power issue?
thought i had a power problem with my battery but i tested it and everything is ok. today i setup as normal and had a fly about for anout 3 mins, low level. power cut, i was only about 5 inchs off the ground so no damage. no leds on. iv cchanged the fuse too. i turned it all off and back, all ok. but when i apply throttle the power cuts and leds go out, then the leds return on after about 5 sec's. it does this every time. tested battery again - all was ok. what could be the prob?

RE: IV Ti has gone bonkers
TI should never be used indoors. heat signatures from radiators etc will send your DF out of controll. never use ti indoors! the capacitors dampen out the FM singnals! very essential! i managed to grab a pack of 50 off ebay for about £1
cracked one of the motor-mounted capacitors

sure the capacitor is not the cause of the problem
i would replace the cap! you can never be sure.if you cracked it, then replace it!
Then today after an incredibly light nudge into a wall indoors at a height of about 6 inches (barely enough to fold the rotors back), the DF can't keep it's sh*t together.
also i would have a look at the gyros and also the TI sensors! .. are they alined and paralelle to the main board!?

RE: NEW MAIN ROTOR BLADES
hi. i found the blades on ebay! i have done a few flights with these blades but i found that they dont produce enough lift and flight times were cut by about 5-6 mins. i did try installing a tilted centre piece to give them more of an angle but it still drained the power. although they do look cool, i wouldnt advise them. plus they shatter easier! [:(] thanks.

RE: IV Ti has gone bonkers
thats true. the gyros will course the irratic behaviour and also if the motors sustained damage. i would try to bench test the unit and see if you can figure out a solution. have you looked at the wire connections and the magnets. sometimes they slip and need pushing up. sometimes its the simple things that need looking at first. good luck

RE: IV Ti has gone bonkers
The capacitors filter out the RF noise created by the motors. Without them you risk a serious crash caused by the interference. I would not fly the DF with even the smallest crack! They are too cheap to risk a crash by not using them. i have done some research on capacitors as i to needed to replace mine due to a crash and found the following info on the ones used on the DF: 10nF Ceramic Disc Capacitor * For general purpose applications. * 50Vdc max working voltage. * 5mm lead pitch. * High dielectric constant ceramic. * -20% +80% standard tolerance. * -25 deg +80 deg temperature rating. must be ceramic and no less than 12vdc. i replaced all my caps with these. i got them from ebay for about £2 for a pack of 50! however i would still look at anyother connection on the board cos the problems you have could be down to more than one issue. you still have to think about "what made the fuse blow mid air"??!

protect the motors against hard landings (idea)
after destroying a few capacitors and the cans on the motors i have added these training rods to help protect the motors against hard landings. RE: capacitor type? novice question.
i know that If you put 12 volt capacitor into a 24 volt circuit, all you will get out is 12 volts. but what would be the out come of putting a 24 volt cap on a 12 volt circuit? would this work on the DF motors as i have loads of them lying about.

NEW MAIN ROTOR BLADES
I have found a cheaper, replacement for the DF blades! These durable rotors have better strength and also greatly increase performance. With a thicker design and construction make these rotors resistant to striking the airframe which often results in damage to the airframe and rotor. Here is an image of the current DF Blades: DFi have done very well with these rotors and are far more better than the standard ones but i am looking to improve them further! Here is the new set of rotors i have on order: * Length from mounting point to tip 153mm * Width at widest point 24.5mm * Width at narrowest point 13.50mm * Mounting hole width 2mm * Thickness at mounting point 1mm These rotors have a newly designed airfoil and increased surface area to provide more lift and efficiency. They also have less flexiblity which result in crisper, precise throttle response. Once i have recieved them and made a centre cross joint to join the two halfs i'll post a review. i know even without having them in my hand that i will maybe have to mod the length but all will come into light..

Hi all In regards to the Ceramic Motor Capacitor for filtering electrical noise that are currently issue with the Draganflyer v ti. SKU: DF-MOTORCAP I am looking for the specifacations on these, and would very much apreciate your help in finding out the following.. Lead Pitch, Capacitance Tolerance, Voltage, Capacitance, and Manufacturer. Any information you can give me would be helpful. Ragards, Jonny Poole.

brushed/brushless??
quite new to RC but everyone starts somewhere, hay! i am looking to convert my Draganflyer v ti to brushless and i know that the process is not like changing a light bulb! i understand the mechanical difference between both types of motors but...my question is... why cant a brushed motor just be replaced with a brushless one? i see a few people moding thier boards add things and changing the wires but why?

RE: New Brushless DF Board Soon Available !!
i am sorta new to Draganflyer and already i want to convert to brushless. As im not UP with Terms or anything to do with custom electronics i have a few questions.. i think i have the new board as i have the output pins on it, although they are like this: In Post #: 24
You only see two black wires because I chose to connect two motors to each of these wires rather than trying to solder all four to the same pad. (and before you ask, that round white/black coil on the leg of the fuse is the current pickup coil for the Eagletree recording box.)
What is the importance of this step? i have already started designing a new fram using longer and thicker carbon rods salvaged from Tent inserts. would i be right in thinking i can just disconnect the old original wire harness, motors, etc and solder pins into these holes and attach Speed controllers and BL motors and it will fly?

thank you. i knew it had something to do with noise but never realised it could caurse interference. im not flying it anyway. the capacitor has completely snaped in half. Woops! :( am thinking of convertingto brushless but i am researching it first to see if i can afford it and if i can get the parts cheaper. i am following the conversions posted on this forum and really excited about seeing some new vids. thanks again. jonny uk.

RE: What The.... Noooooooo!
Interesting thread! well i may as well add to the unfortunate problems that are happening. well first ill start by saying i was fortunate to not completely damage mine. i only broke one of the risers! it was a clear day, but not too hot! i was in a nicely cut, green field, no wind and wearing non high static cloths. (no preference to colour here) well i started off with normal start up, with TI active and a FULL battery in TX and DF. after a gentle hover for about 15-20 seconds i ascended about 10ft while in a forward direction. I must have travelled about 100ft away from me still at 10ft up. When… … it fell from the sky! It flipped over to the left, very fast! It didn’t seem to throttle up on the right side to course the flip but it was as if the left rotor just stopped. After inspecting the rig I checked the whole thing over and found nothing wrong apart from the broken riser from the crash. The motors were find and magnets hadn’t slipped and non solder was cracked. I didn’t fly it into a shadow or over water or anything that could confuse the TI I have flown it higher and further since and its been fine. Maybe TI could have faulted, or it’s a design fault! (I KNOW WERE I WOULD PUT MY MONEY)

RE: SERVICE AT DRAGANFLY INNOVATIONS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree! I cannot share these bad experience that some of DF customers have had. I ordered the DF v Ti and I had an extremely fast delivery of 2days (I may have been lucky, I don’t know) but I too live in the UK and for me the only thing that sucks was the postage! Also C.O.D (cash on delivery) from UPS didn’t make me feel any better! I have had an excellent response from Dfi, and I find that their customer service has been nothing but spot on! I had a problem with my transmitter and I now have a replacement on its way! No RMA, No Postage costs, and No Waiting for a Return. These guys are on the ball and I hope their great service continues! thanks CORY. Jonny Poole UK - Cambridge - no connection to David Poole, i think?!
