell them to please let me know when they are flying jets again and I will be there with an Ultra Flash and an F-16. I am the only turbine guy in Carson City that I know of. We have a nice field in Carson and it would be great if they could come down and visit. I live in a full scale airpark in Dayton, Nv and we can fly here also. Please give them my phone number or send me their's. Hal (928) 486-6182

RE: JETCAT P20 No Acceleration During Start up..
If anything got on the starter o-ring like a drop of kero or any oily substance the starter will slip and not spin the rotor fast enough to start. Try cleaning the o-ring and the rotor nut with a little alcohol or brake clean on a q-tip swab.

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
I have built four and they were all set up by the book and all roll like a Dewalt drill. Some people like to tone down the throws a little but the differential aileron is mandatory with this airframe if you want an axial roll.

RE: Cermark F-16 Flyers - HELP!
I have had two and the cg was about 6"-6 1/4". I also did an throttle/elevator mix of 1% down and solved the climing problem. Shimming the turbine will do nothing to change the thrust angle because the pipe straightens the thrust back out. You could change the thrust angle of the pipe but a mix is much simpler and works fine.

RE: ITS ONNNN
Not an AMA event, not an AMA problem. They are a great organization and do much to promote the hobby but the members ARE the AMA and without the members there is no AMA. If they chose not to be involved in a positive way, they will most likely be hands off. To do otherwise would not help with membership numbers. The FAA is a different story. They have jurisdiction in all US airspace. As long as they know what''s going on there should be no problem.

Hanger 9 had the ULTRA name long before BV and powered heavier than air flight came from Wilber and Orville, or was it the One that made Eagles? There are no original ideas just improvements. The UL looks great!

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
I have 130+ flights on mine and not all were perfect landings with never a bent or broken 8mm pin or trunion. On a hard surface the stock gear is fine and you will not find better brakes IMO. It's the only system I have had that will hold air for months. The tires could use some improvement though. Be sure and glue them to the wheels or be ready to chase them down the runway![:D]

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Make sure you drill and ream the holes straight. Chuck up one of the old 6mm pins in your drill press and slide the truinon onto the pin then clamp the trunion in the vise. Put the 8mm drill or reamer in the chuck and go to town. Much eaisier than using and indicator. If you try and do it without aligning and clamping you will be buying new trunions (ask me how I know [:@])

RE: Fromeco lion 2600 bat for jet
Why would you not want to increase the MAH of the pack? A Fromeco 5200 MAH pack is lighter and smaller than any 5200 NIMH that I have ever seen. Do you have another reason to not go more MAH? Sounds like a good answer to the concern you stated in your question. I use either 2 Fromeco 2400 or a single 5200 to power all of my jets radio systems with one or two regs.

RE: Anyone own this spray gun washer?
I think it is worth it if you have guns that you want to last and work well. I've been wanting one and you just pushed me over the edge. (it just cost me $200.00 to read your post) It will pay for itself in solvent cost if you do much painting not to mention keeping your guns debris free. I destroyed a gun a couple of weeks ago by leaving urethane in it for a few days.[&o]

Big Yellow f-18 Tiger meet
Thought I would post some pics of the progress on Mark Jarrell"s new Yellow F-18 ARF. We are doing it in the Canadian Tiger Meet scheme. This is an awesome kit with most of the hard work done by Yellow. I'm posting the pictures here because Mark can't figure out how to open them from his e-mail account. [:D]

I have used the zip tie system in several Rookies and it works good for me. You squeeze the vector tube in an oval. There should be a picture in the manual but they may not addess it in words. I only read the pictures.[:D]

Scotty: I had two quit on me so I took them apart and one had a wire that had fallen off the switch and the other one had a stuck brush. Brushes are available fro McMastercarr. I do abuse them and they seem to hold up pretty well.

RE: Smoke system question.......
All my jets and paint stir planes have smoke and I have used several Tam systems (the very best system available at present IMO) as well as the Sullivan and a home made-from-old-fuel-pump system and all worked great. I never used a second receiver and never had any glitches with 72mhz or since switching everything over to 2.4ghz. A separate battery is a good idea. Keep the pump and esc away from the receiver and you will be good to go. You will need a steel tube to go in the turbine exhaust area. You can find it at McMastercar if you are building a custom sytem.

BME still doing business??
Is BME still in business? I have two BME gas engines and I have e-mailed with no response, called the number on the website several times during business hours and it just rings with no answer or voice mail. I need parts or I need to sell my BMEs and buy a differant brand. Anyone else have these problems with BME?

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
The Elan is a nice jet but to say it will do all the neat stuff the Flash will do is a stretch. Two differant animals, apples and oranges, ect. The Flash is also very forgiving on landing and will slow to a crawl. If you get it too slow it does not tip stall but drops straight down (ask me how I know).

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Mine came in at 23lbs (10.9 kg) with a Merlin, wing tank and Tam smoke system. You will have about 5 more lbs of fuel and will be somewhere around 12 kg flying weight. A P80 will do it if you are close to sea level and the runway is long enough. After a lap or two it will build speed and be fine.

RE: Who's using Mobil DTE light oil?
Be careful if you order this oil from JL Industrial. Placed an order last week after reading this thread and when they processed my order the shipping was $38.40. They upgraded it to next day air from ground and charged a hazard fee as well as sales tax. The total was $100.81 making it over $5.00 per quart and defeated the purpose of buying from them. I informed them by e-amil as soon as they sent the confirmation but they never responded and charged my card and shipped. Still no response after 7 days. If I wasn't such a nice guy I would have refused it and informed my card company but I was hoping they would make it right. First and last order from this company.
