RE: Who can connect their eyecam RX directly into a DV camcorder?
I got lucky, only have 1 DV Camera and it worked right off the bat. It is a Sony TRV-11 if I recall correctly.

RE: Spectrolutions Repair
No doubt, I have ordered motors from them, but being as they don't sell the mounts and that seems to be the weakest link, it kinda sucks! But got delivery quick etc, was very pleased. Would do much more business with them if they carried everything. Not quite sure about HOPING for a repair though hehe. But reading some of the recent posts about gyro failures, I think I know what happened to mine now. When I was flying and goofing off, I did push it to the extreme and put it in a top spin just for the fun of it, cuz I could at that altitude, no way can I do that lower hehe, I loose orientation too quickly hehe. But pushing it that hard I guess seems to be what caused my failure. It flew fine after crashing, but the next day is when it acted up, guess it was still in shock the previous night! :) Reading some of the other posts like from Koop etc, it seems that the gyros are kinda crappy and can't handle the limits. Kinda sucks, wish they would come out with better gyros.

RE: Portable DVR?
No, but let me know how it works out, I am interested in portable solution like that, and not too costly. I have a nice DV Cam with screen and all, but would be nice to be even smaller and compress on the fly.

RE: Spectrolutions Repair
Well surprisingly enough, I got my board today. Figured tomorrow at the soonest, and most likely Monday, so very thrilled. Haven't truly flown it hardcore yet but a quick test flight and either I had severe problems with the gyros from the get go, and sending in for repair fixed it all, OR these new rotors totally rock. But I swear the DF has never flown more stable. Very smooth, hovers very nicely etc. My guess is I had issues from launch, and maybe that is why my gyros went out so quick. Keep in mind I ordered mine right after the Discovery Channel airing and the Popular Science ad, so maybe they rushed it out the door and it had issues. But it flies very smooth now. Very happy. Thanks Mike!

RE: RCToys.com?
It would be my guess, they know it is hosed, and only fix it when asked. It has been that way for too long now. Out of 3 orders from them, only 1 of them that claimed free shipping, was free shipping. The others were outrageous. I can't afford the overnight crap, that is just ridiculous. My guess is, that it is calculating shipping per item, not for a grand total. It really does suck. I think we need to push for Mike at Spectrolutions to stock more parts. I asked him why he didn't carry some parts, and he claims it is cuz they don't get many parts orders. So if we can all start emailing him and requesting parts maybe he will start stocking them all, and if we start placing our orders through him, he will see the demand. I plan on ordering everything from him that he caries. Shipping is so much more reasonable and so much faster. The 15 day crap SUCKS if you ask me.

Spectrolutions Repair
Welp, just found out my board has finally been repaired and is on its way back to me. They said they replaced all 4 gyros. Happy they found the problem, but scared now that they had to be replaced when I don't feel my crash was that bad and it flew ok the night after the crash. But regardless hopefully it was a fluke and all will be well now. So I will be rejoining the ranks again soon. Was hoping for this weekend but I guess it will probably be Monday most likely before I get it back. Can't wait to put my lights on! :)

RE: Surging Motor?
Welp, dunno, I am guessing it is something on the board, like Madean suggested or something else. I did the goose, only thing I saw was the front rotor stopped before the rest but did spin a few times before doing so, further inspection showed the shaft of the motor bent a little. So took care of that. But all the rest came down fine. Full power it seems to do ok, but slight power it just can't take it, it surges the right rotor and cause the heli to almost flip while on the ground. I took off the main gear of the front and the right side and swapped them, to rule out the bearings, and problem still stayed on right side. So guessing that isn't the issue. So dunno what else to try. So I guess I will be sending into Spectro, and see what the problem is. Just bugs the hell out of me, cuz I really haven't had any bad crashes besides the one, and it seriously sounds much lighter than any of the ones some have had and came out clean hehe. And the fact that after my crash I flew fine. It wasn't till the next day that it started doing this. Ohh well. Guess I will go for my first repair hehe. Will be without my new DF for a bit now, that really bites. Thanks to all that replied. Will let ya know what the prob was, if they let me know! :)

RE: Surging Motor?
Forgot bout the bearings, Hind, thanks will check them out. It is surging like yours was, that is why I changed the motors, but since the prob is sticking to the 1 side, it very well could be the bearing, or I can hope so lol. Will look at em, try the goose test etc again, only been trying whily holding the heli in the air by the base plate. And see what happens, might even go as far as swapping the gear and bearing with another section to see if the prob moves. Of course as you know, if you replace a motor mount or take it off to replace frame parts etc, then you have to pull the gear and bearing off the motor mount, so maybe it worked fine that night, but got hung up over night or something. Will let ya know my results. Just don't wanna have to send the board in yet lol, I have far less flying time than the rest of you and far less drastic crashes lmao, will be dissapointed if I am the unfortunate one that takes little damage and has to repair lmao. Thanks again for the ideas.

RE: Surging Motor?
Actually Sky, yes I have done that when outside testing, but just testing now indoors with TI off, and still do that out of habit, but don't think it is required indoors. But I have been doing so yes. Bad news to hear madean hehe. But makes sense being as nothing else seems to be working. Sucks cuz I don't wanna be without it hehe. Will wait for some more comments, and maybe have to send it off Monday. BAH.

RE: Pictures of the Full New SAVS unit
Very nice, so it came with all the cases and all huh? I have a hard time convincing myself to spend $2500 for that lmao, but it is very slick, and I am very addicted to the DF. But I also have to take into account, I have 4 kids that like to eat lmao. It is hard to justify all that cost for something that is pure enjoyment hehe. Who knows though, someday maybe hehe. For now I guess I will just stick with what I got and keep at it till I can justify it lmao. But very nice looking setup. Let me know how much better the reciever and the camera mount works. I am still thinking bout sending my camera to DFI to have put in the new camera mount, at least I can do that much hehe.

RE: When can you use TI?
Someone else can correct me if I am wrong! But in what little experience I have so far, Ti is nice yes, but it won't flat out fly the heli for you, so you still have to maintain it whether you have Ti or not. What Ti does for you is if you get in a pinch and are losing control, if you let go of the stick it will bring you back to a level, but if wind is blowing or gravity is already set in motion, you are still going to drift etc. So it isn't going to keep that from happening. With 4 rotors, the DF flies pretty smooth anyways, well just don't watch me fly, smooth probably isn't a good word for that! :) But all in all it isn't hard to keep level etc without Ti on due to the 4 rotors. So you won't notice a major difference. I see where Ti comes in handy the most is, for when you are using the camera to take video. That way you are staying as level as possible as you fly around, making your video a little more watchable, AGAIN don't watch my videos! :) Noob in action here!

RE: DF Video Connections
Thanks for the link. I have a nice Sony DV and it seemed to do fine on my first real video, but am looking for a way to port straight to laptop, I am sure there is a way to go from the firewire port to the laptop and pass the video that way, but just after all the different ideas!

Well you are a tad more devoted than me lmao, I don't forsee spending $10k on it lol. But bought me a book on Premiere Pro today lmao, and will goof more with it, I have no doubts my home pc will do much better it is a Dual Core 4800+ AMD 64 hehe. Would be nice to do it portably though. So will def play with settings and see what can be done.

RE: Your most dreaded DF Repair?
Possible Sky, but being as it flew fine last night and all, and nothing changed except Sun UP! :) But I am gonna check everything out, bought a couple of Blade CP motors today, since I am out of town hehe, will try and change out the pinion gear hehe, but in case it is the motor. Don't see any magnets so hoping all is good there.

RE: Video Stab Software IS needed... who uses what?
Agreed on the quality of the output with the 2d3, but in my opinion it is way worth a loss of quality with how much more stable it makes it. Thanks for the tip, will check the settings. Just didn't wanna mess with it too much but 3-4 hours for 5-6 min of video SUCKS hehe. But my system at home should do much better. I got tired of waiting so I stopped it, and have an output but just not the full video, might do my edits and make a make shift video again and put it up for you guys to laugh at hehe!

RE: Your most dreaded DF Repair?
I understand, actually had to do something similar yesterday hehe. Flew great for awhile but got too far out and couldn't tell orientation and dunno if it was battery low or overcompensating or what but took a hard fall from bout 100' up. Luckily into some hay hehe. Anyways broke one of the frame rods, one of the stiffener rods, and sheared a nylon screw. But as you had to do, had to unsolder the motor, pull all of it off, wires and all to re-run through a new one. All in all it worked fine after that. That was yesterday, but today dunno what the deal is, but having probs with 1 of the motors or something. Hopefully not a gyro, but kinda acting like Hind's did, so need to go back and read his thread again. But it surges on 1 side pretty bad unless I heavily compensate with my roll, and my turning to the right isn't hardly going. So not quite sure what is the deal being as it flew fine last night. And haven't done anything since. So very strange. But regardless, I know your pain on unsoldering and wire and all, but wasn't too bad luckily. Coulda been much worse hehe.

RE: Video Stab Software IS needed... who uses what?
I already had Premiere Pro, so I am trying that, but am completely open to suggestions. Will check out the tutorial and see if it tells me anything different. But here are the steps I am doing. Start a new Project Capture my Video I created a 2nd Sequence as per the Premiere tutorial for adding effects. I dragged my video down to the timeline under Video 1 on the 2nd Sequence I then dragged the 2d3 effect down to the video on the timeline Then I go back to the first sequence and drage the 2nd down to the timeline. And then I Extract it to an AVI. AND IT IS SLOW! I am running it on my laptop which is a Pentium M 2.2G. With an NVIDIA GF Ultra 6800. 2 gig RAM. I guess I am gonna have to do this on my main system at home hehe. Cuz a 6 minute clip is taking almost 4 hours it says to render. That bout right? Or am I doing something wrong. What is it you are using to do your video? And if you don't mind the steps. Thanks
