RE: Post all your
Joe, the maneuvers you are flying don't warrant the need. If I can comfortably fly the vertical hourglass, 8-sided loop, Figure-9 etc. in Masters, you don't need to use it. People read too much into this stuff. At your level you should only be worried about stick time, not dialing in some braking. I've flown without it with both geared inrunners(Hacker C50 13XL) and outrunners (Pletty 30-10 EVO and Torque 4014T).

Braking isn't necessary period. I have never used it flying Masters. I just set a low idle and that's all I need. In Intermediate there really aren't any long downlines to have a need for it Joe. It's just one more thing to worry about. I am a believer of the KISS principle.[;)]

RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread
ORIGINAL: 2Sunny General musings of a beginner . . . Flew 6 packs on my Shulman Integral today, and I must admit I'm a bit perplexed. There is considerable difference between my Pletty powered Integral and this new machine. Takeoff is way shorter and requires little to no back pressure. My tiny bit of knife edge in the 2-point roll during the split-S has no coupling, and when I'm landing I don't need any down pressure to keep the plane in a constant decent. I'm assuming all this is attributable to the wing incidence, but I'm not certain Anyways, it's all good. I thought I was in love with my first Integral, but my second is taking this to a whole new level [:D] JP
See what happens when you get a trimmed plane with all the radio programming included.[;)] PS - I thought I told you to put the plane away til spring[;)]

RE: Updated Weight Requirements?
ORIGINAL: UKpatternflyer I interpret the 50g ''allowance'' is there to accomodate the unavoidable systematic error in the measurement of weight, to which the scales are quoted as being accurate to +/- 1%. Regardless of the quality or accuracy of the scales they will always have a tolerance, unavoidable in any measurement instrument. So if your scales have a tolerance of +/- 1% and this is defined as acceptable to the rules, then anyone turning up with a model weighing 5050g is within the weight rules. Keith PS. RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread
Joe, you need to better get hold of your throttle management. In calm condition I can get down to as low as 3000 to 3200ma put back in a flght pack after a Masters sequence. Probably 3500 to 3600ma is average for me. It is probably even less since I am charging my packs with the Thunderpower 1010C. Keep your flights under 8 minutes and look at finding the right horizontal speed to fly the Integral at. You are probably going too fast horizontally. On my Pletty/YGE controller setup, I have typically seen anywhere from 3000 to 4000ma consumption in all kinds of conditions. My Beryll and Integral with the Hacker C50-13XL setup do consume less on average of course. My prop of choice right now is the 20.5X14 on both setups. I prefer the Pletty overall, but have no complaints with the C50-13XL other than lubing it every 50 plus flights. Play with your throttle curve a little also. PS - The Beryll has your name written all over it Joe.[;)] Better yet. I'll make you a deal on the Beryll along with Jasons old Integral as a package deal [;)]

RE: Is EP ready to downsize to 8s?
Joe, your experience is from only flying Sportsman and Intermediate type maneuvers. They are not what I would call power demanding sequences with alot of tall vertical stuff. Try flying some of the tall maneuvers in the current Masters sequence, especially in windy conditions, and you will see. To me there is no such thing as too much power. And as far as smaller versus bigger airframes, bigger always wins. Biggger just flys better. When the contest season is over, I basically fly my Angel S. The first thing I notice right away is how much more effort it takes to fly the same stuff I have been flying all summer on my 2M Integral.

RE: Comp ARF Valiant
ORIGINAL: sc204 Is there a servo that could be used in the small cutouts provided? The Integral directions lists a cutout that would fit the 3421 without modification. 15 x 32. If this is the smallest size servo that someone might choose then I think it would be no different for the manufacturer to make the opening that size. (Monor point on a nicely produced airplane) On another note I was waiting for some 3mm threaded rod. I ordered a couple of pieces from McMaster Carr yesterday at about 4PM. They arrived UPS ground this morning. Pretty cool.
Stu, my Integral cutouts on the stabs had to be trimmed back to fit a 3421. No problem. Just do it.

RE: Ordered (well...pre-orderd) my AngelS Evo 50e
You don't need to go to 6S. I have an Angel S and an Extreme Flight Extra 300 setup with the the Extreme Flight Torque 4014T-570 both using 5S 5000 Lipos and they both have plenty enough power to fly an AMA Masters sequence. Angel S setup: Torque 4014T-570, Castle HV85 controller, 15X10 APC prop (plane weight right around 6 lbs with 180 flights and counting) Extreme Flight Extra 300: Torque 4014T-570, Airboss 80 Elite controller, 15X8 APC prop
ORIGINAL: mups53 Hey Joe I heard they may be a CF APC clone of the 20.5x14 soon. I hope so that just seems to be a sweet spot prop for the Integral. I shipped it down to Chris to do a side by side with a stock prop since he has an Eagle Tree. Prop is about 7 grams heavier with CF. Dave Lockhart has been CFing props with success, as well.

RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread
Here's a good one guys, the Angel S makes a pretty good club fun fly plane. It easily does the climb and glide over 2.5 minutes after a 20 second climb out and does pretty well at all the other tasks, as well. This of course is in an event that has a minimum weight limit over 3 lbs so you can't use those high tech fun fly specific airplanes.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2M?
They are definitely not the same. I can see distinct differences in construction, canopy line, cowel/front end, and stab. Even the vertical fin on the Evolution looks taller. Then again, photos can be deceiving. I'm sure Extreme Flight will not allow for the poor quality that Ultra RC did for the Evolution and many of its other planes. I wish people would not make such statements unless they have definitive proof.

Stu, just hope you don't have to remove, repair, or replace your landing gear. Don't know if you took into consideration that the battery tray will cover some of those bolts. I guess you'll need to make sure you put holes in the right place on the tray so you can get to the bolts for removal.

RE: 2M Electric only planes...?
JAS, as an example, I just had Dave Guerin build me a new set of wings for one of my Integrals. They came out at 11.0 and 11.1 ounces covered in monokote. This is before servo, control horn, and pushrod installation. These are the traditional balsa sheeted foam and monokoted wings. I should be around 13 ozs tops when all is finished. My Integral that I lost in 2008 had wings that Dave finished at 12.6 and 13.0 ounces with servos and all of the same construction. My guess is you might be able to target less than 13 ounces on a production wing. I would shoot for 12 ounces. From what I have seen to date, most composite wings are on the heavy side. I have now had in my hands 3 sets of composite all white CARF Integral wings and they were anywhere from 14.7 ounces up to start. From what I have seen, Wistmodels (Vivat,Prestige, Bravo) is one of the few manufacturers out there that can build a decently light wing. Dave Lockhart might be able to chime in with some numbers.

The Hobby King website has both the 5000ma 5S1P 15C and 20C rated packs at a weight of 586 grams. Are the weights accurate and correct or is there a misprint?

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2M?
I just hope they do it right as a pattern plane. No 3D surfaces (offer 3D surfaces as optional), CF gear and tubes, well designed landing gear box, and wheel pants big enough to handle at least 2-3/4" wheels for thick grass fields. I have had a few EF planes and I'd say they are second to Sebart. Never met an ARF I totally liked but EF and Sebart are definitely the best I've seen to date.

Plenty of power to fly P-09 (and then some!) More trimming needed. I need to adjust the incidence/thrust to correct a slight pull to canopy on downlines. More work on throttle curve to get the power to come on a little sooner. Plane needed one click of aileron trim and 2-3 clicks of down elevator off the board. CG seemed about right so far but more flights and trim work to further check. Probably need a little more right engine thrust by shiming the mount. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I'll fly again tomorrow to continue getting everything sorted out.
To save some weight all you need is a 730ma 2S Prolite V2 for your Rx. You will typically consume 50ma per flight. Maybe some carbon gear or a carbon wing tube can reduce your weight even more.

RE: CAMODEL PASSPORT DELUXE KIT
You can also save more weight using a 480ma Lipo pack for Rx. Just charge after every third or fourth flight or have a second one to put in after the third or fourth flight. Also, dump the wheel pants if you so feel inclined. The weight issue is no surprise with this plane. I saw a few of them on the edge weight wise at the US Nats. Some were using 4350ma flight packs and utilizing more of the capacity than I would ever feel comfortable using.
