RE: Schumacher's Newest Rc - Manic
A few years back, Schumacher were making an electric version of the manic themselves. It was called the E-Manic and I don't think they ever released it. It might be worth having a word with Schumacher and see if they can point you in the right direction..

RE: Schumacher's Newest Rc - Manic
£395 is around $590 US so that's quite a good price you can get it for. I can't give you any details on parts availability as i don't live in the US. About the HQ closing, they have said that parts can still be bought either from Schumacher UK or from your LHS [link=http://www.racing-cars.com/products.asp?hideall=Y&partno=news967&templateid=18&pagewidth=550]Link[/link]

RE: Schumacher's Newest Rc - Manic
I've had a manic for a couple of weeks now, got it for £395. The only bad things i can say about it are that i couldn't get it started without having to use a hair dryer to heat it up for the first 7 or 8 tanks. After that it starts pretty easily. After a run, it had a jolt when i pushed it forward, turns out some mud had got into the rear belt cog and had jammed itself into some of the teeth. It has had a few flips and landed on its roof a few times and has held up as well as my havoc so it seems very tough. The engines aren't that loud when compared with a savage x but they have so much power. The acceleration is instant and it gets to around 40-45mph and the brakes are pretty good because the radio gear it comes with has the option of ABS which twitches the throttle/brake servo between brake and neutral when the brakes are applied. It is a very fast and robust truck and is well worth the money. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and i'll do my best to help.

New Schumacher Manic Info
I have found some pictures that show some detail of the Manic's belt drive and other details [link=http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=33525]link[/link] I'm still not sure if the belt is going to hold up to off road driving though as it is completely exposed. It looks like the rears are driven straight from the spur gear and the belt is only used for the fronts.

RE: KM 5B Vs Rovan 5B
I think the metal loop on the top of the KM is so that hits the floor in a roll over and stops the rest getting much damage. I think i'm going to end up getting the ShengQi with some Proline Bow Tie tyres mounted on Desperado wheels [link=http://www.apexmodels.com/gbu0-prodshow/PL1150-13.html]Front[/link] [link=http://www.apexmodels.com/gbu0-prodshow/PL1151-13.html]Rear[/link] Theyr'e quite expensive but i'm saving so much money getting the ShengQi, it gives me money to spend on upgrades for it, and it's pretty pointless having that much power and no grip to put it to the ground with [:D] Cheaper tyres are available as you could just use the stock wheels with a set of HPI tyres. I'm not because i will use the paddles some times so i don't want to have to change the tyres constsantly, it's easier to change the wheels. I know the KM one is not far off being as expensive as an HPI one but the V2 HPI is £800 and all the upgrades on the KM would cost a lot to do to a stock Baja.

RE: KM 5B Vs Rovan 5B
i found this thread on the Rovan 5T clone [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8844585/tm.htm]link[/link] if this is anything to go by then the plastics Rovan use are of low quality so i'm not sure how they will hold up on the 5B.

RE: KM 5B Vs Rovan 5B
Can't really help you on whether the rovan is any good cos i am also looking for a clone to buy. I have been looking at the shengqi baja for £360 shipped [link=http://rccarsdeal.com/Baja_Buggy.aspx]link[/link] and the alloy 29cc version of the king motors baja, more expensive at $900 shipped or around £550 [link=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/King-Motor-KSRC-2-0-1-5-RC-Gas-Petrol-Baja-5-Buggy-29cc_W0QQitemZ250479281364QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Vehicles?hash=item3a51ba84d4&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177]link[/link] The only thing that puts me off the king motors one is that it is shipped from hong kong so it may hit import tax as it is a large parcel. £600 is very cheap seeing as all this alloy, exhaust and engine upgrades would cost you probably around an extra £500 to upgrade a stock baja. Sorry i couldn't give you any info on the Rovan as this is the first time i have heard of it so thanks for the info, you've given me another option[:)]

RE: which one???
Just do your research into a reliable car don't just look at their top speed as if you end up getting something that breaks a lot then you may end up getting out of the hobby whereas if you spent a little more money then you will enjoy the hobby a lot.[:D] I can't really suggest any cars because i live in the UK so i don't know the different cars that are available to you. All i can say is that Schumacher Havocs are extremely tough as mine has had some serious smashes and held up incredibly well. I am aware that Schumcher parts are hard to come by in the US so I wouldn't suggest that you buy one as a beginner. Just look into a more proven company, you can find all the info you need in this forum so just have a little search round.

RE: little kids
When i was out driving my havoc the other day with my uncle who has a riot, some kid stood right in front of me when i was landing from a jump. I was doing around 30mph and because i couldn't see i had a head on collision with my uncle's car. My front right wheel went flying down the park but luckily the only thing that broke was a steering arm but i still had a go at hte kid for pointlessly standing right in front of me [:@]

RE: Schumacher's Newest Rc - Manic
That engine looks incredible. I was planning on getting a Baja 5B 2.0 in a few months but now i think i'm going to get a manic instead as i have had hardly any problems with my havoc in a few years of owning it (well it did have a head on collision with a riot yesterday at 20mph and i broke a steering arm[sm=lol.gif]) The only thing i'm worried about is how that belt for the drive is going to cope with that engine.

RE: POST YOUR WORKS HERE!
My Proline 1980 Chevy Pick Up on my Havoc. I painted it with tamiya Gun Metal, the red on the back is tamiya Red. Both are from cans. The red on the front is cut out of a decal sheet.

RE: Havoc help
The drive problem sounds like the problem I have just had. You need to take the diff out and tighten up the grub screw as far as it will go and then loosen it a quarter of a turn. It shows you how to do it in the manual. Havocs have a ball diff so they are very different to other cars. For the glow plug I have been recommended an OS#8 but I use 16% fuel so do not go any hotter than the OS#8.

RE: HAVOC stunt truck
I've had my havoc for about 3 months now and had about 1 1/2 gallons through the engine and it has always been easy to start and has only ever cut out when it has run out of fuel so yes they are consistent.

RE: Some Advice....Schumacher Havoc?
Is it possible to take off the clutch with the engine still on the chassis or does it have to come off? I don't think it is a good idea to bore out the exhaust because it may cause back pressure problems like narn said.
