RE: 44th Annual RCRC Pattern Contest, Huntsville, AL Sept 15-16
Durn if it wasn't more fun than I've had in almost 40 years of this stuff. I've started a new way of contesting, the last few contest, by not looking at scores round by round, because it's all relative anyway, and kinda keeps the positive Energy directed in the right place. Mike W. gave away a little hint to me Sunday AM, at least enough for me to know I was In a closer Hunt than I was expecting. By not watching the first complete Masters competitor fly during the weekend, I wasn't sure how things were unfolding. Know one thing, IT WAS FUN, for this old Fart :) See everyone down the road, Jamie

RE: Prattville SPA Contest - Sept 8th - 9th
Got 17 in the computer now, and could grow to 21-22. Just a nice perfect number, all classes with 3 or more as it sits. Come fly, anything 61 two stroke, 91 four stroke, 70" wingspan can fly B Novice, and get your feet wet. Weather forecast is shaping up OK, and we even could sit out a 1-2 hour rain shower and get all 6 rounds in with no trouble. All our builds will be available to store your plane if a quick shower pops up. Cool front coming thru, and Sunday temps looking to be 60 degrees early on. Come on Fall, looking forward to it, and Huntsvilles AMA 2meter contest next weekend. Great time of year for flying.

RE: Anhedral Stab back in the Day?
I'm flying Hanno's Calypso which came after his Curare, and it's no looker, but it wasn't beat at the last BPA, he he he. It's really almost ugly :). Got to learn how to post pics Jamie

RE: 2012 YS short stroke 60 update
Regulator, diaphragm always due to catch crap, just like the larger YS's. The smallest amount of trash, and the motor will not operate properly. If you've never had a trash or hair issue in your diaphragm in the semi complicated fuel delivery system of the YS, you either living in denial, or haven't flown them long enough. That being said, I now triple filter my 170's fuel before it gets to see me tank, and knock on wood, in 400-500 flights, so far, no trash issues. But back to my original take, simpler the better works for most folks. The YS HAS to put out a grunt more power because of its fuel delivery system, just the way it is, but, I'm now preferring the simple, no ring 8-10 moving parts of the Nova Rossi. Not knocking the YS, just stating fact from my experience., an certainly not going to get in a pissing match over what's best. If they run all the time, every time, that's the one I want, and simpler the better, at least for this ole chap.

RE: 2012 YS short stroke 60 update
I run the Nova Rossi's with great luck and power to boot. Unless motors and parts aren't going to be readily avaiable, I don't know why anyone would won't one that will go back out of production again soon. I run those YS long and short strokes as well, and when they are right, there mighty fine, just to much crap to cause issues, JMO My Nova Rossi's all have inflight mixture adjustments, and I rarley ever touch it. Flew 4 rounds at a recient BPA contest in Huntsville Alabama, and flip the spinner 4 times :). The happy days of the 2 strokes, but still can't beat the YS 170's for the AMA stuff, even if most all is going to milliamps :)

RE: Great Time at the Chattanooga SPA contest
Can't hardly wait, but since I don't fly when I hosting a event, so I'm starting tomorrow warming up for Huntsvilles AMA contest the week after mine here in , Sept 15-16. Come to Huntsville, You can borrow my backup 2 meter bird, it needs flying soon. I don't let my YS 4 strokes sit over 2-3 weeks at The time, just works best for me, and saves engine trips to Richard at YS :).

RE: Great Time at the Chattanooga SPA contest
Wouldn't you know it, it's Sunday and I'm back to 70-80%. Started draining last night and the pressures behind the eyes and nose are fading real slow, and still feel groggy and not quite with it yet, so I'll go out to the field real late and fly some buds planes, he he he, before I get mine out :). Get you a plane, or borrow mine, no reason in the world not to fly. Any old ugly stick can do these maneuvers without much trouble, no kidding, get one and I'll show ya.

RE: Great Time at the Chattanooga SPA contest
I bought one of the gee bees to contend, but on the second flight the motor started surging, and finally stopped. I'll look at it next week, cause just haven't been up to fooling with it, but it's cute looking in the air for sure, but flys about like all the foamies of the same size :(. Cheap fix, for the itch Jamie

RE: Tipo Flying Again
Darn, I was just out in Tulsa picking up my 4th VW TDI, just two months ago. Makes me want two drive back out, jus to see it. We just finished a knockout BPA contest I Huntsville this past weekend, and a SPA contest this weekend in Chattanooga. I'm rustling to get a bird finished to compete this weekend, but could always use my Buds blue bullet ( 40 kaos with a evolution 60L) tha trucks along close to 110 mph. Think it even out runs my Calypso, and. Know it's hitting 103-104. So far that's my first BPA with a REAL BPA plane that's flys good, and I've one for one, he he he :). How do you post pics o this site?

RE: Huntsville BPA/CPA Contest
It sure was nice to see the regulars, a several new comers as well. Jon ran a great show, electing to fly a single flight line till the last round, in trying to get us all out by lunch. Enjoyed all the chat with everyone, and apologize to Scott Smith for leaving out 3 outside loops in round 3 for him :(. 40 years of doing this stuff and still mess up from time to time :(. It may have cost him a higher finish, but a big goof, either way. Headed to Chattanooga this weekend for another contest, Boy!! Ain't life good :),

RE: Where to get Daddy Rabbit?
Dennis Hunt with Zimpro, out of Knoxville, TN still cuts a few kits. It's a real winner, I've had 6, and just bought the one that popped up on RCU yesterday, right in my backyard :).

RE: Daddy Rabbit
The Satio 82 4 stroke is also an option. 17 oz's motor weight, and not as large as a OS, and swings a 13 x 8 pretty well, and should perform as well as most really good 61 two strokers. I had one on a 40 tower Kaos, that wasn't fats but pulled like crazy :). All just a matter of choice.

Can't wait for Huntsville, may go up Thursday and fly my F-16 that needs the asphalt. 11lbs, 11 servos, with 48" wings :). Jstrong499@charter.net

RE: the rising and falling of the calypso
Bummer Seems now of days rarely this newer equipment fails. Some servos/ equipment can't tolerate the higher voltages, especially a 5 cell nicad or NIMI packs. I've had some of my 5 cell packs come off the chargers at 7.4 volts. Way to much for some equipment. Ruined several 2.4 Rx's before figuring the high voltage was the culprit. I've switched to LIFE battery's, unregulated. Just food for thought.
