RE: How to get your plane outta of a tree ?
Last time this happened to me my plane was stuck up high in a pine tree. I found a local tree trimming crew and paid one of their climbers $50.00 to go up and get my plane. It came back with no more damage and he was happy to get the cash.

RE: What goes up must come down, right?
Find a local tree trimming crew and see if one of their climbers would get it down for you. This happened to me with a larger trainer I had once and I paid a guy from a tree trimming crew $50.00 and he went up a very large pine tree and got my plane down in just a few minutes.

RE: Painting a prop
I add yellow to all of my prop tips for safety reasons. I just use a small brush and some testors or other model paint. I've never had a problem with balance to flaking and it is easy to touch up the paint if needed.

RE: Hobbyzone Champ vs. Hobby Lobby Micro Stik
I have the champ and it is a great backyard, school yard flier, durable and easy to repair if needed. If you want something with Ailerons, you might try the Parkzone T-28, just a little faster than the Champ, but comes with Ailerons and is BNF. IndyPark Flyer

RE: Corona receivers
I've used the 4 channel version without a problem. I used it mostly on small foamies, but I didn't have any problems with range or the receiver and transmitter losing contact. Indy Park Flyer

RE: Champ help
From what I can see in your pictures, it looks like you may have a crack where the horizontal stabilizer, and the vertical stabilizer meet, causing the verticle stabilizer to lean to the right. This type of problem can not be fixed with the trim buttons on the transmitter. Look closely on the right side of the verticle stabilizer where the verticle and horizontal stabilizer meet and see if there is a gap, or crack at that point. If there is, move the verticle stabilizer with your hand until it is centered and not leaning and fill in the crack or gap with a drop or two of foam-safe CA. I had to do this to my champ, but I bought it used from someone so I attributed the lean to some hard flying before I got it.

RE: is there a plane similar to Sig four star 60
If you want an ARF that is similar to the Tiger 60 and you don't want to wait, you might try this http://www.texasrcplanes.com/lonestar50lw.html. The lonestar is basically a Tiger II or Tiger 60 under a different name. I have an older version called the Explorer L from this same company. They are great to work with and provide good customer service. Indy Park Flyer

RE: flight sims?
I believe FMS stands for Free Model Simulator, but I'm not sure. I've been using FMS for years. The graphics are ok, and there are a lot of planes available from other sites for download. Its a good, free. simulator.

RE: hobbyking experience?
I've been very happy with my experience. In fact, I just placed a new order on Monday. I usually receive my orders within 2 1/2 to 3 weeks and thats using economy shipping. I haven't had any experience with their customer service, but I know several other people from my club buy from hobby king as well.

RE: RADIO PROBLEMS
Do you have the DIY module, or the module you just plug in to the back of the 8103? This may sound obvious, but have you tried going back to a 72mhz setup on the radio is question just to determine if the problem is in the radio or the module? Maybe Horizon would take the radio without the Corona module installed if the problem is not in the module.

Harry, you can find the pipe insulation at any hardware store in the pipe fittng area. I buy mine from either Lowes or Menards. They are usually 2 0r 3 bucks at the most. Indy Park Flyer

RE: Need plans for plane storage rack
I use two of the slotted shelf bars, plus the shelf supports. You can get them at Lowes, Mendards, or Home Depot. They are easy to install and adjusable. I use foam rubber pipe insulation to cover the shelf supports so they don't damage the planes. Total cost was less that $20.00. Indy Park Flyer

RE: Winter build
I have both the TT .46 pro and the Evolution trainer .45 that came on my Alpha 40 (RIP). I love the TT .46. It is dependable, and easy to start. The Evolution can be a little harder to start, but it is also a reliable engine. I've never removed the limiters, as has been suggested, and I've never really had a problem. If I had to choose, I would but a Thunder Tiger engine over any other brand, but thats my opinion, I have only been in this hobby for three years so I don't have as much experience as some of the people who have responded to this post.

RE: Plane in tree
Same thing happened to me in June. I ended up talking to a guy who climbs trees for a local tree trimming company. He charged me $50.00 to go up a large pine tree and get my plane down. My plane was lodged in a way that made it impossible to just fall out in a high wind or by throwing something at it, it was in the tree for 2 weeks through 2 major thunder storms before it was recovered, just make sure you talk to one of the tree trimmers, and not the company. The company will charge you more, and the emplyee will usually do the work on his off time for much less.

RE: Tiger II and UltraStick Clones
I have the previous version of the lonestar, the Explorer L. The plane flies great with no bad habits. it looks and flies like a Tiger. The company is also great with excellent customer service. When I got my first plane, someone had stepped on the box in shipping. I called the company and they shipped me a new one the next day. When I asked what to do with the damaged one, he told me unless the shipping company wanted it, I could keep it, so I had a plane for parts, which was a good thing since I crashed the original and had to build the back up. I regularly go to the Texas RC Planes site and I would buy from them again.

RE: Help with 46 evolution by hanger 9
opjose, I understand he was able to get the engine to start and run. I had the exact same symptoms with my Evo 46, the engine would start and run, but would only idle for a short time, and the engine would stop if I tried to increase the throttle. The problem as diagnosed and repaired by horizxon was a bad rear bering. Once the bering was replaced, the engine ran great and continues to run great 3 years later. I was just suggesting maybe a call to the Horizon Hobby techs would be helpful.

RE: Help with 46 evolution by hanger 9
I had a similar problem with the Evolution 46 trainer engine that was in my Alpha 40. I bought it used and the engine had not been run in a few years. When I talked to the techs at Horizon Hobby they said it was bad berings. I sent them the engine and they replaced the berings and sent it back in a week. I don't remember the cost, but it was cheaper than a new engine and I haven't had any problems since. They sent the old berings when they sent back the engine, and you could cleary see I needed the new berings.

RE: Charger for 4.8v 1100 mah receiver pack
I have both the Hobbico Quick Field Charger MKII and the Accucel 6. In my opinion, the Accucel 6 is the better charger. The Accucel 6 has a built in balancer for Lipos and charging and discharging options for Nicad, Nimh, Lipos Lifos and other batteries that the MKII just doesn't offer. I had to purchase a seperate discharger before I got the Accucel 6, and now that discharger is just a backup. If you want to purchase a good all purpose charger, I would go with the Accucel 6.

RE: Suitable for second plane?
Jimmyjames, Thanks for the advice. I have actually been flying a Tiger II knock off from Texas RC Planes for 2 years now. I have a Kyosho Cap 232 in my hangar that I hope to begin flying this year. My job kept me from the field most of last year, so I didn't get as much stick time as I needed to move to the Cap. The guys at my field are very helpful and the advice I have recieved has been very good in most cases, so that is why I suggested LNEWQBAN talk to his club memebers to help him decide on a second plane. One of my club members even sold me the Cap 232, with a TT .46 engine for $50.00. All I had to do is add the servos, reciever, and battery.
