New Patent Pending Propeller Available for Purchase!!
The new Revolutionary Scythe Propeller is available for purchase! We have sold numerous props (and shipped out) both in the USA and overseas. We gave our subscribers to our website notification first. Due to the popularity and positive feedback, we are already in talks for another size (but that does take some time) with our manufacturer. The two best ways to keep track of what is going on is to subscribe to the website http://revolutionaryprops.com/ or better is to like us on facebook (key word rp designs) where we will update as things change and people can post reviews, feedback, etc.. Also, we will be at the OK Sooner Squadron Fun Fly this weekend with some props available for purchase as well! Hope to see you there!

RE: Manufacturer Needed for Patent Pending Product....
My initial prototype would be a 23" prop so that I could use it on my 50CC motor for testing and comparison to existing designs. Although I have talked to a few machine shops, unless they are particularly familiar with how to work with carbon fiber they don't seem to know what to do. In addition, composite materials are one of the few items I am not particularly familiar with myself so having a manufacturer with experience in this area would be extremely helpful.

Manufacturer Needed for Patent Pending Product....
I have been working for some time on a propeller design that will increase lift and efficiency with reduced drag. I have recently obtained patent pending status for the design and am now ready to produce a prototype for real world testing before going to market. One of the key needs in the design is that the propeller be very strong yet light, therefore the propeller will need to be constructed out of carbon fiber and have a hollow structure to it in order to keep it light so the spool rate of the motor is not slowed. I know that this method of construction for the propeller is not new to this industry and there are props constructed this way. So, for those in the know, I am needing to contact a manufacturer, not a distributor, that can produce a prototype, constructed in this way, and could produce the propeller once we are ready to go to market. If anyone has contact info for manufacturers who may be able to help us please PM me with thier info. I can supply the design in 3d CAD format so all the design work has be done regarding what the finished product should be like. This should make it easy to manufacture relatively quickly and my partner and I are ready to move forward and have a lot of plans in place that we cannot move forward with until we have a prototype and start moving towards full production. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

RE: STAR WARS Tie-Fighter Interceptor Build?
That is awesome! I hope you can get some video soon! I can't wait to see that thing in action. You could fly strafing runs on something and edit the video with it shooting some lasers!

RE: STAR WARS Tie-Fighter Interceptor Build?
SWEET!!! That looks awesome! I think the easiest thing would be to make a dome out of flat foam circles/rings glued together and hollowed out as already mentioned. I cant wait to see it when its done!

RE: Design for class project
BMatthews- I think you are missing the point of the project. Its not about success or failure but research, design, and problem solving. I once had to make a craft that could sink to the bottom of a tank and then return to the top with nothing but baking soda. He had done the project for a couple of years and never had a success. I was the first to have one succeed! In fact, the big point is to fail so they can learn how to collect info and apply what they learn. If it was easy and everyone succeed then nothing is learned.

RE: STAR WARS Tie-Fighter Interceptor Build?
That is insanely cool! You might try just running two carbon rods with clear covering between them to make the front stabilizer. This would be plenty strong and would be even harder to seen in flight. Also, I think the hollowed out ball would work just fine! Keep us updated!

RE: build this in depron?
This should help....and if he can do that you can do what you want easily. [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=259789&page=3&pp=15]Link[/link] Here is how to make the airfoil wings quick and easy. Just glue the curved tips together and sand them a bit. Recently, I made a wing with the end curved back for aerodynamic purposes and I cut both the top and bottom of the wing out together with them attached at the leading edge. Paint it first and then scared the leading edge on the inside. Put clear packing tape on the outside of the leading edge and put a square balsa rod through the center. Bend the leading edge to where the wings glues to the top and bottom of the rod and glue the trailing edge together. The curved part will still be open so glue it together and sand the edges so they are even. Quick and easy. I would have put a picture but I don't have it with me now. I think you will get the idea.

Are you familiar with how to make a airfoiled wing with foam without making all the spars and such necessary for balsa and covering?

RE: build this in depron?
Apsolutely, you could build it with foam and I would think it would be lighter as well. I think you should go for it. I have seen amazing scale aircraft such as a b-25 which was replicated using the actually full scale plans. If it can be done in balsa it can be done in foam and probably faster too as you can cut the foam faster.

RE: lithium polymer battery problems
Flypaper 2 is on it. I had the exact same problem and got a watt meter bought more batteries thinking the batteries were the problem but it all came back to the ESC. If it was just the power from the battery droping to low then you should only loose power to the motor (unless you have it set for a soft shutdown on a programable ESC) but should not loose power to the servos unless the ESC is shutting down due to overheating. Get an ESC that is rated for LIPO's and your setup.

RE: reason # 84 why i crashed my plane
Sorry but the charged particles from a CME takes longer than 8 minutes to reach the earth. It takes light 8 minutes to reach earth but these particle do not travel at the speed of light and can take a couple days to reach earth and effect us. Although the effects of CMEs are strong enough to effect your radio and even cause huge blackouts I don't think the timing was quite right in this case. You will have to find satelite data which gives the time a CME encountered the earth for starters. I must say though, very creative attempt to explain the problem. [;)]

RE: E-flite Ultimate FX
The shafts are very strong on the outrunners and can be replaced if need be, I personally would never have anything to do with a gearbox but thats just me. I have done a full throttle nose in on mine and it didn't hurt it at all. Also, the flat wings are lighter and are actually better for high alpha flight. Finally, I would stick with one servo for the ailerons to keep the weight down. I don't see any reason to use more that necessary. I don't know if it will handle wind better that the typhoon but I didn't have any problem in high winds with my bipe. I have actually landed with the wings level and the airplane getting blown backwards it was so windy. I had to keep the throttle up so I could go pick it up without it blowing away. [:D]

RE: Dave Brown on FAI... F3A in particular
I don't know what this whole bush topic is about but as for the being american citizens in order to compete on the USA team......I think about this: What sense does it make that someone can live in the USA and train in the USA and compete on our teams and train in our facilities and on our equipment and live on our money and learn from our trainers and blah blah blah.......but will compete in the olympics for some other country when they have lived thier whole lives here and don't even return to the country in which they were born before or even after the olympic games? If someone were born in the US but were a citizen else where and trained and all that, even if they were the best and would garantee the USA a win, I don't think he should compete for the USA because he doesn't live or train in the USA. So should it not be the same in this situation? Why would we allow others all the advantages of our training and so forth here and then make them compete elsewhere? I have thought about the fact that yes, if there are no advantages to being an american citizen then why become one.....but that is regarding things like voting and contributing to this or any other countries future and not regarding getting to play some games. Fact is I am so conservative I make Bush look liberal (an exageration but based in truth) so one would thing I would say that you must be a citizen but I also have a hard time understanding why so many are allowed to benefit from a country without giving back to that country. It is a complicated issue. One more example.....golf. There are numerous golfers that play and live in the USA but when the US competes against the counties in Europe these same people play for the European countries and not the USA. Anyways, its easy for me to see both sides and fact is I am not fully convinced that my thought process regarding this matter is 100% the best......but these are things to consider.

RE: E-flite Ultimate FX
I don't know that much about the electric motors but I think i could be the prop you are using causing the motor to spin to fast. All I know for sure it the recommended prop for that setup is a 11 x 4.7. That is what I am flying. Mine hovers at just over half throttle but that makes finding the sweet spot easy and it still jumps out of a hover great. Maybe you should try one and let us know if that helps the heat issue.

RE: E-flite Ultimate FX
Regular styrofoam as a gap filler would be fine as long as you use your foam safe CA. There are other things you could use but the styrofoam would be best to keep it light. Let us know how yours flies.

I am glad you got it flying good. I have a park 400 outrunner on mine and it runs great. Thats a good thing about this plane though, if you want to put a much bigger motor the plane can handle.

I am pretty interested in this plane. I have a evolution .61 that I think would work pretty good in it. I currently use it in a funtana 40 so it should be good for the fliton edge. I look forward to your pics and info.

RE: E-flite Ultimate FX
The yak byp's release date has been moved to May. As for how the ultimate compares to the other bipes, they are a totally different style. The ultimate really is more of a scale aircraft. Its kind of like a class in between the foreplay and the mini funtana. It can do any 3d manuever but it won't do it as easy as a profile, however, it can handle some pretty strong winds and much harder crashes. I fly it indoors as well and it does great. Whenever you get an airplane that is scale you always sacrifice something but with the ultimate the sacrifice is extremely minimal with some plusses in other areas. I have heard of some people having success with a 450 motor and if that is what you really want to put in a plane then this is the bipe you should get. Either that or a mini funtana or fliton extra.

RE: To many old people running the show.
ORIGINAL: DrDeath To get off topic, I love the Bearcat! Is that an enlarged Zirolli or something else. The Pantera looks pretty fast, man, I like your toys!!!!![:D] Back on topic. I agree with you Gremlin on the fact that most of the ideas are re-hash of other ideas. I think the key is in the execution. Same idea, but a new way to execute the same idea or a different spin on an old idea. I think the fact is that most of the existing EC doesn't understand that their mind is like parachute and only works when it is open. [;)] DD
A good example of this is when I designed a two stage compressor for my company using our current single stage package. Some refused to look at my design saying "we've already tried it, it doesn't work." However, the ones that looked at my design found that, yes it was a rehash of an old idea, but it had a few differences and it ultimately worked. My ignorance of the previous design gave me an open mind to approach the project from a different angle and therefore execute the concept a bit differantly, and had their not been ones in authority that gave me a chance the design would have been lost.

RE: To many old people running the show.
ORIGINAL: airbatic Since this hobby adds up to nothing but model toys, who cares about the a.m.a. Fly your toys. 88 Airbatic
If that were all it was that would be great but without the AMA we couldn't fly our toys. Without the AMA we would have lost our radio bandwidth long ago. They secured it for us and they do many similar things that allow us to continue to fly. No offense intended as I once felt similarly, but, I believe, it is that kind of mentality that has allowed the people we find such problems with to remain in office. People, for the most part, pay their fees, so they can get thier card, so they can get in a club, so they can fly thier toys, and, when voting time comes around, they just vote for the person who was already in office because they don't care and don't think it will impact them. We are the ones in control by voting in and out the people we want, therefore, one could say that the problem with the leadership is ultimately caused by the AMA members themselves. Anyways, this is just something we should all consider. P.S. Isn't a sports car just a toy? Isn't a full size aerobatic airplane just a toy?
