RE: Do you have ESM Electric Retracts?
ORIGINAL: oliveDrab I ordered and received an ESM Bearcat ARF (72'' wingspan) and also ordered/received the ESM Electric Retracts for the Bearcat. Using a 6.0 volt 2000 mah Nimh receiver battery I plugged the ESM electric retracts into the retract channel. Both motors are on and I didn't flip the retract switch. Retracts are not moving while the motors are spinning. Tested the retract channel using other servos, works ok. Called Tomas at VQ and he sent me another set. The new set works fine.
How did you get the phone number?

You're making me second guess the DLE 60, that I just bought. That engine looks good! How wide is it from plug tip to tip? Thanks

Thanks Stoat! I believe that the 60 is 1/4 inch too wide for the cowl but if I can manage to cut mine as nice as you did, I'll be fine.

I ordered mine from VQ today! I'm going with a DLE 60 twin. Looks like I'm going to have to cut the cowl like Stoat did. How is VQ's customer service? This is my first order with them.

It's going in an ESM 50cc Corsair. There's a guy on here that has a DLE 111 in the same plane.

Just came in today [:D] It's going in a 50cc Corsair. I believe there are quite a few 50cc cowls that this is not going to fit in.

Thanks Jim, you also answered my retract question. I know which ones not to go with. I would like to try the electric ones. It seems they are much easier to set up. Have they come out with an electric set that does not take 45 seconds to cycle?

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair
ORIGINAL: stoat Hill202, yep the cowling will hold up fine. Nose weight on this kit really depends on the whole setup. I have the 111 in mine, but I also have the elevator servos in the stabs, so that will be different between the 55 and the 111. I also have the full cockpit and pilot, and so she is a bit over weight, but still flys brilliantly. You really don't feel that extra weight

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair
I'm considering this plane. I've read the thread and really appreciate all the information you guys have posted. There seems to be a fairly wide range of options for engines. I am considering the new DLE 60 twin, due out this month. It looks like I'll still need quite a bit of lead in the nose. My question is, how well is the cowl holding up with all that weight glued into it? Is anyone having issues with it, such as stress cracking? I also noticed that one person that used a DLE 55 only had to add a pound of lead to the nose, where as another man using a DLE 111 had to add 10oz to the nose. I'll re-read the thread but I'm really curious as to why the person using a 55, only had to add a pound. You guys did a great job on putting this one together and the info will be a great help to others. Thanks! http://www.chiefaircraft.com/radio-control/engines-turbines/dle/dle-60.html

All good advice above. In regards to radios, I would get as nice as I could afford. Leave yourself room to grow so when you are ready to advance, you'll already have the radio.

RE: A123 Question
I use A123 batteries as well. I just started using them this flying season. I'm very pleased with their performance. They are very reliable. It does not take long at all to figure out how much you use per flight. I barley keep up with it any more. I know, based on my flying style, just when it's time to charge.
