RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Two quick questions: What FDR do you recommend for a 17.5 Brushless setup? Is there an optional motor plate available to accommodate larger pinion gears or do I have to mod the current one?

RE: losi RX-S Type R / GOOD or bad ????????
I had one and sold it. I am new to on-road and bought this car. The main issue I had with it is tuning, the car has more tuning options then I knew what to do with. If you are experienced with tuning then this car is probably for you. if you are new like me then I would not recommend this car for a new comer. I bought a TC3 and love it. Seems like the TC3 just works.

I started using the traxxas connectors and love them. Very easy to solder and no issue pulling them apart. Just my 2 cents.

To be competitive brushed I will end up spending more money in the long run then if I buy the brushless setup up front.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Looking for brushed motor recommendation. I am currently racing my HT onroad stock. In stock class the truck is dominating so I plan to bump up to mod. I plan on foam tires but the motor is questionable. Currently the stock 15t does pretty well but in mod class I think it will be a shade too slow. Allot of the mod guys are running brushless but it seems they are carrying way too much speed for our small track. In stock class I am turning 19 laps while the mod guys are turning 18-20 laps. If I do not have to spend the money on brushless that would be great, so what is a good brushed motor that the stock esc will drive and is faster than the stocker? I am running 2s lipo.

RE: thats not a project!
Very interested read. I had never really thought about it. My question is why do we even need to label it? I recently purchased a Losi JRX-S Type-R roller. Good shape but needed love. I tore it down, replaced what needed replacing, rebuilt diffs and fully installed all my electronics. I really enjoyed myself and had a blast doing it. Is it a project, build whatever, I had fun. I don't need someone knocking what I did because they feel what they did was better. I say grow up, let people have fun and stop comparing yourself to other people.

RE: Starting out in RC Cars
I am not sure what your local hobby shop situation is but I always tell people that ask, buy what your LHS sells. Makes getting parts way easier and help when you need it. If you buy a car online then go to your LHS to get it fixed chances are they will not have parts and will not be too motivated to help.

Can anyone give me a gearing start point? I am planning on dropping a Novak 3s sport brushless system with 10.5t motor. There doesn't seem to ge too many spur options so I am looking for a good start point for pinions. The track I will be racing is small and very tight with only one straight away allowing for top speed for a few seconds. I am most concerned with heat.

RE: E fire storm or rustler?
I have an e-firestorm, Traxxas Stampede (similar to Rustler) and 3 Evader's. The firestorm is far superior. Build quality, tune ability and the fact that it comes Brushless ready, all metal gear box. I love the Stampede, it is a brute but not a race vehicle. The Evader's are cheap and ok but far from the quality of the HPI, I'm always replacing parts but they are good for the $100 Each I paid for them. The e-firestorm can be had for around $150 without the battery and charger and rules on the race track. Of course I race mine on pavement but it handles and is pretty fast out of the box.

RE: Ball Diff vs. VXL Diff for Rustler?
Yes ball diffs are tunable but from my experience I just do not see the ends justifying the means. The maintenance and tuning can become a chore, one mistake and it melts or fails. My new firestorm has the planetary diff and I love the fire and forget maintenance of it and the simplicity. I stay away.

RE: Called the LHS
I would find another LHS. Both shops near me say "run what you brung" They do not care what you are racing, they will fit you in somewhere. This guys seems like he just wants you to spend money, not a good way to get people into the hobby. I bought my kids Duratrax Evader EXT's for $100 each. They are getting beat easily but are having a great time, learning how to work on cars and improving their driving skills. My Daughter's first race she placed 4th in the Main out of 8. She was the slowest car there but because she kept the rubber side down she did good. It seems several racers have cars they can not handle.

The thing does very well but once the tires warm up it wants to flip on hard turns. I am looking for some basic advice to set this thing up for road. I plan to use Proline road hawgs front and rear, i need some suspension tuning help. 2 - Brushless. There seems to be a million brushless setups out there. Bottom line price is a factor. I have looked at the EZRUNS and the XERUNS, seem very good but tower has the Associated Reedy setup for $114, seems like a good buy. My issue is which one? It comes in four flavors, 3300kV, 3900Kv, 4900Kv and 6100Kv, I just do not know what to get, I am very new to Brushless so the new ratings are confusing. The Brushless e-firestorm comes with a 5700Kv so maybe the 4900Kv? Not sure. I will be running 2S lipo.

Onroad setup
I'm racing my e-firestorm brushed in an onroad series. I raced the truck box stock this weekend and it did pretty good. I am looking for some suspension tips or setup tips. I am already getting road tires. The main issue is that once the tires warm up the truck wants to flip on hard turns. I need help with this. The series is box stock except tires, any rubber no foam.

Just bought one of these to add to my collection. I plan to race it at the LHS parking lot stock class. I really like the truck but have two questions 1 - the brake seems rather weak, can it be adjusted in the ESC to increase it's effectiveness? 2 - the steering seems short, turning radius is wide. Is there any mods to increase the steering? Thanks.

Ok, Bad ESC?
Had my Venom 19T burn out in my Stampeded a few weeks ago. It was about 2 years old so it was due. Replaced it with another Venom 19T. That engine was running really really hot so I started doing the pinion swap but before I could get it right it stopped working. Figured I overheated it and it died. I am now in the process of doing a single (Titan 775) mod on my e-revo and have the two Monster 550's left over. I dropped one into my Stampede but it is just too slow, it is a 14.4 volt motor so it is too be expected. The problem is that only after 10 mins of running it too was smoking hot????? I was using a 19t pinion on it. Even though the engine isnt getting the required voltage can it still overheat from over gearing? I hooked my multi-meter to the ESC and it reads proper, I don't want to drop another motor in if it is just going to burn up. I would have tried to reduce the pinion but the motor will not adjust in the mounts far enough to accommodate a smaller pinion.
