RE: JETPOWER 2012 products WOW !
The new Weatronic transmitter has a feature that really impressed me. The throttle stick can be easily set by the user so that the throttle function operates from 30% to 100% of the sticks movement and as the stick is pulled back to flight idle it stops on the detente at 30% travel, if the user then pulls back against the 30% detente the travel from 30% to 0% is against a spring and is the brake function, this will be superb if a proprtional brake is fitted to the model. If other Tx manufacturers could offer this feature as a modification to existing sets that would be the icing on the cake ! Ian B

RE: Airworld hawk flap hinge help
I looked at Dave Gladwins Airworld Hawk recently as he removed the active hinging in favour of a scale hinge and it sold me so thats what I'm doing on mine, as well as the thin flap addition onto the leading edge of the main flap. Ian B

RE: IB...Trouser Activity detected in the South!
Hi Dick, looking superb, thats Viagra with a turbine, and can't wait to see this one fly, I can see I'll have to move back down to the south and rejoin Wroughton, I feel I'm missing out up here, by the way, we saved you some cake at Marham, but someone filched the last slice, no names no pack drill. RE: Elvington Jet meet
What a great weekend that was, I must thank the Elvington and JMA Posse for the use of a superb site and hospitality, looking forward to next year now ! The standard of flying was very impressive and Ali's A-10 and Mirage 2000 were definately in the full trouser activity class [8D]. Geoff Whites Hunter and UL flights were showstoppers, my guest on Sunday was my Brother-in-law once removed and he was speechless ( always thought an impossibility for a Yorkshireman ) at the Hunters and A-10's flights, well done all. RE: Composite Arf......Problem SOLVED
I purchased a CARF Ultra Flash last year and when it arrived at my home I inspected the box for visible damage, there was none so I accepted it from the courier who said I had 24 hours to report any damage caused by shipping found after I had opened the box. I opened the box after the courier had left and found a large crease running chordwise three inches from the wingtip, I initially thought that CARF had sent out a damaged wing and wasn't impressed to say the least so I got on the phone to the UK Rep who requested photos of the damage and said it was highly doubtful CARF would send out a damaged model and their quality control was very good. After e-mails between the Rep and CARF it was agreed I could have a discount if I accepted the damage as was as it was "repairable" or I could have a brand new model. I went for the new model and as I lived a half hours drive from the Reps premises offered to return the model in its box, we looked at the damage and he agreed it was not acceptable, we then realised how the damage was caused, the wing is held firmly in the box by two shaped polystyrene formers which prevent vertical movement but there was no packing to prevent the wing shifting laterally and it became apparent that the box had been dropped on its end allowing the unrestained wing to impact on its wingtip causing the crease and damage, I have photos but this site is such a pain in the arse to post pictures I gave up posting a couple of years ago. Anyway, I got a new model, no further shipping charges, I wouldn't have paid them anyway, CARF were able to recover their costs from the shippers and hopefully modified the wing retention packing in future boxes. The UK Rep was very helpful and in spite of his "no crow bro" for the Ultra Flash, it does land much better with crow, I have tried both and crow IS needed on the Uf ! Sorry Dave ! [:D] Ian B

Hi All, looks like you had a good session there, I'm in Florida at the moment till the end of the month and have just visited Top Gun, could have done with your expertise Lozza to shoot some piccys of the fine jets there, hooked up with Ali who sorted out a pit pass, thanks Al [;)], I reckon had Geoff had the Hunter there he would have wiped the floor ! RE: 'KEROSENE OVER WITTERING' APRIL 28/29 2012
I bailed out because of the cold more than the wet, the wind made it freezing. Siberia with grass is what they say about that part of the sceptered isle. Still, got sunny Florida to go to on Wednesday for a few weeks [:D] The new jet will have to wait till I get back to test fly. Ian B

RE: Nose Wheel Braking
I used n/w braking on my Venom, its effective enough, just set the braking action so it won't lock up the wheel and it will slow nicely on the landing run out and halt the model while taxying. Ian B

RE: A few pics from Wroughton
Guys, I think that was my last flying session as a club member at Wroughton, been a member since 1989 and have seen ducted fans, then Ian Stockdale with the first JPX in the country, all the way from the early turbines to what we have today. Fantastic ! Miss Management will take orders for the cakes and post them down if you all get withdrawal symptoms, I somehow cannot see my son Chris baking ! Anyhow, off to pastures new in the frozen north, house contracts exchanged and I hear the rumble in the far distance of the removals van........see you all at the JMA events and Classic Jets and expect an invite to fly as a guest at Wroughton when down in the softy south. Au Revoir all. Ian Bailey

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
I found the Behotec air tank I was supplied with was too large to fit into the nose without hacking sizeable chunks out of the front formers so I installed two Robart tanks taped together and wrapped in thin foam. These fitted into the nose section nicely and the foam holds them in securely. Ian B

Great day and superb company, Gloria says she'll have to start charging for the cakes, it costs me a weeks washing up but there are fringe benefits. Heres a link to some video I did, still trying to find a suitable place on the airframe to get the best mix of air and ground. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG27Piztgf0 Dick and the Wroughton Club are to be thanked for allowing a special day to be celebrated. RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Wick a little thin cyano where the damaged live hinge ends along the hinge for about an inch, this will stop the damage travelling further. After the cyano has gone off the aileron can be raised and lowered "cracking" the hinge and it should be as good as new. Ian B

RE: Mick Reeves Hunter
Hi Harry, the rudder servo is fitted directly under the rudder with the output shaft on the hinge line. A servo output arm is glued and screwed to the underside of the rudder and drops directly into the servo output shaft when fitted. Not tricky to fit and align and very positive and slop free. One of those "why didn't I think of that" methods ! Ian B

RE: Mick Reeves Hunter
There is nothing wrong in the method of driving the rudder direct from the servo output shaft that MR shows on his plans for the Hunter, same for the way the elevators are driven. In fact they both provide slop free linkages, I've put two together now and there is no way I'd mount the servos externally or even buried into the tailplane, absolute sacrelige ! Regarding the supplied single wall pipe, there are many flying and I'm not aware of any issues to date. Ian B
