RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Certain size Graupners do turn hard, for example the 12.5x7 three blade turns much harder than the 12x8 three blade. Sorry about the Edit note, I accidently hit the Edit instead of reply.

RE: Super Tigre RTS for G-51 and GS-45
I've got a drawer full of them I bought and do not use. There are 5 in the drawer and I have a 7mm one on a Webra SilverLine .40 that I made out of parts. What you won't like is that little wheel that adjusts the midrange, a little tiny change makes a huge difference, you have to be lucky to hit it just right.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Mike, you might want to try a Graupner 16x8 three blade from Hobby-Lobby, it looks cooler and and bites harder. I supplied a link because they have an absolutely horrible website, you used to be able to click on Graupner Super Nylon props and go right to them. http://www.hobby-lobby.com/16x8_prop_3_blade_403_prd1.htm

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Space, about 10 years ago I had my 1.50 on a H9 Cap 232, I was trying to start it in my back yard on a 30 degree day. I forward flipped it and it kicked back, when the second blade came by it hit my cold finger tips, my finger nails were so cold they shattered like glass, my finger tips were blue and tender for a month. I learned the back flip shortly afterward.

RE: How glow to diesel conversion pays off ?
Bog, you should set the compression pressure for the max rpm which in your case have been about 8,500 rpm with an idle of about 1,500, unless you have really lousy fuel. Never set the compression at part throttle. The full throttle that I'm talking about is the max rpm and the throttle opening at which you get it.

I use a Sullivan DynaTron with a 300 amp garden tractor battery. It starts a Saito 2.20 and SuperTigre 4500 with no problem.

RE: Diesel .50s (mostly)
Are we talking about a TeleMaster or other trainer like plane, the LA .65 could haul quite a load turning a 14x6, if larger 120 sized plane I'd say a SuperTigre 2300 conversion would work well turning an 18x8.

Ernie, I just talked to Bobby Dove at Apex Hobbies in Tazewell, Va. where I bought the .50, it is one the last made. Bobby thinks 2003 or 2004 was the last year for them.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Are there still some Saito .50 fliers out there, I ran mine today for the first time since spring of 2008, I had replaced it with a Saito .62 which I lost in the woods at Andrews AFB and never found. I couldn't remember the best prop for it. Today, I ran a Fuel===WildCat 15% 2/4, 18% all synthetic Plug===Fox Miracle Muffler RCSpecialties TurboHeader Graupner 12x5 rpm===11,450 Bolly 12.5x6=====9.450 Graupner 12x6 10,500, the right one. Believe it or not, it is turning 6,700 in the picture, 1st time I ever caught a turning prop in a still.

Thanks Derrick, I don't know at this point but will surely find out. Irvines are a mixture of metric and English, you never know which a given engine will have.

RE: Irvine 20
Chris, it is a standard 6x32 grub screw that accepts a 1/16th inch hex wrench. The length is approx 3/16th inch but a 1/4" or 5/16" would work just fine.

The .82 will turn an APC 14x6 nearly as fast as a .91. I have both but don not have a side by side picture.

RE: Saito expected RPM range
It's good that you have it in a test stand, I don't believe you've reached the peak. Lock the throttle at full open and using a tachometer lean the high speed needle one click at a time spacing the leanings one or two seconds apart. At some point one of the clicks will not change anything and the next one will slow the engine about 50 rpm, one click rich from there is the peak. This is a good time to reduce the throttle opening to idle and fine tune the LS needle while the HS needle is still set at the peak. By leaning the LS needle a little you can find out if your 2,100 rpm idle is from an actual low throttle setting or from a lousy mixture.
