RE: Dual elevator setup spectrum radio
Be sure to run Aux 2 travel adjust to 0 both directions, this will inhibit the switch. Adjust the aux two travel by changing % of mix, this will make both left and right elevators move the same amount. The simple way to set this up is to go to this article on Horizonhobby.com It is amazing how much information Horizon Hobby actually offers. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Articles/Article.aspx?ArticleID=1798

RE: Uneven travel in elevators
I think the problem here may have to do with which mix you are using. With the DX7 only mixes 5 and 6 have matching trim. It is perfectly normal for the travel to not be exactly the same on each servo so you have to adjust it separately. Yes DX7 does this so look closely at your setup, it is not the radio. Also, have you disabled the switch lever connected to the Aux 2? Adjust Aux 2 travel to O both directions. Adjust the mix % to get the travel equal when measured at the elevator. Use mix 5 or 6.

RE: BUG in the DX6i software ?
Just looked at the DX6i D/R Expo menu screen. Are you clicking ib Expo INH then changing that value from "0" to the value you want, say 30% or are you just changing the 100% value that is showing on the screen and adjusting that up or down? The dual rate value (which displays as 100%) will change the servo travel not the expo setting. You have to click the expo to ACTIVE and dial in the expo amount you want. I can see people mis-understanding this. If you are adjusting the wrong numbers it will definetly reduce the servo travel. There is no problem with my transmitter. or any of the many I have checked, they all work normal when adjusted normally. H-

RE: ONEWASP-A STREIGHT SHOOTER
Frankly, I find the MN48 has way more torque than required for the application where you would use it. I have broken gears by bumping the control surface (rudder, you know, it gets bumped). There is a quick fix. JR has the 3421 digital version of the same servo which uses metal gears. I now use the metal gears in my MN48 servos on Aileron and Elevator. For sure they have th power to handle your 60-90 size model so it might be time to upgrade the gears. They are a first choice for many pylon race guys which speaks tto their reliability. H-

RE: 9303 2.4 - throttle cut
Do the "programed failsafe postition" Turn Rx on in bind mode, remove bind plug. Turn TX on in Bind mode with ALL controls in failsafe position (including correct retract switch position) When bound you are complete. Thats all.

RE: 9303 2.4 problems, ?
Just as a reminder because people always seem to forget to mention. The wire chafing issue ONLY applies to X9303 not XP9303. In the 2.4GHz version there is a voltage regulator (?) mounted in the back side of the TX case. When assembled that sharp edged regulator can touch the potentiometer wires and create the chafing. The XP9303 does not have that regulator and subsequently there is not a chance for the wires to rub on it. This is the link to the subject: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Articles/Article.aspx?ArticleID=1822 H-

RE: new sweet V
Hi All, The Sweet Vee will be available in the very near future, final testing has been completed and production models are in process at this time. The models that Gary and Tom built were final samples and only a couple tweaks were needed to complete the final version. It is made by Adrenaline Products (same as the Ninja) and will be available at www.flycontrolline.com along with the Ninja. Currently pricing and initial delivery have not been finalized. Information, pricing and delivery will be posted on the flycontrolline.com site as soon as it is ready. I will make a couple pictures available there in short order. Ordering for delivery can be made at the web site as well. This one looks really good right now and having a model that is a bit different than the current crop out there should provide more interest in Q40. Lets Race!

RE: DX7 Fail safe
Zeeb, Would you please grab a DX7 with AR7000 having Quick Connect (flashing lights) feature and do the programed failsafe just as if it was a X9303. Hold the TX sticks until the RX light comes on solid after the bind. This is the bind method with the bind plug pulled. All entries had to demonstrate and use this at the Aeronautical Engineering competition in both Arizona and Kansas last year (DBF). Sure seems difficult to get some one to actually follow the procedure with the right equipment.

RE: DX7 Fail safe
The basic TWO Bind modes do confuse everyone. When you do the regular bind with the sticks neutral, gear down etc the reciever will send all controls to those positions ONLY on startup. This is helpful when you turn the rx on first so that flaps will stay up and gear down (the positions they were in when bound) But the second NORMAL failsafe, which happens when the model has connected to the TX such as in flight and then loses signal will only send the throttle servo to idle, all other controls will stay in the last commanded position until control is regained. The THIRD bind mode is not covered in the DX7 manual but is covered in the X9303. That is where you remove the bind plug after the lights are flashing (which leaves them flashing) and then turns the TX on in bind mode but with the sticks and switches held in the positions that you want them to go to in case of loss of signal during flight. On DX7 (and surprise DX6i) with quick connect this will preprogram a failsafe mode. Some competitions require controls to go to "crash" positions should the radio lose signal, this accomplishes that function. Just go try these things to learn for yourself, there is no harm done to anything and you will quickly understand what all the bind modes can do for you. But when finished go back and set the specific bind mode you want for your model, its fun and it is simple.

RE: DX7 Fail safe
Zeeb, There is more than one Fail safe in the Spektrum radios. Take your DX7 using the updated AR7000 with Quick Connect feature. Put the RX in Bind mode, remove the bind plug leaving the light flashing, put all controls in weird positions where they might go in a programmed failsafe. Turn on the TX while holding those positions until the bind is complete. Then do your test. Turn on everything, turn off the TX. see what happens. Only works when you have the quick connect programing. I know it gets confusing until you get your mind wrapped around the idea that it does way more than one failsafe. It seems Spektrum provides so many features that other radios can't do that people simply don't believe it. Subsequently it is confusing.

RE: JR data transfer
Hello, Let me point to the reason there is no differnetial in "Wing Type Normal" When you have this case you are using one aileron servo or a Y cord. In which case you can not do differnetial at all unless you offset the pushrod connections using a servo wheel. It takes TWO servos on separate channels (also known as Flaperon wing type) to get differential. Go try putting differential into any model/Tx with one servo or a Y cord and report back please.

RE: JR 12X Data Trans Program compatability
Howard, Actually the program was written before Vista came on the scene. It does work in 32 bit but I have not tried it in a 64 bit machine. That said the FIRST thing to test is the position of the UAC (User Account Control). The default in Vista is "on". As a result it will not let you load programs it doesn't know are safe. Since no one has had this control prior to Vista they seldom check it and instead blame Vista. Turn UAC off and try the install. This will also require a reboot for it to be active. Vista is pretty cool but it is a bit like Spektrum 2.4GHz radios, it is a bit different from the old days and it seems people have a hard time adapting initilally. But it offers some very cool advantages. Check your security settings, it seems somany people are scared that their children will see something awful that the Vista devlopers have installed to many safety nets. Watch for things that require paswords (usually image and video downloads) as they will be blocked as well.

RE: Making spoilers/flaps out of ful span ailerons on Spektrum Dx7??
Actually it is a really basic setup in the DX7, Put right wing servo into aileron slot, left wing servo into AUX1 Set the Wing type to Flaperon, and set the servo reverse swithches to get correct aileron action. Go to the flap system setup and change the values to get the travel you want. The center position default is "0" so the default setting gives you exactly what you describe but I suspect you will want to change the values to get the amount of up and down flap you need. You may need to use negative values to get either the flap or the spoiler depending on your setup. No need to inhibit the switch as you will be using it.

RE: Spektrum DX6i
Gassit, Check a couple things. Check the servo travel settings for throttle. Should be 100%, On AR6200 (like 6100) the first slot is for battery not ESC, second slot is for throttle or ESC, then third if the TX is in heli mode the throttle may be in Throttle hold position. There is nothing wrong with the radio here so I would suggest you bind to a new model memory or reset your model memory before getting concerned. Also check the polarity of your ESC connector. Plug a servo into the throttle slot and see if it is active, if it is then the problem may well be the ESC itself.

RE: Binding without a place to plug binder
Yes, the bind process is different. It is easier, no bind plug required, just check the instruction with the Vapor. The Cessna, Citabria, Ember are not DSM2 and there fore not compatible with your radio. Yes, CX2, MCX, Vapor are DSM2 so they are compatible.

RE: 12x 10x questions
The 12X has it's own version of the USB Data Transfer program. It is not compatible with the JR USB Data Transfer program that is sold for the 9303 and 10X radio versions. It is compatible with Vista, however, like many other programs being installed on Vista you have to turn on/off UAC (user account control). See this article with Vista install note: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Articles/Article.aspx?ArticleID=1827 When the program does load it will load the driver for the USB connection (either version of the program). I really like the program mainly because it is so easy to "build" your model in the PC rather than scrolling through the screens in the TX. It also makes for an infinte number of model memories/setups and you can help friends (with like kind radios) setup models by emailing the data file. Regards,

RE: Spektrum DSM2 Airmod for Futaba
But Dick, You are probably technically correct but could not a simple mix assign the correct servo functions from the transmitter? Maybe not in terms of the throttle?? I don't have the Futaba here to mess with. Looks like it would need to mix Throttle (ch 3) to channel 1. Then Aileron (Ch 1) mix to channel 2 and Elev (ch 2) to Ch 3. The Vapor has the ruddeer function operate from the aileron stick.

RE: There is a catch with the DX-6i!
Jan, Actually to me it seems like it would be a help in a race model! Not one of my models uses even 100% travel for elevator or Aileron and since V tails mix the rudder with elevator it doesn't use 100% there either. I suppose if your linkages are 2" long you might be able to use 100%+ but I haven't seen that. Why did you buy the DX6i for pylon racing?
